As for sauna culture, we don’t really have that. Yes, you must be naked but you also a) must sit on a towel at all times. Sweat on the wood is forbidden. Repeat offenders are punished by being placed on a no-fly list to Mallorca. B) Under no circumstances can you leave during the Aufguss, even if it kills you. If you do, scores of flabby old men, plus one really fit, not-naked saunameister will glare at you through the dense steam. C) You may not eat, drink or give birth in the sauna. Talking is also not a good idea. D) You are to shower before the sauna and after the sauna, before you jump into the cold water pool. Had we saunas outside, you’d probably be required to shower before rolling in the snow or jumping in a lake. These are just a few selected rules of the German sauna. You may, however, have an isotonic beer at the bar after you have showered, cooled off, rested, disinfected your feet and put on a bathrobe and flip-flops. Cheers!
That's just what a sauna is. I'm from Denmark, and wearing a towel to a Sauna is not normal unless it's a public mixed-gender sauna. Public or private male or female saunas are always nude. Private saunas are as nude as your home showers.
It's boring that youtubers are all telling the same stories. I bet she has not even been to the sauna in Germany. It's just what evereybody is telling about Germany.
So free for people who have no business fornicating in the first place. Yet responsible adults who support themselves and are much more likely to be married or in committed relationships have to pay for it???
The most shocking thing for me as a German when I lived in Scotland was the unbelievably high frequency of people using the f-word in virtually every sentence.
@@abraxastulammo9940here's another lesson for you, don't ever call a Scottish person "scotch" or they'll probably headbutt you 😂. Scotch is what Americans call Scottish whisky and a scotch egg is an egg covered in breaded pork, but comes from England, a scotch bonnet is a chilli from africa, that gets it's name because it looks like a traditional Scottish hat. If you go to Scotland or meet a Scottish person calling them scotch is worse than calling them English 😂
Not that long ago all shops were closed on sundays in Finland. And I mean all shops. Now the only shop that is closed on sundays is Alko (the hard liquor shop)
@@einienj3281On Sundays German supermarkets are closed, that's true but Spätis are open, gas station stores, restaurants, any kind of fast food and street food place is open...so if you go hungry on that ONE day a week it's pretty much on you.
Interesting to know what the differences between my country and Scotland are. But not in every sauna you have to be naked ig. Greetings from Germany 🤝🏻
Well many saunas are offering a monthly "Sauna for shy people" where you can enter in bathing clothes. Bit i prefere the naked Sauna. People tend to be more civilized when naked, like keep distance, avoid staring, and of course its much more comfy beeing naked then sitting and sweating in hot Bikini.
Kudos to you. I found much the same things when I lived in Germany. However, I have to say the overall German experience was very positive and excellent for me. I enjoyed it very much.
@@760HorsePowerThe Germans are some of the most decent and hardest working people on earth. If Germans frequent places abroad, then you know the food and sanitation are on point in that place. They make the best and most cool stuff on the planet. The only thing I didn’t like was the omnipresent smell of sausages. For the rest, this Englisher is only impressed. Seems we were lied to about the German character for about 100 years. Have fun catching up. Or stay away probably best. You won’t be missed. Döp dödöd döp
@@760HorsePower I don’t know. But at this point I’d like a native leader who at least doesn’t hate his people. There’s an incredible range of circumstances in Russia. Some abysmal poverty still exists. Having grown up in the Cold War, I have only been delighted by Russians I have met since the Iron Curtain fell. I have one good Russian friend, she’s not a fan of Putin. We should have brought Russia in from the cold after communism fell. How stupid to have not taken that opportunity to embrace a huge Christian nation into our prosperity. However, having just read the Gulag Archipelago, I’d really like to know why none of those Bolshevik sorts have ever been brought to justice. Edit: sorry, that was a bit deep for a sauna vid 😂
It's fascinating Germans are so confident with their sauna culture. Over 2,000 years ago Caesar said the exact same thing, and noticed they were naked a lot and very free with their bodies.
Unfortunately...! So people in Germany who don't bother to get a job get paid birth control, health care and apartments. And who pays for this? Stupid honest ones with jobs and horrendous tax rates!
