When I was a kid, I drove to Hollywood from Salem, OR pretty much straight through. I was going to be a star. Anyway, I got to a motel close to Hollywood and Vine, brought my crap in the room and fell asleep. When I woke up, my bag was gone. My car keys were gone. My shoes…gone. Fortunately I had my billfold, so I walked on Hollywood Blvd. in my socks and bought some shoes. Had a locksmith form a key for my car the next day and drove back to Oregon. That ended my acting career.
HEY ATW...ONE MORE THING...DOING THESE TYPES OF HISTORICAL VLOGS, whether they be about Hollywood's Golden Age, or even America's Golden Age (South and North Carolina) are when you are at your best! The Hollywood documentaries are so intense because of your extensive knowledge on the subject and your love of the genre . Those two facts come through to the viewer, cementing the whole vlog as Posterity.
Love when you team up with Scott. He adds that little bit of comedy that makes your videos just that little bit better. Comedy always makes things better.
Adam’s Hollywood videos always make me fall in love with my hometown all over again. Been living in San Francisco for years, but will always be an L.A. girl!
Mr. Woo, if I may, a trip suggestion: Take the Amtrak train to San Diego, take in a Padres game at amazing Petco Park, perhaps tour the Gaslight District, and then take the train back to LA. I think this would make a great adventure vlog without incurring gas expenses.
I enjoy all your RU-vid content. Much better than Katie and Spencer's channel. You are down to earth and take time making amazing content and you're not asking for money either
💯 agree The cringe channels that do a weekly live , just to get super chat money are the ones that I stay away from . Adam never asks for money or expects /receives comps from amusement parks It just started out on a shoestring budget and built up his loyal supporters and makes his honest money from what he’s earned 👍🏻
@@TheNeverPlayedSymphonies These people are providing a service and you cheapskates want to suck up everything for free. I am a nurse and I am allocated a salary. I provide a service I get paid. These people provide an entertainment service and should also be paid. You Tube pays very low sums unless content creators get huge audiences (still low in comparison to a television ad).Educate your ignorant self!
Just FYI, The Scum and Villainy Cantina was one block from where you thought it was. It's still open, and I know that because I always like to watch Fatman Beyond which they do live from the bar.
The young lady speaking at the podium in front of the Chinese Theater is my friend Tiffany Nitsche, president of the Los Angeles Historic Theater Foundation. They were celebrating the 95th anniversary of the theater.
Adam...may not even realize just how much attention to bygone things he's making available to many who would NEVER otherwise either be in a situation of aquiring or ever even think of. The history is and will remain prevalent as long as Adam & Others like him dig it up and bring it to the audience(& future audience).
@@jordanjohnson9866 Jordan ..he covers stuff that ordinary Disney enthusiasts are interested in...they watch often to see things that never occurred them existed...Plus there's tons of people that can't travel....yet alone be mobile 🤷 So ,Yep! He introduces a lot. All the time.
Pretty dang cool. They say the ghost of Marilyn Monroe can be seen in a particular mirror in the Roosevelt Hotel. This was a fun vlog. Always a good time with you and Scott on Tape. Glad the squirrels weren’t aggressive.
Whoooooo Scott and Adam the Woo together again.Love when you guys collaborate together.Batman and Robin together again!!!🙂👍👍👍✌️❤️ My 2 favorite RU-vidrs together again.
It's actually quite sad that the elephants are gone. Why do they keep destroying such historical things... sometimes, progress is cherishing the past.... lovely vlog today!
@@longbeachhippy694 I truly hope that is the case and they will be returned. Entirely too much Hollywood and area history is torn down, all in the name of progress. I am from northern Arkansas, and grew up with Branson, MO as my "backyard". It went from a beautiful little town in the woods with a lake, to an over grown, land destroyed mess of commercial buildings...still makes me cry at times.
Hey Adam, yesterday I was watching The Ordinary adventures Instagram stories and Kitra & Peter filmed you across from the chip n dale rescue rangers movie premiere carpet at the El Capitan lol
My sister and brother in law are part of the owners of Scum and Villany bar. They created it. It's still open at 6377 Hollywood Blvd. It opens at 6 pm.
27:07 yeah the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed ‘These Are The Ways’ on that rooftop just last month on Jimmy Kimmel. Anthony Kiedis climbed up that sign towards the end of the performance
There is a camera obscura in Edinburgh, Scotland from the 1800's, and another in Greenwich, England (edge of London) that carries the tradition of having one there since the 1600's. My wife and I looked at its operation and the image produced in a small house at the Royal Observatory where the Meridian Line is located. I think there are others as well, but these are famous ones. Not on your route, but if you ever get to England you would love Greenwich (where the Cutty Sark, the last remaining tea clipper, still intact as an outdoor museum as well).
As usual the DW, gr8 content & excellent presentation. Although, could've done without SOT, i'm just saying... Tkx for ur interesting adventures & all ur hard work that goes into creating these mini-masterpieces for our enjoyment. It's always appreciated! Cheers luv 🥂
Yup! I called it. I commented on Scott's channel yesterday that I had a feeling you and him were planning another video collaboration together. Since you were both in the same area.
