Think twice about Botox - it's not as good as you think

Is Botox worth it? Possibly it's not as good as you think and it's possibly making us look weird and we're not even aware of it. There are other factors as well we need to consider when getting it done. such as, is the cost worth the short term affects? what is Botox immunity? Do we actually need to be freezing our faces this much?

I can see how your expressions are limited and how that would be frustrating as the whole point for our face and facial expressions is just that-to express how we feel. Thank you for your viewpoints!

I have no idea why this video popped up on my you tube, but I watched it. Great conversation! I always have the same MD, and I did not start until I was 45. I am 48 now. I only do my forehead, just a small amount along with laser and I love the results. I still look like myself, but more refreshed. I feel like I would have had different expectations if I started younger. We are all beautiful at every age, but I agree women in their 20's and 30's don't need it.

Same I’m not sure why it popped up in my feed either but I’m loving it too! I’m 40 this year and I have had deep 11’s for 15 years but they never bothered me until this year they’ve become even deeper and my skin is slightly concaving under them. Well, I tried Botox last week just on my 11’s and I love it! I’m glad I didn’t do preventative all these years but I can see why others may want to. What does the laser help with? Apologies but I’m new to all this! ❤

@@Thecatremedy I do the v-beam and IPL lasers which help even out skin tone, get rid of age/sun spots and broken blood vessels. These have very little down time, you might have a bit of bruising but can cover with makeup the next day. I live in California and go to a cosmetic dermatologist. There is a laser they try to push that makes you look 10 years younger, but there is a long down time (weeks) and it basically peels your whole face off. I am a nurse and I am like no thank you, I worry about infection or something going wrong. I happy with the mild lasers and aging naturally with a bit of help. Also, I notice that it really works best at times I have a better diet and less alcohol, so that really does make a difference.

Agreed Danie. I focus on keeping the quality of my skin the best it can be. I have seen people with "botox face", but their skin is pretty coarse or dry or has pigmentation spots. I think keeping your skin as best it can be looks fresher than a too frozen or overly filled look.

It's funny that this video was in my feed. I turn 40 in a month and I made my first appointment for botox just a couple days before my bday. Recently my 11 stays and it does not go away and I don't like it because I feel like it makes me look angry. I guess Im a bit insecure about aging. I feel like the last 2 or 3 years I noticed it and it happened so fast. More lines, gray hair, hyperpigmentation. I think I'm gonna cancel my appointment and wait some more. You can only see it from close. I still don't like it but I think I'm gonna take your advice and wait. Also the doctor has waaaay to much botox and filler and she does not look good. Really unnatural. I dont want to look like that. I'm gonna focus on improving my skin and working on myself and my insecurities. Thank you!

I’m 40 this year, and I’ve had 11’s for about 15 years. I never cared until this year, but mine are very very pronounced and very deep. I did try botox for the first time last week and I’m extremely happy with it and was surprised how I didn’t have any reactions to it. Now I don’t know if I can justify the cost longterm but it has even helped my tension headaches because I frown heavily all day and night. If I had lighter 11’s like you I would recommend the frownies or any night patches that will stop you frowning at night. They didn’t work too well for me because my 11’s were already super deep but I think they will help you a lot! I tried them years ago when mine were lighter and they worked but I didn’t continue them. I really wish I had ❤😢

The more you can wait the better. But if you find it's really bothering you, you can get it a small amount, and when it fades out, just space out your appointments so you don't grow immunity to it.

Just booked an appointment for a refill, it's my second time in total and I'm 31. I have really bad headache from frowning alot. I am taking care of my skin and it's not bad but wow what a difference it makes to my headache and sleep. So I think the reason is the factor that makes the decision.

This was me at 31 and let me tell you I wish I had started frownies or forehead patches at your age at night. I’m 40 this year and my 11 lines were so deep (up until a week ago- I got my first Botox injection for my 11’s) and my headaches have stopped and the 11’s have smoothed a lot, but not gone away. I still have to wait the full two weeks but I’m very happy with the results.

How many units did you get?

I can't remember. But I know when I began in my early 30's I would get around 30. Which I think was too much that early on.

@@DaniefromCanada oh yea I would think so. I still don’t get 30 and I’m 51. I know tho the amount we all need/want varies by individual obviously. I have a few horizontal lines but still want quite a lot of movement and whatever she does gets rid of my lines but does allow me to have a good amount of expression. I have, like you, experienced what I thought was a slightly angry look but that did subside. I kept looking at myself thinking I looked older and finally realized that’s what it was. For now I’m just most interested in having her focus on two notable lines. Appreciate your content! You’re beautiful btw! 🤎
