When i was young I saw a Fire Chief punch a cop for trying arrest firefighters while they were trying to work on someone. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. More so since I went to church with the Fire Chief.
Once watched cops blocking access to a structure fire... refused to move when the fire truck showed up... so the fire truck moved the cars for them.... made me giggle my whole way home from work

I knew of a police chief who told the local fire department to just ram into police cars as hard as they could at fires to teach the officers a lesson. This was a small, volunteer, buy your own patrol car kind of department. So if the officers wanted to keep being able to work, they better think twice going to a fire.

LMao, my dad was a career cop....he had a number of firefighter friends, but he always said about them (with awe, I might add), "It takes a special kind of crazy to be a firefighter cus you stand at least some chance of reasoning with a criminal, but there is no reasoning with a force of nature."
I'm a paramedic, so I get to see both firefighters and law enforcement from an inside-but-impartial view point - and let me say: this is quickly changing. 10 years ago I would've said the same. But with better safety meassures, less and less fire calls and scientific advances that made us actually understand fire relatively well on the one hand - and increasingly irrational, willfully ignorant, racist (and "reverse racist"), entitled, dumb, out of control population with an ever growing problem with addiction, homelessness, unemployment and lack of social security on the other hand - I am now at the place in my life where I would rather attend 10 fire calls than do one LEO shift.
Good on your dad for even having the attitude that you can reason with a suspect or a victim. Instead of just assuming they're a criminal and shooting them in the back
Years ago I was driving home from work late at night. I was using my cruise control and had it set to 40mph, the speed limit of the street. I then noticed a cop behind me for a few blocks and then they hit their lights to pull me over. When I asked her why she pulled me over she said, I swear to God, "I was clocking you at 40 and couldn't catch up to you." I then had to explain to her that if we're both going the same speed she'll NEVER catch up to me. I still remember the look on her face when it dawned on her what she'd done.
Wasn’t dealing with a cop, but that has the same feeling as this time when it took me an hour to explain to someone why a train can’t swerve without derailing
@@Endermanlys Had to explain to my roommate how fans work. If it is 90 outside, and 80 inside, a window fan is not going to make things cooler. And how our analogue thermostat works - doesn't matter what we have it set to, if it's warm enough that the heat isn't running, the gas company will not be able to remotely see that our (entirely analog) thermostat is on (???) and charge us for having it on (?). She is 15 years older than me. Keeps asking me how I know all these things (don't use a serrated steak knife if you want to finely chop scallions, etc). My question is how she does not.

Years ago, our rural department responded to a vehicle accident. We came upon a rollover blocking half the road, with a cop directing traffic. Since the upside-down SUV was obviously empty, we asked the cop about the victim and he replied, "Oh, l sent him to the other side of the vehicle to direct traffic".
This is painfully accurate. Got Narcan for being septic once. I have a few chronic illnesses and have spent basically all the time I thought would be in lecture halls or a dorm room in a hospital or a dr’s office. Few ambulances, most weren’t necessary, paramedics/EMS were always awesome though. Saved my life twice, so thanks! But yeah, a cop Narcan’d me for being in sepsis once. Because why else would a dude in his 20s with tattoos and piercings be having a seizure? Don’t read the medical bracelet or the medical necklace or check the wallet with the medical ID card. Ignore the central line with a that is literally labeled as being a full-spectrum antibiotic actively running. It was an OD. Narcan, all of it, now. Weirdly, it did not help the seizure, and I did not feel good. Sigh.
Bro the police narcaned me twice......because I was having a seizure..... I'm an epileptic........ I had already been hit by a bus during the seizure....... And then during the seizure when I got up and didn't know what I was doing I had punched the cop. I had no idea did it until I got conscious in the ambulance. They told me what happened and basically told me either I go to the hospital or I'm getting charged with felonious assault of an officer

