@@friendlyneigborhoodbean Yeah. It's so weird to me how some writers don't see a difference between being sassy and insulting the intelligence of every other person you come in contact with
@@meri0312 and the sass has to be warranted. No real life sassy person is just sassing everyone. They usually have specific targets for whatever reason (i.e. Harry Potter always sassing Snape)
Ooh okay hypothetically speaking if I was to make a book or short story based off my original comment what war would it be and what side? Real or fantasy war (like the titans vs humans I think is one of them)
Or, the worst in any fantasy novel: "I'm an orphan who doesn't know anything about my family. They died in a mysterious accident. The only thing I have left from them is this necklace/other magical item, and it has a secret hidden power that will unlock more secrets about my family and their cause of death."
Bro Idk why but I love triangles especially when one of them is an old friend and other is a New one they met and become friends BUT 1-I hate it so much when yall makes the new one a "eDgY bAd bOi/GirLie" bro It's so irritating then yall want us to pity them because of their daddy/mommy issues without them actually apologizing for bad things they did 2-I hate it when mc is a Mary sue pick me, embarrasingly clumsy(not the funny ones) ruins everything 3-Even tho sometimes the new friend is actually a green flag and old friend comes later I always root for the old friend to 4-I don't like the fanbase ships Many times I always just want the triangle to end up as friends or a poly relationship(Tbh I prefer not choosing at all when both of them are green flags) 5-I never actually obey the fandom shipping the old friend with MC's new bestie /I know I am probably being toxic to our old friend character but I just don't like second lead turning into a Side ship ngl it always hurts me when I don't see them in the spotlight with our MC anymore. It just doesn't feel right but I accept it when it becomes Canon for the sake of characters 6-I love jealousy moments for some reason
She's not like other girls, she's a giant sentient squid that never wears pink because that's not the stereotype she's going for, and also she's definitely one of the guys because she ate Jim last week
that one alpha male guy who thinks he owns her and pins her to the locker and usually says, “I eat bad kittens like you for breakfast. *smirk* Don’t let me catch you acting up around here again.” USKDHXJDKJSJS STOP RN IM CALLING THE POLICE BC WTH DO YOU MEAN OWN ME? WADE IN THE WATER TF
For me it’s literally Jenny Han’s (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before). The cover screams “I’m so pretty, this is my book, I look fine on the cover of the book I wrote.” a lot. Yikes. She did that also on her other books. Like gurl, chile…
I also hate that the personification of a red flag love interest wins the heart of the protagonist (who clearly doesn't have standards) just because they're hot and leaving the adorable green flag other love interest. Also how suddenly they fall in love with them from some questionable acts like breaking in their house to see them or stalking them because they're obsessed and a bad person to everyone but only good for them. Drives me nuts. I hate those stories.
Exactly, you hit the nail on the head, for me it is normalizing toxic attitudes typical of sociopaths/psychopaths/narcissists, it is normalizing physical and mental abuse, i normalize the lack of respect for the boundaries of the girl/woman.
"I'm just a simple girl who doesn't do make-up and hate parties. One day my friend dressed me up. She gave me her red dress and i COULDN'T BELIEVE MYSELF OmgG i look like a different person. She forced me to JACKSON WANG'S party. Actually I was very uncomfortable but then the most handsome popular guy approached me and i couldn't breath, HE WAS SO NEARRR. Other girls eyes were on me, they were burning in anger"
I hate books where the main character is really mean to the love interest and the love interest is still into her even though she literally bullies him
I swearrr its the worst ...i read a book which started out like this but the ml ws awesome ..he litrally called her out on her behaviour nd gave her the treatment she deserves...he actually didnt know she ws a girl then but even after he did.. he didnt hold back they were the best
They are eating at McDonald's. He says, very impressed: "Finally, incredibly, astoundingly: a girl that eats. Oh, how I LLLOVE a girl that eats. OTHER GIRLS I went out with NEVER eat. You're the one for me!!"
It's not bad if the girl is not hegemonic, but that has never been seen in a novel. This happens not only in books but also in movies and tv shows/series, if she doesn't care about her looks she's always beautiful, but she doesn't know it and is insecure or doesn't have a strong personality, characters like that never own their beauty.