She's no telling any lies. Some gyms have got saunas, but nobody's in the buff. You don't pay for scripts, booze is dearer than Germany, and you can only buy it between 10 and 10. She might be a dafty but she's no said anything that's untrue.
It's you. I know a lot of people who go to saunas and I'm way under 40. Basically every time I get the chance, I go. Even on business travel, but mostly privately with friends or spouses.
U can't buy alcohol after 10 pm in most german stores. Because they close at 8 pm. 😂 There are a few exeptions though, mostly in big cities and train stations.
Where do you live where they close at 8 pm lol. Ive never seen stores in normal cities close before 10pm and sometimes 11-12 pm. And then theres gas stations, kiosks and so on
@@martinaitken7825 Like not being able to buy alcohol after 10pm, that's mad, in England you can buy alcohol whenever you want. It gets trickier after 10pm because most shops are closed but there's plenty of 24 hour shops.
I'm Scottish living in England. There are quite a few things I prefer about England and the whole Sunday trading guddle has never once tripped me up. It's not a big deal if you're even slightly organised and the smaller places are exempt from those rules anyway, so stay open very late. You can also still get multibuy and special offers on booze in England. Also the supermarket delivery vans are still doing drops until 9-10pm or so on a Sunday...
I like how outside of the Nordic countries, the Netherlands and Germany, naked saunas are so odd. I find it odd to wear bikinis or shorts to the sauna, cause that gets all sweaty and sticky and disgusting
@@duffman9 Not by much plus ,inflation making people work more , plus wage increases makes it easy for someone in a typical working class job same goes for long hours in Scotland to hit middle tax these days while rest of the Uk gets 10 grand extra on “bracket” lower tax , still at least the first 12 grand is tax free has not been changed . Still better then living in Scotland then south east of England though depending on your status of cause.
The whole naked sauna thing is actually pretty handy because the staring lads from the middle east are to shy to go to the sauna naked. Nowadays it is often mandatory to be naked which is enforced and can be read on signs.
About the free birthcontrol, we still argue about it and it seems that it will be free soon, and a full naked sauna is so normal for us. We've learned from the Finn's and it is healthy
I knew Germans who were living in Scotland. Even dated one of them for a while. But this was in 2005 and the family moved back in dribs and drabs from 2011 onwards, even before Brexit.
Sterni is Cheap, but there are better beers than it. And the sauna thing... You'll get used to it. We do it because it's more hygenic than being in a sweat soaked swim suit. Greetings from Germany :) But what impresses me is that birth control is free in Scotland. In Germany it is only free to the age of 21.
The birth control one is only half true. If you are under 18 you don't pay a cent for it. If your are between 18 and 24 you pay 5-10 euros (usually 5 unless you are picky) only after you turned 24 you pay full price which is usually not that much. If you aren't picky that is.

@@hmu05366 What has been proved is that the Scots get far more money per head spent on them than the English. Probably due to the high number of senior civil servants in Whitehall who were born north of the border.
Contraceptions are covered by the health insurance in Germany. They are free for everyone under 22, above you have to pay the so-called Rezeptgebühr (10% of the sales price, min. 5€, max. 10€) as for any other prescribed medication. If you are privately insured, you can get reimbursed.
True, that is, why I wrote below the age of 22 it is free. The point in the video was, that you might not just be able to buy the best suited contraception because of the price. As in Germany contraceptions except for the morning-after pill need to be prescribed, the doctor has to make sure, that you get the best suited contraception. BTW If you pay taxes and get something from the state without any fees, it is also not free. It is just financed differently financed through a community not unlikely to a statutory insurance 😏
I big thing for me moving to Europe is that because European countries are so often compared to America we think that they are progressive but as someone who has never had to pay for healthcare in my life and now has to pay for every drs visit plus 120€ for my medication I struggle to understand how the tax rate can be so high. I love living in Europe but I think I can only afford it when working full-time and that's not something I want to do long term.
Wow, free contraception mentioned as only plus, is that the only thing going for the country? Things are free in Scotland because the majority of people are skint or wouldn't buy the things so Gov't make them free e.g tertiary education & prescriptions.