That police parking joke really hit home for me given I was driving the most important apparatus for structure fires and a sheriff's car was blocking the only way in.
in germany they just move vehicles in the way gently (with brutal force) to the side and hope the car owner has a nice insurance because normally you dont just not get the money for your car but also pay for any other damage caused by removing your car if you park in a way tbat blocks emergency vehicles.
I was a cop, and my agency had a policy that we never parked in fire lane. We'd park up on the sidewalk next to the fire, or on the grass, or in someone's decorative flowerbed, but we understood the trucks needed a place to park. Probably helped that for a long time Fire and Police shared the same building in our small town, which led to firefighters complaining that people in our holding cells were making too much noise, and that they couldn't sleep, and if we could go make the angry violent guy quiet down.
It's also a joke built from bias though, because I have been on the other end, and specifically directed multiple vehicles to clear a lane for ems to arrive on scene, only to have EMS ignore the lane, and me using a flash light (without blinding the driver) indicating the pathway. The driver continued past and then got stuck behind the vehicles we moved to the next block over.... They eventually walked over and gave a snide comment about how we blocked the street again.
There's a joke around where I live that if you see a police car going one way, you can commit a crime in the opposite direction because there's only two for the whole area (and they're both in the car). Police often go to the shop my sister works in for their snacks so she'll sometimes message me that I'm good to do something illegal 😆

My fave cop interaction on the personal side of things was this one night I met up with my sister at a bar. She had various friends there, one of whom was a cop. He proceeded to spend the night telling me stories about the "idiots" that he has arrested. Talking about drunk drivers, stoners, etc. Basically doing the whole "if I catch you with even a wiff of anything when I pull you over, I'm locking you up... only an idiot thinks they can get away with that!" At the end of the night, probably 10 beers and several shots in, he barely tips the bar tender, gets into his pick-up, and drives away. "Hey sis, your friends are douchebags." I got in my taxi and went home. (note - my sister and I lost our parents to drunk driving)
Somewhat similar interaction but the guy did 160+mph street racing but not in his city limits, but if you were caught speeding in his city limits he’d ensure you were ticketed.
I remember a crash where the patient had a seizure while driving and ricocheted along a street of empty parked cars. Super shaken up, not a whiff of alcohol, history of epilepsy _and_ he stated he'd not taken his medication for it. We're getting him into the truck, and the cop who'd had his ID starts getting in this man's face and asking him about "how drunk he is" "why'd you drink so much"...The dude pinballed his way through like eight cars; if he was drunk, you'd be able to tell from a block away, let alone face to face. It was certainly. Something.
You forgot the "be sure to break all the windows on the first floor as soon as you get on scene, because, you know, give more oxygen to the fire on the second floor of the abandoned building"
This reminds me, I was talking to a member from a neighboring department once and they said they responded to an accident once and while they were dealing with the car and the victim the RCMP showed up. He was smoking a cigarette in the middle of a fire ban with extremely dry tinder everywhere and proceeded to throw their cigarette into a patch of very dry grass. It started to burn a bit but luckily one of the firefighters on the scene had seen it and put it out before it could get spread by the wind. A wicked argument ensued afterwards, mostly about the RCMP getting into a pissing contest trying to claim they had control of the scene when Fire hadn't turned it over to them yet as they were still helping victims.
I once dispatched police to assist on a structure fire (thankfully fire was on scene) so nobody else could just waltz up to the burning building, and the officer asked "do they need me inside or outside?" As per procedure when there is any doubt as to what kind of response is needed I relayed that question to the fire dispatcher. There were only the utmost of professional responses.
This is so true. A policeman moved my ambulance at an RTC once, without asking or telling me, because it was blocking the traffic on a narrow road. We had a very seriously injured patient. My junior colleague came back to tell me that she couldn’t find it. After having a silent and deadly word with the cop, he brought it back. I never cease to be amazed how alike things are on both sides of the Atlantic 🥴

We had a call last night, guy got ran over so we needed fire to get the car off him. As soon as fire came, someone with a badge showed up and told us he was from Homeland security and that he was there if we needed him.
As a former police dispatcher, this was hilarious. Last year my kids got invited to a birthday party, and the birthday boy was big into firetrucks so his mom asked the local firemen if they'd be able to park one near the house for a while during the gathering. They kindly obliged, and while the horde of kids was happily climbing all over the truck, I said to another mom (in earshot of the firemen) "It's a good thing he didn't wanna see a police car, they're too busy for this sort of thing." Got a handful of leaves thrown at me. xD

