I so agree. 18 months into carnivore I started using stevia for about 4 months and my A1c went UP! I stopped it 3 months ago and my A1c is back down to 5.0. It had rose to 5.9! Lesson learned. It was THE ONLY sweet thing I was eating. It's not suppose to affect blood sugar, but it surely did mine. I feel better again. It's not in my house anymore. I do not miss the sweet taste any more.

Pure Stevia does not make your blood sugar go up. It probably wasn’t the Stevia and if it was then it’s the other sweeteners they cut it with

Gosh, for the last 45 years I’ve attempted to wean my husband and daughters away from sugary drinks and processed foods. They are all fit runners and athletes. Here I am a fatty Patti who can barely walk a mile! Life can be so unfair!

100% this. For me sweet things are a rare treat and they have to be good quality and properly made, not massively produced crap full of even worse ingredients than sugar. The idea of drinking soda these days makes me cringe.

Funny how the appeal leaves you when you stay away from it for a while. Messed up one day and what I thought was just a fizzy water was some sweet flavored junk. One sip and I seriously thought I was going to barf. No joke. Crazy how the memory of all that stays fresh and tempts you at times but the reality when you go there is far different than the memory. Guess it's just burned into our brains to crave it after years of getting it?

Same for me exactly. My wife drinks sweet tea, I've never liked sugar in my tea. One night while we were doing the dishes I figured I'd polish off the rest of my tea. I took a drink and to my disgust, I realized I drank hers. It was quite nasty. It reminded of just what I wasn't really missing in the sweets I once ate three years ago before Keto-Carnivore.

Once I started eliminating sugar laden things: (coca-cola was my addiction!), sugar in my tea; I realized I felt so much better. I would drink a coke & not eat - work & sweat it out then crash. Repeat. It’s now been several years & I don’t miss it.

I found out that when I get to craving sweet stuff after a meal, or even between meals, I get a pinch of mixed nuts, almond, walnuts, pecans, Brazil nuts etc. I get a boost that I really need (77 yrs)

I detoxed off grains the first month of carnivore. I took a bit longer detoxing off sugar, but I got there. Now there are no cravings at all for anything sweet. I’m so thankful Dr. Berry’s video came across my utube screen and opened my eyes to carnivore!

I would say that any kind of sugar is an addiction and not a habit. Once you quit eating sugar, your skin, hair, teeth, gums your gut will improve a lot.

I admit it, I'm a sweet junkie. But I'm down to two vices; Cream with a tiny bit of stevia. I probably consume 200 to 500g most days. Also, a cup of hot water with the juice of half a lime and a tiny bit of stevia. That's my comfort drink. 62 years old, 16 months or so of only meat, eggs and cream, and I'm doing awesome health wise...so I really don't care about those vices. (And I still get my SWEET fix! 😋)

Just think of the mess you can avoid once you stop putting sugar in coffee! I quit sugar in coffee around 1965 or sooner (I was around 21 yo). ALSO, when I went low carb Dec 2020, I have no longer had the mess of bread crumbs to deal with .. NO TOAST CRUMBS in the silver ware drawer (don't even know how so many crumbs got in there). I never was a big soda drinker .. but I could really pig into ice cream. Now my treat is berries topped with 5% fat Greek Yogurt .. sometimes I salt the berries a little. Sometimes I salt coffee and sometimes have a thick pat of butter on the side :) People eating sweets or sweeteners .. QUIT IT!!!!

After being a sugar junkie for my entire life, stopping cold turkey is extremely hard. I do a couple of sucralose sweetened electrolytes a day and that is all. No brownies, chocolate bars, cakes and cokes, but the electrolytes makes that possible.

I started drinking Zevia sodas (sweetened with stevia). I thought, "What's the harm? It's just carbonated water and stevia." Well... my skin tags started coming back. 😬 The sweet taste of the stevia must've been causing a cephalic insulin response and raising my insulin. I haven't had any for a week or so and my skin tags have gone away again.

I stopped all sugars years ago. No sugar or milk in hot drinks for over 50yrs. I have never drank coke in my life or flavoured drinks. I put lemon or orange pieces in spring water, it's refreshing and much better.

There was a time when my meal didn’t taste good without cold Coca-Cola!!!!! Now food isn’t good without ice water!!!!! I never dreamed water could be so good!!!!! Other than coffee in the morning water is all I drink! Quitting sugar,carbs and seed oils has changed my life tremendously!!!!! I feel better than I have in 20 years! ( I’m 53 M )

I decided to make a keto cake ( monkfruit etc...). It tasted fantastic. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling horrible, dizzy etc...Like a hangover. Not worth it. I tossed the rest of the cake. I think it signaled my body's insulin.

Addicted to the sweet taste. I use monkfruit and stevia and allulose. I'm trying to cut back. My therapist says because i have so little positive and beneficial things in my life right now, the sweets after meals makes me feel happy. But 5 yrs ago before my life went to shit, it was simple. I never wanted anything sweet.

