Yes! Get comfortable riding first! I just started again after not skating since childhood. Trying to yeet ollies and stuff, I'm killin myself, so the last week I've just been riding, carving, and practicing 180 kickturns. It's helped so much!
Got my first skateboard and started riding last week!!! Im fairly comfortable on it even on semi rocky ground, lookinh forward to learning how to stop instead of just planting my foot down, and looking forward to manuals too
Such an important video man. I picked up so much from this especially the hand slap pick up technique, the %90 percent of weight on board foot when pushing and using your heel to stop instead of using the tail.
You want to push with your back foot so that small bumps don't knock your board sideways. With the weight on the front the rock won't knock the board sideways, and the back of the board will always naturally correct and follow the weight on the front. It's not just to avoid looking dumb. It's to save yourself from eating shit while pushing and going fast.
really refreshing to see this vid..ollies are NOT a beginner trick IMO...i should know,,i'm a beginner...so important that you covered the fundamentals first..peace!
50 year old learning how to skate has been a challenge. ive been trying to power slide to stop, found the heel trick very usefull , will be using that tomorrow.
i tried your tips in stopping using the back foot and it is not easy as i thought. its either the tail will scratch the ground or i will fall backwards 🥲 im a beginner though
@@harlenskates i been skating for almost a year now (a lil after pandemic) im 36 and never skateboard in my life....all i do rite now is ride my board til the wheels fall off and maneuverability comes natural when your on the streets! THX FOR REPLYING BY THE WAY! ;-)
3:55 well, some days ago I went to a skatepark to learn how to skate (I've never been on an skateboard before) and then some guys came up to me and told me to leave because I'm a beginner and rlly bad lol I wasn't even in their way, idk what their problem was. But anyways, cool video it rlly helped a lot! (Sry for bad english btw)
Everyone struggles with different things! Try and relax and not be so stiff when trying to manual. Try keeping your back foot in the pocket of the board and not the back of the tail.