I mean, it makes sense. If you knew a kid who wanted to be a doctor when they grew up, they were probably really smart and good at helping people in need. And if you knew someone who wanted to join the firefighters, they were probably really brave and athletic. And if you knew someone who wanted to become a cop, they were probably the most power-hungry bully in the whole school.
The funniest thing about the parking one is the idea that you could have a perfect drive to the fire, where literally everyone pulls to the side for you, you hit every green, and you even managed to pick your dry cleaning up, and you'll still pull up to the most absolutely fucked up street ever.
My favorite is when a teenager is mouthy and they say: We utilized multiple highly technical, closed hand deterrent strikes to the subjects upper body in order to gain compliance and maintain control of the situation. You mean you punched him in the face a dozen times.?! Right?

My VFD is building an addition to our firehouse. A couple of years ago 2 members and I attended a conference in Raleigh NC for building/construction. We went out to tour a new firehouse. The bus driver told that joke. My companions are cop/ex-cop (I’m neither). Needless to say, they didn’t seem to appreciate the joke. I was ROFLMA- ing. 😂

I used to be a property manager. Site policy was "No blood, no broken bones, no 911 except on request" This was deep South, folks worked out stuff on their own.
Can confirm, friend of mine used to date a cop, he once tell me that he should had choose to be a firefighter, until he found out firefighter had to buy their own gears because the higher ups is rumoured to be stealing funding, pissed him off so much.

Before becoming a firefighter, I was a tow truck driver. I got dispatched to a call where a vehicle was perched upside-down on a 200 year-old stone house with its ass in a tree. We had to back up a 35 ton rotator from one side and a 5-ton flatbed from the other side of the one-lane shelf road 70' above the vehicle where we had to perform the recovery from. This cop put himself squarely between my truck and the recovery target - right in the "kill zone" if the winch goes. I asked nicely, then yelled at him "this will take your f*ing head clean the f*ck off!", then his sergeant sent him to go direct traffic on the highway above so we could finish the recovery.
I remember as a kid I used to get a bunch of firefighter trading cards and then one day a police officer gave me one and I was like this guy just wants to be a firefighter
Well, to be fair if they do t eat then, they might not get another chance for the rest of the night. Every night. Cops are busy, and hunger fatigue while you try to drag a 350lb deadweight guy who is telling you to feck yourself and flailing like a toddler having a tantrum isn’t an ideal situation.
A good percentage of cops around my area are out of shape, but some of the best-natured, friendliest, and most helpful cops I've ever met are strong & fast.
I love how literally every other first responder (EMTs, social workers, Fire department) all hate cops. Like i think that says a lot about our Police when even the departments that are closest to them don't want to deal with them or think they make shit worse
You forgot about how they can tell our dispatch to wait for hours for them to respond cause they're so "backed up" but when they need us, if we weren't there 5 minutes ago they're losing their minds....
My son is a border control officer and when he was handing someone over to a cop, he was asked "Does this guy need to fall down the stairs?" which my son understood as code for "Do you want me to beat this guy up?". Very nice.

I'm glad we can agree that cops are the Marines of the first responder world. I drive a wrecker and was responding to a multi-vehicle crash on a two-land road out in BF Nowheresville, and when I got on scene the firefighters were directing traffic while the cops were standing around chatting. And they gave me the job of cleaning up the scene, even though I was only there for one vehicle. They also interrupted me twice just to have me move my vehicle around so they could start letting 55mph traffic drive past me while I was still working. Fuckers.
The thing about narcan hits hard... cops that are supposedly overdosing on fentanyl just by looking at it, are almost definitely just having panic attacks. That just isn't how fentanyl works. If it were, it would be impossible to manufacture.
Obviously "looking at it" is hyperbole, but I don't think you understand just how powerful fentanyl is. It really is ALMOST that dangerous. Manufacture requires full protection. Pure chemical in powder for is easily aerosolized and EXTREMELY dangerous to get on your skin or breathe.
I called the sheriff about the cows that wandered down my driveway, and I had put in my dry lot, and they sent a guy in a little car, like, "Dude, what do you plan on doing?" It took them all day to figure out the cows matched the description of another person's runaway cows, who called two hours before me. I CALLED AT TEN IN THE MORNING!!!