You may need to get a new therapist. That us terrible advice. We are here to help you break that sugar addiction, and the only way I have found to really do it is to get all the sweet tasting things out! It's like a switch goes off in your brain when you do this. Instead of letting sweets comfort you, go to God in His Word and in prayer and ask Him what His will for your life is....go make friends or acquaintances....try a new sport. Reward yourself with something other than food. You could even plan a meat up where you live and meet like minded people who are going through similar things. And get a new therapist! ❤❤❤

If you need something sweet, just drink raw milk. Tons of nutrients, minerals, healthy fats and proteins, and should be good enough to fill your sugary “cravings.”

I have learned that at least for me it comes down to that dopamine hit. I've been addicted to a number of things, but when you really boil it down what I'm addicted to is that dopamine hit. Which is why when I would get rid of one addiction I would be looking to replace it with another. I'm trying to break that cycle now, but it's hard. Especially when I've already quit so many things ... smokes, coffee, sugar, grains, vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, legumes (which I don't really miss tbh), tea or other caffeine, and even games that are TOO fun and have me playing them for hours a day. Pretty much the only thing left is sweet taste from allulose and keto yogurt (and keto ice cream when I can find one I tolerate OR if I can find a recipe I like). And I don't have that all the time. Sometimes I'll have it once or twice a day, sometimes once or twice a week, and sometimes only once or twice a month. I'm just not quite ready to give that up, especially since it's not causing me any issues, at least that I've noticed.

Weird as this sounds, I've learned to get my dopamine hit from knitting. Better to have more socks than I need instead of more pounds than I need. Also knitting is cheaper 😂

Every week to a couple weeks, I will eat a pint of Rebel vanilla ice cream with a sugar free root beer. Does it keep me addicted to sweet stuff? Probably. Does it immediately cause gut distress and inflammation that I can feel and see? Without question. It’s a mix of toxic crap that tastes incredible, and I always regret eating. But my theory is, if you’re going to fall off the wagon. Do it as close to the wagon as possible, and get it over quickly. Don’t binge pizza. Have something that won’t kick you out of ketosis, or if it does, don’t have it be a nuke of carbs, and then have that be over. Have your moment of weakness, then get back to work. Ideally just don’t at all. But if you have to, don’t just grenade yourself.

I literally find sugary drinks disgusting. Offer me a soda and I will refuse every time. I drink my coffee unsweetened too, but I will have an iced cappuccino from Tommy's in the summer here and there. Very rarely. That's the only sweetened drink I can actually enjoy. I feel like sugar is supposed to enhance your food, like a lightly sweetened cake. Not supposed to drown out all the other flavors.

I accidentally got off coffee and tea. I just drink water, one of those i add electolytes. I do take a shot of grapefruit juice and add a couple drops of iodine. Prefer the unsweetened but is hard to find.

Go to a good food store & buy some Stevia & proper milk (about 3% fat, no added sugar IF possible). Use this in your coffee & ONLY drink coffee from home. In terms of food, try to stop eating rice, pasta, and anything fried in so called vegetable oil. If you feel a craving for sweets, make popcorn from scratch using ONLY the actual corns & virgin cold pressed olive oil. If you are out&about, then buy a small piece of good quality dark chocolate & NOTHING more for ”sweets”. Morning meal: Buy greek basic youghurt with NO sugar added. You can use this youghurt also as a base for some great side sauce with meet & fish - you feel, after à while, that you need more actual food like that & I recommend that you barbeque and/or fry in butter etc. There’s more, but above is plenty enough & it will take a few months to adjust your pallet. Let it take time & keep watching this channel & also dr Sten Ekbergs. Both are very informative and explain how to stay healthy. Good luck onwards!

I weened off using foods sweetened with allulose. Then I started to have those things less frequently as my insulin levels regulated. And then I cut all sweet tastes out and that is when I noticed the big difference. Once you stop putting sweet tasting things in your mouth, it's like a switch goes off in your brain and you don't even crave it anymore!

Dr Barry mentions substituting options then slowly cut back over a few months. You will find that it tastes strong even when you reduce it. Then one day you’ll lose interest. May not seem like it now, but it does come about. I can smell sugar from about 3 feet away now it’s so strong and it makes me really sore if eat it so I avoid it.

Yea, we need to ask why do teenagers need even the sugar free Red Bulls and Monster energy drinks when they have a bunch of energy 🤔 the caffeine and other ingredients along with vitamin B they can get with burgers and livers.

4 months carnivore. My job is very strenuous so I was having hard time keeping weight on. Added pint of non dairy ice cream every 3 days to my diet. It's not the healthiest but works for me.

Why not eat real full fat ice creams? There are a few brands that don't have fillers & gums in them. Like Strauss. Non - dairy is full of non - real foods.
