That’s beautiful then. It’s good to know there’s a reason behind the usage of large bowls for food. In that case, in a situation where one is eating alone, does this change? Because a single serving of food I got was massive. 😁

I’m a Ghanaian living in Ghana and the recharge card bit shocks me too lol. If you bought MTN, thing is MTN DOES NOT sell recharge cards. They rather do transfers where the vendor will send you the airtime electronically and I think you get 1% less the amount you bought. If you want the full amount, you’d have to add that 1% amount to it OR you can just buy from Mobile Money account where you get how much you actually buy and then 100% bonus. The whole idea is to encourage customers to use the Mobile Money service. The other telcos all have actual recharge cards where you get what you actually buy.

Your accent is so Ghanaian. In fact you look so Ghanaian. Tell your husband you want to settle there. Actually Nigerian music is very close to that of Ghana. Highlife music from Eastern Nigeria are almost identical.Rex Jim lawson in particular. Remember, Fêla Ransome Kuti came to study Afro music in Ghana during the 70s. Nigerians have the impression that Ghana is very small so distances are close but it is not the case. Yes, Accra is very hot but if you went to Aburi and the eastern région, it is quite cool. Ghanaians love thier country and colors, almost and obsession. Lots of hôtels in Accra are quoted in $ but is not the same in other parts in Ghana
@TheVeraFrank
@TheVeraFrank Год назад
Thanks so much for your feedback, it means a lot. ♥️♥️ I think this is my cue to find some Ghanaian highlife music and listen to them. On moving to Ghana, 😁😁 I actually gave it a deep thought at some point. 😁 About the colors, I agree 💯💯 I actually did visit Aburi & also went to Boti Falls. Now that I think of it, it was quite breezy. All the times I experienced the scorching sun was in Accra. And the hotels, maybe when next I’m in Ghana, I’ll stay in some other axis/region, so I can also compare the cost. Thanks for watching once again. ♥️♥️♥️

First time viewer. Thanks for you video observation. Surprised you didn't know the time difference. The Greenwich Meridian passes through Ghana and Nigeria is to the east of the Meridian, one time zone away, hence the difference. Well, now you know. The soup bowl. You realize our soups are lighter/watery whereas Nigerian soups are heavier/thicker. Ever had ogbono soup? You don't need much to conquer a big eba. A little goes a long way. Big soup bowls? Never mind, big bowls do not consume food. As for your guide who painted a horrifying picture of the folks at James Town, sorry a fool was designated to be your tour guide. Such people need not be offered that job. Of course he is from a certain tribe who harbour animosity towards every other tribe. I am happy you saw what he is! Music is universal and if it is good, we will listen to it. In the 80's Ghanaian music was a craze in Nigeria. Ever heard of Kofi Sammy?. Too young to know, way too young, Vera! Talk of distance. Nigeria is more than three times the size of Ghana. Go from Lagos to Yankari game reserve and see how far you have to go. On a trip there in the 80's, I asked several times, "are we there yet? And our roads are not as good as Nigerian roads, making trips appear longer. Accent. I have met people from all over the world, socially and professionally .They all carry their unique accents. Listen to an Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa speak English. It is as if they are from different parts of the continent. Read this; in the United States, there is a distinct accent between individual states. Listen to speeches by American presidents, they all have their nice accents. Anyway, nice listening to your take on our differences that unite us.

When there is an outage in Ghana they will tell the people living in the area by announcing it on the radio. They usually shut down during the day for a few hours to service or upgrade the substations. The mtn recharge charge was correct because you did it by a vendor. Some or almost all providers have stopped selling recharge cards. I’m sure you got EVD(Electronic Voucher Distribution) which is what the vendors sell to you because MTN has stopped the sale of recharge cards. That GhC 2 is the 10% profit that the vendor gets for reselling the airtime for MTN. If you had a mobile money account and bought the airtime electronically by yourself, you would’ve received the whole amount you paid for. So those telling you you were scammed/cheated are wrong. It’s just how the business is. Lovely video by the way ❤

The hotels in Ghana are mostly used by foreigners. So most hotels prefer using International currency to charge their customers. USA with their currency Dollar has been big ingluence in Ghana

With the airtime billing, you could have simply bought it with your phone using short codes (you get exactly what you requested). However, when you buy the airtime from vendors, they deduct their commission for the service they rendered to you. Physical MTN recharge cards are not available in recent years, so on the phone or via a MOMO vendor is plausible.

It is against the laws of Ghana for hotels to quote their room rates etc in US Dollars. The Bank of Ghana always tell hotels to only quote in Ghana Cedis or face the laws.

This makes so much sense. I wonder why they still break the law though.

The dollar issue. Due to the open and flexible exchange rate policy, the cedi dollar rates keep changing in a day or all the time. Hoteliers dont want to keep changing rates according to the fluctuations of the day all the time. So they prefer to price in dollars for stability yet you pay in local currency at the rate available the time you are making payment. It is illegal though
