Used to live in Houston for just over 16 years from 1963 to 1979. Summers are sure intense with the heat and humidity. The three lakes in Sandalwood/Lakeview off Memorial were a real Godsend!!!

Regarding the Fort Bend County Appraisal District, you can forget about lowering your annual appraisal. I have hired and fired two companies that could not lower our appraisal meaningfully. It is the worst appraisal district in the Houston Area, so you better think twice about that before you buy a home in Fort Bend County. And, they are building houses in Fort Bend County like there is no tomorrow at "high" prices, which will be used against you by the appraisal district appraisers and the appraisal board. In fact, I spoke with a company representative who does property tax protests who lives a few miles from me in Fort Bend County and he could not even get his property tax appraisal reduced, so now you know.

I’m from Houston and I’m gonna have to disagree when you said you don’t need to have a car in Houston. LOL. It’s like one of the most car-dependent cities in the country and our public transportation needs major over haul. 🙄

I'm from Houston as well. Having a car is the #1 necessity. With no car, be prepared to drop at least $250 per week on Uber/Lyft.

Hmmm rentals are about $300-$350 but you gotta pay for gas and parking. I was go gonna just use uber/lyft hmm decisions decisions..

Runway Houston sometimes is in May, but this season it will be April 20 & 21. The largest fashion event in Texas and all of southern U.S.
