this video gives new skaters a different technique on how to ollie. If this new skate hack helps you, leave it in the comments below, and like this video.
you have a video like this for kickflips? been skating for 13 years still cant land one my front foot is always off to the side and my back foot lands it no problem
Unfortunately no, Since I cant do them moving I wont be making a how to kickflip till I can do it moving. Biggest tip tbh is stop being scared, I can do them stationary and that's cuz I got over the fear of landing them stationary.
the fact this popped up on my recommendation after 40 minutes of failed attempts of ollie’s dude thanks i’ll try this in the morning rn i gotta get some rest
I learned how to ollie 10 years ago but I still love watching these kind of tutorials. You explained it so well, good job! You made it short and to the point. I’ve seen a lot of detailed trick tips and I don‘t get the point of breaking it down into a hundert steps like dry runs of popping and sliding your front foot… It really isn’t that complicated. It’s all about timing and practice :)
-Dear Beginner Skateboarders One thing I'd like to say is when you first learn how to ollie, 1 you should at this time already have very good balance and overall basic mechanics on the board. If you cant ride the board faster than 10 mph you should definitely practice just riding the board more often. 2 Don't learn how to ollie in a crack! This goes with skater trainers too. Ollieing stationary and ollieing while moving are two different motions, and teaching yourself to only be able to ollie while not moving is no fun, and it will take serious amounts of practice for you to fix this mistake, and learn to do the trick the right way. This goes for every trick in skateboarding, don't learn the incorrect way to perform a trick to more quickly have it down. Focus taking your time to learn the trick the correct way first, to save yourself the hassle of having to learn it all over again.
I disagree, learning Ollie’s on a crack helps with basic board mechanics. Getting good at staying stationary is just as essential as rolling with the board. It helps with the pop and flick as well as balance that will go along way in skating. Honestly just do what you feel is right. No RU-vid vid will teach you how to skate more than your own trial and errors on a board.
@@kevstaa7121 he was talking about being on cracks and or usin trainers. Ofc on flat concrete youre gonna need actual balance to stay stationary whil doing a trick
when I was learning to ollie, there was a guy at the skatepark who told me that you have to imagine that you are limping with your back foot and then scratch with your front foot. That shit was so helpful, i will never forget it
Absolutely! I've always thought that practicing touching the ground with your back foot had nothing to do with the actual motion of the Ollie. I think this video will help me, thank you!
I am so glad to find your video. I struggled for days going from "ollieing on stationary position" to "ollieing while riding". Your breakdown on the back foot really helped me. Your practice that focus on the back foot alone, has made me realized today i was trying to ollie as high as i could while not moving, but my muscle memory is not ready for it in a moving position. Once i start doing baby ollies while riding, i can finally land more consistently. Right now my tail barely hit the ground, hopefully as i get more comfotable i can kick hard and get my ollie up higher. Much appreciated for the great tutorial.
i came back to this video to say absolutely thank you so much because of this video i actually learned how to ollie up a curb and this video actually helped me a lot you earned a subscriber 👏
Thanks man been trying this for weeks. Got into bad habits as i was watching the braile vids. Thank you so much i got an ollie after an hour with these tips. Cant wait for more tips videos
Thanks so much, I took my siblings to build their own decks so that we can all learn together and with your video I think I can learn it myself and be able to teach it to them.
Check out my newest how to Ollie video, it goes more in depth on "theory." And the whole not touching the ground is something I noticed smaller kids mess up with. And its one of the main reasons imo why young kids can't Ollie well at first
THIS VIDEO IS BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU I’m still learning how to Ollie but after a lot of research I’m learned it’s more in the ankle but not many make that clear I’m also glad u show a new way to practice Iv been doing something similar for awhile
very essential video. I've seen zero ollie tutorials on youtube that tell beginners that ur backfoot doesnt touch the ground when you ollie. i have a friend who still has this bad habit to this day
Wow, the tip about kicking it up with nothing but the ankle is really helpful. I haven't seen this suggested in the dozens of other ollie videos I've watched!
This is awesome! I've struggled with Ollie during my first session but after watching it it's actually not as hard. I didn't understand the back foot motion before. This is very helpful. Thank you!
this video opened my eyes in such a way i just cannot explain, i've been struggling on learning how to ollie for a month almost, this video will help me
Thank you!!! ollies immediately got twice as consistent after watching your video and understanding that your foot isnt supposed to touch the ground! Never thought not popping the board right was my issue!
Thank you SO SO much, I have been looking for tutorials that work for so long, and I happen to come across to this video, and you really helped me! This is the best tutorial I have seen and I will be sure to send it to my friends too!
Very informative and well made video I starting skating last week and I’m imagining it’s gonna be monumental for my ollie progression. Already late night skated tonight though but excited to try in the morning!!
3:36 dude thank you so much, I really missed this part, like my leg was never used to be like this so it's really uncomfortable for it. And when I've practiced it a little my ollie became really closer than it was before. I'm practicing right now and I'm so thankful for you!! it's really much closer after practing this. I'm sorry for a that long message, I'm just so excited right now i really wanna do this today! and you helped me a lot with this part that I've mentioned
I thought i was the only one with this issue for the longest time since no video has ever mentioned it. I knew something was wrong when i couldnt even rocket ollie and sliding was easy. Thank you sm for making this video
This seems like it'll really help! I've been practicing all day (after work in a heat wave so I'm dead) and I aaaalmost got it, but I really struggle with the pop and jump. I'll try this tomorrow! Thanks!
I saw this advice in many comments but glad to see someone finally made a video on it. I have a nickel board (28") and it is better for for cruising cuz of wider wheels. I just wanna learn how to ollie on it cuz that would make cruising a lot smoother
U have no idea how helpful this is all the other RU-vid videos never mention that u don't wanna touch the ground I've been trying to Ollie for over a year and I always touched the ground when popping the tail
The only video I know of that also mentions it, is the braile how to ollie 3.0 but they never explicitly say it, and more of just an observation, although it came out like 6months after I made this video. Also glad this video helped you understand better how to get your ollie going
I’m 25 and I bought my first board, most of my life I always ride a penny board or a longboard to cruise around my neighborhood but never thought about getting a skateboard to learn how to do tricks. Yesterday I tried do a Ollie and I scrape my right palm bc I fell backwards after landing. Painful but I’m okay. This video pop up on my recommendation and I will learn how to Ollie your way. I think it’s seems so much easier.
Great tip. How many guys do you see who goto Ollie something and there back foot stays behind and they end up doing the splits. Even the sliding your foot forward part is over thought. It's more the motion of levelling your feet after the pop, whilst jumping of course.
This is awesome! Something i learned by tinkering with my skateboard is to take a bar of soap and create small soap shavings. Then put the soap shavings in the pivot cup. It’ll stop the board from squeaking the way it does in this :)
I've been hitting the floor for 2 days trying an ollie and I got more confidence, It's all about practice and no fear my dear fellow friend. Keep trying ^^
I was about to call dude out but it's literally just practice and getting a feel for the mechanics of your body's body's and weight to the board it's different for everyone but people like this teaching basics is beyond incredible
Hey dude, I see you’re doing all types of tricks now, safe to say the vid helped you out? Any other advice to someone like me who’s just starting out and can’t do an ollie yet.
