I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I think a good test to do would be to blindfold Rick and put either a Kirkland ball or Pro V in front of him for putts. This way we would be able to see how close the feel is to the Pro V.

I used the previous model last year. For my swing I didn't notice any loss of distance and received a noticeable increase in spin on approach shots and especially the wedges. Durability was exceptional I must say. I was never able to get stop and drop from any ball but have found this was doable with this golf ball. Costco has been methodically making more and more inroads into the retail golf market with "quality for price" products. Good to see these type of changes in the market because people can afford to get into the game or upgrade what they now have or even upgrade more frequently because of these lower priced quality for dollar offerings.

I found a mint condition one of these at my local course on the weekend. Played the rest of the round with it and was seriously impressed. Went straight to Costco from the course to get some more and of course they were sold out.

Thanks Rick. I especially like the fact that you do the durability tests. Sure we might lose a ball before we scuff it. But that is one of the big areas were cheaper balls fail. I will play with a lot of different balls, but Titlist Pro V1 is my favorite. It is a great ball and very durable. For example, I love Pinnacle Gold balls, they feel great and I play well with them. But they are not the most durable balls out there. Also used to love Top Flight XL 2000 but they also have the same issue. So the fact that these Kirkland balls are more durable is a huge selling point.

After watching this video I bought some used kirks at Walmart. First day out I shot the best round of my short golf career. Putting with them was amazing. Performed as well as the vice pros I normally buy. Since then I have gotten a Costco membership just to buy the balls as they will pay for themselves. It definitely performs like a ProV1. I use them for practice rounds only. The difference I found is that the ball does get scuffed up much sooner than a ProV1. I go through 1-2 balls per round & ProV1 will last for about 27 holes with minimal scuffs (unless I’m hitting trees). Durability is not that good if you’re hitting out of fairway bunkers or if you’re hitting, say, 50-60 yard shots that you want a lot of spin to stick it or zip it back. The cover can’t handle too many of those. All in all, still a good ball for the price.

Even if it’s 1/3 as durable for 1/4 the cost, you’re better off with the cheaper ball. Just switch out the ball 3x as frequently. You’re still saving money.

I was in the golf business for over 10 years and changed careers . At my peak I was a 5 handicap and would play either the Srixon XV or Pro VIX ; I went through a period of not playing much at all over a 2 year period and recently getting back into it and refused to pay 48 dollars for a dozen of golf balls and came across the Kirkland ball and bought them on a whim before a family vacation to Destin and was really impressed with the ball. It’s a much softer feel than what I was used to but for the price you can’t beat it

I've been playing the V2 Kirkland Signature for the past year, and at least as a high-handicapper, I love them. Great feel, good spin, and if one goes in the pond, oh well, it was a buck. Arguably the best deal on golf balls you can find.

Very nice that they're consistent and durable. I've recently bought into trying the Pro V1 for the season, but I think for practicing and beating around, these might be the ones to try. At that price, you really can't go wrong. I paid $65 CDN for my dozen Pro V1s. Costco sells the Signature V2.0 24-pack for $35 CDN. Fantastic review. I probably won't give up a premium ball for on-course, but these would be fantastic to fill up the practice bag with to get similar feel and not beat up your good stuff.

@@TripsView Agree. I found them to be fine with short game , putting and even irons but with driver, fairway woods and long irons they do not carry as far as premium balls.

@@rayhayduk3668 yeah they’re awesome around the green to be fair. Check nice and feel soft and anything up to about 8 iron is not bad but once that swing speed starts climbing the back spin is too high

Love it. Bit of a comment on your method, I think you need to compare to ProV1 every time you do this test because yes you're showing club and ball speed but there will be variability to how you're striking it that day and as you know you'll get different spin and carry depending on where you're hitting on the face. This great but that would improve your methodology I think. I used to describe these balls as 98% of a ProV1 at a quarter of the price back on the V1 which had the durability weaknesses and a bit of driver distance issues. I'm thrilled to see it passed your durability test on the V2 and kept up to ProV1 in the driver, now I can say it's 99.5% of a ProV1 at 25% of the price :)

What a find! Purchased 12 from eBay for 19£ to try them out. First impressions as good as any premium ball. So far used to practice putting indoors. They will be in the bag for summer/ dry golf as don’t believe you need a three piece ball to play winter golf in the uk. Cheers Rick.