And I’ve spiraled down the rabbit hole on his videos...as a former nurse that has done ER and psyc and detox...he cracks me up!!! Between his facial expressions, his antics and the content, this is truly a guy destined to viral and will most likely become an “influencer”! 😂😂😂 lol, keep’em commin’

The way the police Park thing is true. One day I was taking a delivery to a motel and just as I was parking there police car speeds by gets next to me and tells me "to move the fuck away" he said that there was a fire but I barely saw smoke. seems like someone's heater in the Motel malfunction.
At the Caldor Fire in California, everyone was a fireman.I saw cops dragging hoses right along the firefighters. They all worked their asses off to save South Lake Tahoe.
Funny at Culver's, the Firefighters are always coming in. Lol you can tell the rookie from the oldies, because the oldies get their meals to go and then sit down, just in case, while the Rookies get it for Dine in. I have seen Rookies struggle to collect their food on a call. (I wouldn't be surprised if the older guys did that to be funny!) One other perk of being a firefighter and not police, is nobody is trying to kill you and get rid of your job
Unfortunately there are people that definitely want to kill any and all responders. They're out there. But that's why police go to secure the scenes, they're the guys with the guns and armor.
Very true, a lot of people don’t realize that *only* police can handle a violent offender. If a guy is having a seizure and holding a knife while stabbing himself and someone else, in a burning building, the paramedics and firefighters have to stand back while the police run in to tackle and sit on mr stabby while trying to get everyone stable and out of the burning building so everyone else can do their jobs. Cops are the ones trying to do a standing squat in an ambulance holding down a struggling drunk guy who was in an accident and bleeding out but also trying to punch the EMT.
You seem not too familiar with what we do, I've had as many combative paitents as I have hot meals in the past year and yet I haven't killed one of them sooooooo
@@ConstantChaos1 my husband is an officer; he also hasn’t killed anyone. He has saved a lot of people, from getting people off bridge ledges (it’s a regular thing here) finding missing people, holding down combative patients in an ambulance several times, and responding to spousal abuse calls. He works late most nights dealing with this crud. Maybe where you are it isn’t as big an issue, but issues with depression and substance abuse here make it sadly common.

Lol this is so spot on. A good friend of mine is FD, so I've heard tons of stories between PD and FD. I do my best to not be like these stereotypes haha.
One thing that threw me was the 10-54. Must be different where you're at. Here it's a traffic accident with a fatality. So if we don't need the jaws to get the body out or put out a car that's on fire; the fire boys basically become traffic cones.
And that right there is why departments are moving away from 10 codes and more towards plain language communication. Imagine how difficult it was to coordinate first responders from all around the U.S. who went to New York because of 9/11 and everyone used different terminology and codes.
@@ODSTGeneralYT Military Police don't use 10 codes. Part of it is our training is too short to memorize codes but part of it is that plain speech works just as well as 10 codes.
Where I'm at 10-54 is negative (opposite of 10-4 which is ok/acknowledged/yes/copy/the universal 10 code. Other then that, all the other 10 codes he used were accurate for where I live.

I saw an accident at a traffic light where a car suddenly turned right into the traffic light pole, just slammed into it right after the light turned green, it happened one block down from the hospital, police station and sheriffs department, the firehouse was farther away than all of them and not on a main road, they were the first to get there with three trucks - ladder, engine and a utility looking truck - the firefighters in the 3rd truck started checking out the driver (who was barely conscious) while they waited on the ambulance to show up, two police department squad cars showed up after the fire department then a sheriffs department squad car. The ambulance, owned by a private company contracted by the county, showed up last from the hospital. Too bad the fire department didn't have an ambulance, their response time is much better. By the time the ambulance had got there about 20 minutes had passed since the accident occurred, it took about 6 for the fire department.
Literally in conversation with a County Deputy Sheriff a few weeks ago, I had to explain the definition of common sense. He was young, home schooled & was not aware of the term. 😳