The video is not so much about positives and negatives - more about culture shocks! Our host doesn't specify whether she prefers the naked sauna culture or not 😁
Pretty much all capitals in every Western European country are not representative for the country. Paris is not French Berlin is not German London is not English Edinburgh is not Scottish Brussels is not Belgian ... actually Vienna is Austrian and Budapest is Hungarian - but both are very center/eastern European.
Contraception is a thing. I think Germany is one of the rare countries in Europe where you need a prescription from a Dr. And money to get it. I don't like that.
«in Scotland it's illegal to buy alcohol in stores after 10 pm» Me, living in Germany, where stores after 9 pm and kiosks after 10 pm are closed: Hmm, interesting 💀
Spätis are everywhere and usually are open much earlier and much later than supermarkets, but you have to pay 2x or 3x normal prices for that service (and because they often can't buy in bulk like big supermarket chains)
Been to Scotland numerous times. Cannot say the girls dressing in a skirt others would consider a belt for a night in the pub made a very prude impression.
In some parts of Finland birth control is free for young people (under 25) but I don't really understand that. It doesn't cost that much. Everyone has that few euros for a pack of condoms. Not everything should be payed with tax money. Obviously here people are always naked in sauna. Around 99% of Finns go to sauna regularly. The temperature is at least 80°C. Finland and the Baltic states are the only countries that still have original smoke saunas without a chimney. Finland also has very strict alcohol laws. You can't buy alcohol (over 2.8%) between 9 pm and 9 am. Drinks that contain more than 5.5% alcohol are only sold in the Alko stores that close at 6 pm on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays.
Yeah normally people know that. But Its free at the Point of Charge/Use. And Its also free/cheaper Who wouldnt be Able to afford it, If it wasnt govermental funded
Yes, we are willing to pay for it though. Whenever I hear people say "oh, taxes taxes" of course its being paid by taxes. You think the government is giving them out for free?
Lame argument. And by the way, health care is not funded by taxes in Germany but by insurance premiums paid to non-profit organisations who administer the system. Non-profit…get it?
This. I've always found it ironic that the poorest closest to homeless people end up having the most kids. Worldwide. Even in the past. Richer families had 1-2 kids. Poor ones? 10 children. But it is also thanks to diet. Trash food limits the female's body ability to discern a healthy or trash fetus and lets them all live. A well-fed nurtured woman's body miscarries the fetus early early on if it's not good enough. Built-in eugenics for healthy genes. So in reality more children = you're physically sick or malnourished. Also why parents who do drugs and drink a lot can pop out kids like rabbits.
I hear so many people whine and whine about the declining birth rates. So you want to eat and live like the countries with higher birth rates? Nigeria where they prescribe starvation to pregnant women to make the babies smaller because they're so malnourished they can't give birth right? The more a country has crippling poverty worldwide, the more kids they will produce because their bodies see themselves as about to keel over and decease so they want to pump out gene meat sacks as fast as humanly possible. Rich well-off countries(look up all the low birth rate countries, most don't even have birth control) can be more selective. Their bodies know they'll live and produce a long time so they can take time off from chucking kids into the world everytime they have sex.
The way to a healthier population involves both male and female parents taking 2 years minimum prior to conceiving to stop drugs, drinking, and take vitamins and get healthy. Then they take 2 years minimum between each baby to repeat the last 2 years. And ideally stop having kids when they can't feed them properly. This gives children the best genetics they can hope for for a stronger healthier population that isn't just modern slave labor.
@@LycanFerret "Nigeria where they prescribe starvation to pregnant women " prove it. The rest: Bollocks. All "rich, well-off countries" offer easy access to birth control. People in poor countries have many kids because these countries don't offer some kind of pension. This has been studied decades ago. Your theory is a blatant conspiracy claim and lacks any scientific proof.
I've seen worse in the US. They even wear clothes whilst taking a shower which is why Iceland has shower sheriffs at the Blue Lagoon because of Americans not showering properly sans clothing!
Come to the state of Baden Württemberg and the sale of alcohol (even beer!) suddenly is also illegal after 10 pm. But that won't matter because the supermarkets also close at the same time...
@@dweuromaxx just googled it, sorry apparently not anymore. It certainly used to be like this but the rules have changed since I last had the sudden need for a six-pack of Tannenzäpfle after 10 pm.