Or “I let this character survive under all circumstances just to kill them off at the end for ‘cHaRaCtEr DeVeLoPmEnT’” (The Hunger Games fans know what I’m talking about)
@@iixrosetta I think it’s the sister of Katniss 😭 the only reason Katniss volunteered to be a tribute was to save her sis but later on she ended up dying anyways, that’s how I remember it
No, actually Prim's death _is_ justified, as compared to some other dystopia books where characters die for absolutely no reason (Divergent, for instance). I mean, you sure can have a different opinion but I've been a die-hard fan of thg for like four years so I won't budge 😂
@@srishtysharma True that! Prim death is an important event in the book where it shows that Katniss is yet again being used as a role model for a fight she did not ask. The fact that they tricked the other side by sending medical help which is actually a bomb trap that accidentally took the life of her sister. It shows that the new gov is also the same people with the prev gov and just using her to overthrow the prev gov and not really advocating for freedom and peace. She previously was indifferent (also got tricked) with the whole fight as she only want to stay alive so she choose the other side who seems like the good party but when Prim died in arranged attack, it becomes personal to her and also open up her eyes to the truth of which the whole fight was not about good against bad, it was between 2 people who want power and control. She had been a puppet for both of them. One through death threat, another through sweet deceitful lies
Bit of a random one but for me it’s the ‘perfect, overly positive’ baby sister of the protagonist’s love interest. Yk, when the protagonist goes to the love interests house for the first time and there’s a kid that has a surgical smile on their face that is never annoying, never moody (or at least not in a ‘cute’ way) and always wise beyond their years. And they ALWAYS say when they first meet the protagonist in front of the love interest “wow! She’s just as pretty as you said she was!” I HATE IT SM because authors get this poor little kid to be the ‘messenger’ for these characters feelings because NO ONE IN BOOKS COMMUNICATE ARGHHH
As an aspiring writer, I was thinking of a concept where the main character realises that THEY are the problem bcz usually its the other leads who get that type of 'personality' and I would love to know your thoughts on that! Not sure about the whole plot for now but soon will figure out :)
You should do it. I think it's not that it hasn't been done before because most main characters do yo through some level of character development where they realise their flaws and shortcomings. Usually if their whole world is flawed then they seem flawless cause their the only ones who see through the mess and are trying to change everything for the better so I think it would be really interesting if the character was in that kind of scenario and in the end instead of changing everyone else's mind or "fixing" the world they live in they realise that their inability to assimilate had caused more problems in that world than anything else. It's not a hero trope and it seems a bit cynical at the end you know giving up like that but I think it's real and honest. I mean there really is only so much most people can take of being an outlier, it's more likely that someone would give in.
@@faruzao idk what your favorite genre is, but that could evolve to a nice angsty plot, perhaps something where they try to fix things with whoever they hurt, but the other person(s) can't bring themselves to forgive them at all, because maybe they did something unredeemable but noticed too late, so now nothing can be the same anymore. And all of that could even develop in another chapter of the mc trying to get thei life together in a different place with a new start, yet the guilt of their past actions is still too strong to bear, basically just a peak in how they navigate life while dealing with these feelings that they can't completely ignore
@@faruzao I loved it, and I think she treated her little sister like that because she envy her, she loves her with all her soul but, she is not aware that she envies her sister's innocence, envies her sister's intact emotional innocence that she has lost thanks to the abuse. Sorry for my sloppy english, it's not my native language
“attention was never something i craved” “i was not pretty but not ugly either” - caraval with the most annoying, worst pick me mc ever (it’s probably not exactly what she said but i don’t bother remembering)
"She's not like the other girls really; she's a gay dragon cousin who fights common sense in every point of her life and her side pieces always appear when she's a lil damsel in distress, oh and she DOESN'T like attention or anything but poor her she always finds herself being the main character." 😑💀
I still haven't figured out how one of this growl sounds or how one's eyes just darkens, not narrows or anything, straight up changes colour like a shape shifter
My favorite are when you read tropes like this but like they don't go how they usually do. The "I'm not like other girls" girl is not the love interest's ideal girl. The love triangle is well written (these are usually the ones where the character is struggling with something sexuality wise). Some tropes are salvageable. Then there are tropes like the "Technically they're not siblings" trope which is never ok. If you have to debate with someone why it's not weird. It's weird
I believe she arranged her collection like that on purpose for the video. Some people judge our personality/taste based on the books we read, I bet she didn't want that. I personally don't want too.. my books are like my secrets, my treasure...