Adam, did you notice the tiller truck (fire truck) in front of you was station 51, which is from the Universal Studios FD?! It also pays homage to the show EMERGENCY! with Randy Mantooth and Kevin Tighe!
This is the first I've heard about the new "Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers." It actually looks reminiscent of the old cartoon and not like one of their strangely-drawn "rebooted" remakes, at least in appearance. Familiar with the movie "Valley Girl"? You were close to the location on Cahuenga Boulevard where the exterior shots of the punk club were shot.
🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿!!🤣 You guys are squirrely. I want your lives. Back in the 1970s, I clearly remember my dear lifelong friend Terry, (R.I.P.⚘) who looked like and was built like Marilyn Monroe, and I sitting at her kitchen table with our plan to move from boring Upstate New York to Hollywood and open up a little tour business. We wrote down things such as seeing where Marilyn first had her hair dyed, where Peg jumped off the Hollywood Sign, etc etc, a lot of stuff that people really didn't acknowledge then and since there was no internet then or Google you got all your information from reading, and I was a voracious Hollywood history reader. We wrote it all down and showed it to our friends and every single one of them said "are you crazy? Nobody will ever be interested in that stuff." LOL. I always did have bad timing. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you guys.
I never saw so many squirrels hanging out together and not fight and chase each other away, probably for territory reasons. Also they seem pretty comfortable around humans which is unusual
I used to do bike deliveries for Mel's Drive Inn and bus tables in between deliveries, i would take launch breaks with my co worker "Marilyn Monroe" and take deliveries to "Superman"
A group of squirrels are called a scurry. Squirrels are quite territorial and will fight to the death in order to defend their living area. Got curious. Looked it up
now im a country girl from Alabama but i think that lanai you were talking about is a fire escape thus the hole in the bottom with the ladder thru it so you can get down to the ground. a lanai is more of a florida porch.
where U2 played where the streets have no name is the rooftop of the Republic Liquor store at 7th and Main , would be cool to check that out as well if its still around
18:30 holiewood bulivard 12:12 top best TV 📺 shows for me are : The Simpsons, Sinfeled, Love And Mirage, og The Wonder Years, Boy Meats World, Braking Bad, Better Call Sall, The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead, SCTV, Mad TV, Kids In The Hall, The Been Show, Mister Show, Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Scrubs...
Was enjoying Natalie in recent videos, but I'm always glad to see my fellow Canadian #ScottonTape with Adam. He is not nearly as cute though. 😜 BTW a group of squirrels is called a SCURRY
Put the candle back: Teri Garr. Not Cloris Leachman. I thought the Las Palmas Hotel looked like the where they shot the hotel scene with pee wee Herman in cheech and Chong’s next movie. Can you verify.
Great video Adam. As an avid outdoorsman I've never in my travels seen squirrels who live communally like that! That seems more like prairie dog behavior. To any Californians, do squirrels do that alot in your corner of the world?
I live in a suburb of Los Angeles and have also never seen a congregation of squirrels quite like that. But squirrels are related to prairie dogs, hence the similar behavior?
This has been most fascinating, entertaining, and educating at the same time. Loved it. Now if you can get the Glendale YMCA in there, you'll see where I had the good fortune to "live" for a few months back in early 1990 while working as a lowly PA on Rover Dangerfield. Then I came back to Texas. That experience, and the people I met along the way, still pop in my writing. Love seeing the places I visited for such a brief time back then. And boy have they changed. Thanx for the vid. Take care.
I have probably mentioned this before but, myself and a friend of mine road our bikes from North Hollywood all the way to the Santa Monica pier. Yes, that's right, we had to go through Laurel Canyon and what a ride it was. I would never do it now. I can definitely say the pier looks a lot different than it did back in 1973. A friend of mine who makes whistles for trains informed me that the guy who owned the foundry that has the patterns for the Hollywood Stars passed away. Great Video. Stay safe.
After Living in Hollywood (Alta Vista 2yr, and Las Palmas 4yr) near Sunset in the mid 2000's, I can say I don't miss this area or working in the industry. It becomes harder to recognize with construction. Only miss the beach visits. I miss the desire to care about this stuff. I envy that you are still into it at my age.
@Marty's 4x4 The traffic was a big factor. I like many parts of Socal, but getting there is too much. I see on the google maps lately that LA did not loose it's traffic, whereas other cities have lightened.
LOVE LOVE LOVE your vlogs, Hollywood is my home away from the shithole im currently in lol...You and Scott together is rad as fuck!!...i was fortunate enuff to stay at the Roosevelt in '94 and the red carpet event for SPEED was happening at Mann's, EPIC! but i had to head back home and just missed the OJ chase...LOVE L.A.!! ALWAYZ HAVE ALWAYZ WILL!
I LOVE HOLLYWOOD and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel! This video is so very pleasant... 💜 The squirrels are the nicest part, other than the Hotel rooftop.
