I was 10 in 1988 and remember being allowed to stay up late and watch Saturday nights main event. I discovered SNL the next Saturday when I stayed up late again to see if there was another main event.

I was 11 in 1988, and I remember one day when I had invited some of the older kids over to watch some war movie, or something of that nature. That commercial came on during one of the most intense scenes in the movie, and the guys laughed, because I did the Archie Bunker "Aw, geez!" reaction.

I was 7 at the time, and it was indeed a great decade to grow up in, along with the 90's, at least in my small town we rarely had to worry about crime, kids could play outside all day with no worries, and if you forgot to lock your car at night, no big deal, and neighbors looked out for each other like family.

@@boskostoybox Mine where more like till dinner time, and more so when I was at my grandmother's place of which I stayed at a lot because of the nice neighborhood, it's where the bus would drop, me, and my step brother off after school till my mother got home from work, and because it's where a lot of my friends lived. Now I own her place as I took care of her in her last years, and she decided to leave the house to me, and I've stayed because my work is only a few minutes away, so for me still a lot of strong fond memories of growing up all around me.

With everything going on these days sometimes I forget that some crazy stuff went down in the 80s too. A sniper shooting and an armed hostage taker in one day. I looked up the stories, and the sniper thought he was shooting someone who got in a fight with him earlier. Turned out to be an unrelated group. The hostage taker was a Native American who claimed he was fighting corruption and injustice. He went to jail but was let out early and then murdered someone else. That Visions cookware seems like such a good idea, I wonder why they weren't more successful. Maybe they were heavy? Or not as durable as advertised?

One of my grandmothers had the visions cookware, it was heavy, not the most durable being glass, and as it aged into the 90's looked outdated when people updated/upgraded their kitchens.

Indeed, 1988 was the year my friends finally got me into pro wrestling. Though it wasn't because of that episode of The Main Event (I'm assuming the one advertised here was the same one where Andre beat Hogan (via the Dave and Earl Hebner twin referee angle) and sold it to Ted DiBiase), but later in the summer when Randy Savage introduced Hogan as his SummerSlam tag partner. It was also the year I finally started listening to the radio instead of just whatever my older sister happened to playing on my dad's hi-fi.
