People not valuing midrange is so funny. I will never EVER understand why people hate middies but to each his own. Greatest scorers in the game usually have a good midrange game. But 2k so watered down and copy + paste that you see less of it. 🤷🏽‍♂️ 3>2>0 ain’t all about just 3s and dunks. This game will always be about buckets 👍🏽

Bro! Here's a gem no one seems to know. You talk about holding Y going for blocks because it causes an elongated jump. Well that's probably true because you can actually control your block like your jumpshot, meaning you actually attempt the block when u release "Y" So u press and hold Y to jump and then release to swat. It's a small window but causes a skill gap, and u can easily start to see a difference in success rate and block animations once u start focusing on it

Pro stick function or orientation (CAMERA RELATIVE)!!! For defense….thank me later It’s stops rim runs,Agent 3’s & everything. You can actually controll you’re player

Playing 2k for over 10 years as a primary defensive big i always hold the Y button for blocks and I'm also a believer that you get better animations. But also the block when you hold L stick away from your opponent in direction to the rim you contest the drives with less fouls. And less fouls mean more block contests etc

Let me say thank you personally for me, because I am a person that loves playing defense more than offense, and we don't see a lot of videos of people breaking it down like this. This is an excellent video, I wish you dropped more content like this, really going deeper into defense and offense and certain things that can help against the cheese that's out here.

I like the mid-range but 2k have too many slow and unwanted animations for it. Plus the you can press block and go flying for the paint to get a good contest somehow

There is barely defense, especially against the CPU. Everything is a foul. Jump straight up to defend, foul. Clean block, foul. Fucking foul foul foul. It's almost unplayable tbh.

This isn’t good, you’d get strapped up against any iso guard with an 85 or higher 3pt. I would drop 40 on you in rec. You’re also overextending for when you’re baiting the jumper leaving a speed boost to a fade an open look everytime. There’s no such thing as good defense in this game. It’s why help defense is extremely important.

I think anchor is the dumbest badge in the whole game.. if you have hall of fame anchor all you have to do is be in the area and the offensive player will miss the lay up.. you don't even have to contest it..

I’m pissed. I bought 2K a few weeks ago and right after that I had to go to the hospital. I was only able to make one build and it is still an 88 overall no good badges yet🤦🏽‍♂️ I could have been a 99 overall by now or at least have two or three builds at a 90 😤🤬

when i took players to black top to see what the takeovers were doing to the attributes. allll the attributes were rising. i watched ur video tho. it’s just that it isn’t very clear. like for instance , perimeter badge drop gives much much more acceleration than extreme clamps does. / another ex: the playmaking take “raise your teammates attributes” makes u way faster and dribbles faster than “raise your teammates badges”… so in your video when u just say “shot creator take” talking about all 3 of them. they all 3 have different feels and effects.

You are vastly underestimating how much your attributes increase before popping your take when you're running two of the same type of takeover. You said you maybe have +2 in your shot blocking when you had half your take in that one clip and you said it's +8 when popped. That is if you're using two different takeovers. When you're double dipping on rim take, on half your take bar and juice you'd be about at +10 to the attributes the takeover boosts. With accelerator it's about a +7 or so.

Good video LakerFan. I’ve been watching you for awhile. I pride myself on defense. I play like Pat Bev. I’ll sag off and watch the pg hands and once I see him turn to pass to my wide open man I’ll lunge and get a Stevie. Interceptor comes up big. It’s risk reward. Sometimes I miss and guy has a wide open 3 cause I’m out of bounds. Also If I’m guarding ball handler I force them to one side, usually towards the help defender. I pay attention to the takeovers as well. Slashers want dunks. Shooters want stepbacks. Shot creators want moving fades. IMO shot creators are the hardest to guard cause you can’t over commit and then they switch directions or hesi and speed boost and get the fade off.

I can never get to level 40 the grind is just too much dealing with Rec and the horrible team game play and whatever else goes on.

if you need help with timing blocks how i taught myself was the 1st quarter and a half ish i would just do hands up defense and see who is the dunkers and see how often and when to time theyre animations best. then second half i start getting unreal blocks, and i do fully agree with holding Y and jumping right before the leave the air and never be under basket, you’ll get the worst animations

ngl laker i sat here at 6am watching the whole video, i love it, as an already good defender i play a 2/sort of lock and all these tips really could make me a top tier defensive anchor, an issue i struggled with was rim runners, so i started playing off but it wasn’t working as much, hopefully this will help!
