wow those waterfalls!!! but that jungle and I would not get along with so many mosquitos, I just know it it's absolutely unreal how empty it is of tourism. How do the locals feel about all of this? i imagine they're affected a lot bc of the loss of the industry due to covid, but on the other hand it seems so peaceful
The locals that I spoke to seemed pretty excited to get things going again; granted, they were all connected to tourism in some way. But I didn't get the impression that they wanted visitors tos stay away (see: Hawaii). As I understand, Phuket is not in a red zone so they didn't receive any kind of support from the Thai government, and with an economy almost entirely dependent on tourism, you can imagine the effects that the pandemic & various lockdowns have had. It's quite sad. I hope that things can pick up again.
