The Outer Banks of North Carolina are a popular beach vacation destination. We love enjoying the crashing waves and warm sand under the hot summer sun. But sometimes, the weather doesn't cooperate. In fact, it didn't cooperate on our most recent trip to the Outer Banks. Which leads tourists to ask... "What is there to do in the Outer Banks when it rains?" If fishing, swimming and catching some rays is made impossible due to a downpour, there is still plenty to see and do during your OBX vacation. In this video, we will spend several minutes telling you about our favorite attraction to visit when it rains - the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. After we give you a tour of this aquarium in Manteo, NC, we will go on to share numerous other ideas of activities you can enjoy indoors. You and your fellow travelers are sure to find something on the list that will occupy and entertain you until the sun comes out again. You can still have a great Outer Banks trip even if it rains. And don't worry - it can't rain all the time!

This is such an interesting video. I've never been through the OBX, but definitely want to go now. This video has piqued my interest. I just need to find restaurant to get Ginger onboard. She is 100% food motivated, though I look it. I'm glad you adapted to the weather and ended up having a great trip. I especially liked the aquarium, arcade and shopping is always fun. 3 hours is a pretty long stretch of land, but sounds like it's one heck of an adventure. Thanks for another informative, fantastic video.

You haven’t been to OBX? Don’t you live relatively close? Y’all definitely should try it out sometime. We love it! Lots of good seafood restaurants there. We are both food motivated as well- though maybe not 100% food motivated. Sixty percent maybe. Thanks for watching and commenting!

We love a good aquarium, that one looks great! Those turtles are adorable. I love the jellyfish, but you're right, I'll see them in aquariums please. I want the 'Otters Strikes Back' t-shirt for Steve! The Graveyard of the Atlantic looks great...we love a good museum too. Beautiful mansion/museum. And I love shopping rainy, sunny, hurricane...any time...and a Christmas store is my weakness.

What a great thing to plan for--nobody ever plans for it to rain on vacation. Neptune's theater looked great, we love aquariums. It is so beautiful there on the pier! That's so awesome/interesting to see the shipwrecks' locations over the years! Candy and souvenirs are a must! Thanks for sharing!!

I love aquariums. Bill tolerates them. 😂. This one was huge with so much to do and see. Love the hands on activities. The Graveyard of the Atlantic would be cool to see so you can learn about the shipwrecks and other things they’ve pulled out of the sea. Pirates!! Native American museum would be interesting. Whalehead Club is really a pretty building. Shopping is always a good rainy day activity. 😂😂. You had lots of great ideas.

While we love being outdoors on the Outer Banks in the summer, it is always nice to know some options as a back up plan in case storms approach. You would love the aquarium and museums here. So much to see and do and learn. Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment!

1st one, watching now. There are so many cool things to do here at this aquarium. Like see the out side activities. Wow that’s a lot of ship wrecks over 2,000 and that’s just the ones they know of. Christmas store cool. Would love to go the arcade. Thumbs up 👍

This was great to show what to do on rainy days . Love the aquarium and the whaleshead building . Would love to try the escape rooms and go to the movies. That was a great idea for a video :) Thanks for the ideas ~ Anna

The aquarium is a favorite of ours. But the Whalehead building was great to explore. They have restored it to what it looked like in 1925 - even repainting the outside of the building its original color and finding furniture similar to what was originally in the building. We love visiting old houses like that. The escape rooms are on our to do list because we have always had fun when we tried escape rooms - though that isn't a good venue to make a RU-vid video as they don't usually let you film. There is lots to do here even if it rains. Thanks for watching and commenting!

the Graveyard of the Atlantic looks like a neat place to visit, love these type of quirky museums. how fun playing game of air hockey lol thats a huge indoor arcade, dont see too many of those anymore around here. great list here you put together, thanks for sharing ✨

We loved your tour of the aquarium, Jack and Alice. I (Dave) would also love learning more of the Pirate history in the Outer Banks as I'm aware it's quite storied! So we'd love to visit the "Graveyards of the Atlantic Museum." The price is right too! Leaves us more money for all the shopping and dining opportunities. It sure looks like there's plenty to do "rain or shine." Thanks for bringing us along!

It definitely rained when we were there last June, so it would have been nice to know about some of these. One thing I don't like about the Outer Banks, though, is that everything is really far apart. It involves too much driving, in my opinion.

The museums and aquariums in the Outer Banks are really cool experiences. That is definitely what we try to do in the rain. But there are other things to check out as well. Awe I love the sea turtles!! 🐢 So cute. I love going to aquariums, so cool to pet a stingray and see them get fed! The t-shirts in the gift shop are so funny haha. Crazy that there are so many ship wrecks! Wow. I would love to visit that Christmas store, I love finding Christmas stores! It’s also fun to bring souvenir Christmas ornaments back home 😊 awesome video as always! I would love to visit Outer Banks someday!! Looks like so much fun.

That Christmas store is massive. It is the best Christmas store we have been too. And you are right- ornaments make perfect souvenirs. Our Christmas tree is filled with ornaments from various places we have traveled. And we love aquariums too. We could spend hours getting lost in a good aquarium. I must just be lucky. It hasn’t rained on any of my trips. I’ve been to the aquarium but haven’t to some of your other suggestions… seemed like good recommendations. Sounds like a rematch in skeeball is needed.