I’ve watched every RU-vid ball test of the Kirkland and the results are all similar. Unless you have a 120+ clubhead speed, which resulted in higher than desired spin numbers with driver, its pretty hard to beat them. TXG did a fairly extensive test and they were shocked at the results. If you think about it logically, they’re (more than likely) saving costs on quality control, R&D, but most importantly, (as far as cost) marketing. The big Golf brands spend exorbitant amounts of money on marketing and endorsements. And as far as the qc goes, I may be mistaken, but I believe Bryson had said he chose Bridgestone balls because he was floating several manufacturers balls in water with epsom salt to find the center of gravity. He said Bridgestone balls were the most consistently centered. Meaning there were several $50/box balls that were not. I understand elite golfers buying ProV1s etc, but if you’re launching 2-3 balls in the woods a round, they’re worth a try, they’re $24 for two dozen!

Been using these for a while, was on the V1 before that. For most amateurs they are more than enough. Plus, if I hit a £1 deep into the trees I'm not wasting time, slowing up the course, looking for it. :). Basically it shows that what was once expensive R&D is now commodity knowledge.

I think when it comes down to the best ball for 95 percent of golfers it would be the Kirkland without question. Yes there are better balls for specific players and styles, but the quality for the cost makes this the best overall ball on the market.

Ive used the Kirkland as my practice/winter ball for years (along with Snell). the lower spin of the driver is a plus as it matches my TP5X, but i do notice a drop off in distance. apart from that i love them for £1 ball.

I've not tried the V2 yet but I love the original ones in the green box. Great feel all round and I hit them as far as any other ball. I even managed to keep hold of one for a couple of rounds and it had barely a mark on it. I'll have to give the V2 a try.

I love the way this ball performs! Just to see how long one holds up I’ve played 4 rounds with the same ball. AMAZING! I stock up on them every time I can BUT, BEWARE! A lot of COSTCOs still have the origins in stock. Look for the “2” on the box. Plus it’s a couple of dollars more than the original.

Rick, would be great to see the real world difference between a ball flight in summer and winter. Some balls warmed up, some frozen? Hit some very cold balls (left in the car overnight) and it was like hitting concrete. Would love to see the difference in flight and distance etc.

I've been spin checking ball center points for a couple years now and the Kirkland lineup continues to impress on and off the course. I'm all in on all the Kirkland golf gear spending my savings on tee times and instruction. If you've got the ego to take it, that "supermarket" gear does the trick...and then some. The owners of Titleist literally sued Costco for the first iteration of the ball. The Kirkland golf ball is quite simply the best ball at the price range available in the UK. If you're paying full whack for Pro V1 or TP5, the truth is you're paying for the brand...400% more than what you should be paying

Durability is this balls down fall, bought v2s last year scraps and scuffs definitely show quicker than normal but for $ a ball still prefer these over other balls. For the price and feel they are hard to beat

Budget balls are especially good for amateurs who shoot more wild shots and go swimming more than pros do. Why lose a $4 ball every few shots when you can lose $4 every few holes? Averages out nicely, and you get the same money invested that good pros do. Then, when you're accurate enough that the same sleeve or two sit in your bag every outing, you can invest in the premium balls.

I have been using this ball exclusive. Love the green side short iron feel, control, spin. The only knock I have is you will give up around 10 yards off the tee vs. some Premium golf balls. For me, it comes down to a cost of $4.00 American Dollars per ball for that 10 yards. Not worth it to me.

Hey Rick! Big fan of all of your videos and product reviews! Have been a follower for a few years now! As a club fitter here in the states, I was wondering if you have ever considered making a video describing different shafts and what a mid/low kick point looks like and who these shafts would fit better? I see a lot of amateur golfers swinging shafts they have no right swinging and it hurts their game. I think with your touch, you can show viewers the importance of having the right weight/shaft for their driver/woods etc Anyways cheers and thanks for providing quality content for us golfers!