i started reading books with a retiree as a main character, i cant go back and I DONT REGRET IT man it so emotional and i feel so invested I VERY RECOMMEND IT
why every single one of the female main character I read about is PRETTY WITH BLOND HAIR AND WHITE AND SUPER SOFT SKIN WITH OCEAN-LIKE EYES AND IS DIFFERENT TO OTHER GIRLS BUT IN A GOOD WAY????
I have a vendetta against male leads who pretty much harasses their partner and are super rude sometimes because of some kind of revenge, they punishes their partner for stuffs they haven't done and boom they are in love.
Am i the only one that hate when MC said they dont want to go to party but still ends up going there like "Maybe my friend was right i should live a little plus the exam is few months away" then que the whole party scene aughhh
Love triangles, I’m sorry, I know they are really popular, but as soon as I read the synopsis for a book and I see “she was torn between this male love interest and this other male love interest” I put done the book and never look at it again
I personally hate the books which have mostly description. Like, dude, I understood that the world was whimsical from the first 2 pages of your book, no need to fucking remind me of it constantly. Also, severe "pick-me" characters and "quirky 'I'm not like the others'". Just kill me already. Just shove those 3 things in a book and that's how I'm bound to die
“i ALWAYS wear oversized sweaters and sweatpants, but my friend forced me to dress for a fancy party and i found out i’m actually SUPER hot! every boy at the party was staring at me and i just can’t believe it.. no boy ever wants to give ME attention!”
i also hate when the heroine talks about evrybody looking at her or the hero drown to her and can't take his eyes on her ... i prefer to show not to tell and the heroine dont aknowledge the hero's feelings not even with his body language
The “she’s not like other girls” is just a Mary Jane character who is the average brown hair, brown eyed, white gurl, that looks like average girl in terms of beauty and wears basic clothing and in reality is just not a valley girl that books portray as the only girls who get men and the only type of girls who exist in schools. The “I’m one of the boys” is not really one of the boys and is just a pick me who acts like she is to further push the story. If you want to make a girl whose a tomboy, than make a gurl whose actually tomboy.💀
Have you read keeper of the lost cities? If not you should try it! It’s super underrated but so good. It’s like a fantasy book (middle grade) but I still love it!
"i have red frizzy hair and a boxy unflattering body with harsh lines and corners. I have a strong jawline, unlike my sisters beautiful curves" Cue an absolutely red haired goddess on the cover that's supposed to be the main character
This Is Why I Stick To Zombie Apocalypse Books On Wattpad Because They're Usually More About The Apocalypse Than The Protagonist. (I Haven't Found Any Zombie Books In Libraries That Aren't Rotten Apple Books For Kids, Unfortunately.)
It’s so she doesn’t know what book she is picking to read next. When she finishes one and wants to keep it she puts it the right way. At least that’s what I think because I know people who do that
Spensa: My mousy brown hair and flat body at 53 cm., despite being 16, did not make the bullying any better. That's not exact, but yaknow And she's really good a killing aliens:)
the most annoying thing is when the main girl protagonist has blonde hair and blue eyes. idk it makes me mad, I just think it’s really overrated. like add some difference. same for the boys.
I suggest you guys read (i became the villain's wife) this is webnovel and the plot is actually pretty nice? Idk but since it's originally a korean novel the translation can get a little annoying sometimes but still great
One of these days I would love to read about a character that has brown hair and brown eyes.. because seriously I'm starting to get a little self conscious with own eyes because for some reason when given the chance no one ever creates characters with brown eyes. And no Hazel doesn't count..
Ugh same for all of them but glad I'm not the only one who hates the real people on covers thing especially. They never look right to me (and worse if it's a movie cover)