Cheers Rick. When I went back home to Manchester, I used the original Kirkland model back in October for the first time and shot my lowest score of 79 around The Mere. Said at the time, I couldn't tell any difference with the Pro V1. Went the entire round with the same ball, last really well too. Will have to get my parents to ship me a box of these over to Singapore!

Very interesting review I stopped using the old Kirkland balls this month due to them not even lasting a round before the cover was in a terrible state. May have to give these a go and save my Srixons for the summer.

I purchased a two dozen box early fall last year 2021 and found them very good all around, except they were soft off of the putter face, I consistently left 15 to 20 foot puts short, just could not get them to the hole without changing my stroke/hit for that length of putt. I put that putter in the locker and went to my old Zapp Kappa IV putter and got the ball to the hole, first putter used just has a soft face insert for this ball. Good video Rick, thanks.

Rick I had no idea that golf balls varied so much! Thanks for your knowledge and expertise with all your videos. I’m hooked watching them all. I recently bought some Srixon balls and could actually feel the softness and difference off the putter. Would love to know if the air temperature makes much difference to how they play? I live in Western Australia and it is stinking hot at present.

I like playing Vice Pro Line balls. Feel as good as Pro-Vs and I get the same distance too for a fraction of the price.

Hey Rick - love the videos. Went to Costco to pick up theses balls and give them a try. Verdict- great. Good feel, similar distance, but huge improvement in spin. On the greens. Never would have given them a go without seeing your review. Thanks.

I normally play Srixon ZStar but after watching this, I went down to Costco and bought a box. I have to admit, was super impressed. Will definitely be using these going forward. Makes those lost balls a lot easier to swallow...

Just picked up a box, I'm from Saskatoon SK Canada 24balls =$30.00 I started golfing 2 years ago and watch you, Matt and Peter all the time to learn and improve my game. Its fun to watch you guys just play but I take and keep notes on cards to help improve my shots while I play. Best advice you give is just to enjoy a very difficult game. Thanks for all the help and advice you give to all golfers.

I've played kirkland sig. and they are a premium ball. I used one from the start, to finish, 9 holes and it held up and played great!!

Great video that can make a difference for any golfer on any budget! I would love to see a direct comparison video between Kirkland and other top balls in a driver distance test that lets us analyze the data and see if your 156 mph ball speed was the ball or just other factors that particular day. Also would be great to do a test like this with your swing speed (110 mph) and also a more average golfer's swing speed (95-100 mph) to see if that makes any difference.

I always played Prov 1 until I tried the Kirkland ball. They are great. Good distance and feel. I play off 7 handicap and have noticed no difference from Pro V1's. The Financial benefit is superb.

Played 5 rounds with the same Kirkland Signature ball. Hit trees and many sand shots and the ball still looked and performed well. I have no issues with durability.

If I’m hitting multiple full wedge shots into greens the ball is scuffed after nine holes that being said I love the ball and it’s great. I’ve heard complaints about it ballooning off the driver but I haven’t had that issue and this ball is at least for me 5-8 yards longer than the Bridgestone 330rx I used to play. I’m also stunned the amount of spin I get on chips out of the rough around the green. Love this ball.

I play with a mix of these and maxfli tours, I use kirks on par 3s due to the spin and usually club up, tours on par 4s and 5s

I have used the Kirkland golf balls for awhile now. I do like them quite a bit. The differences between a Kirkland and prov1 are so subtle. However, I will say all it takes is one bladed wedge for them to unplayable. I even competed in a tournament recently at my club, brand new ball, first hole, perfectly struck gold ball from 100 yards (full wedge), and you could see considerable damage. It looked very similar to what a premium golf ball would look after hitting the cart path. This stuck out to me so much because I grabbed a new ball (only did so because it was a tournament) and the exact same thing happened on the third hole. They are 1/4 the price but are not durable, I play them, just something to keep in mind.

I been using the same Kirkland version 2 golf ball for 4 rounds now, which is a miracle in itself! After about 360 shots, including out of bunkers, it still looks almost as good as new. It is indeed durable and seems to go and fly as well as any premium golf ball. Great value for just over a Pound each! 👍

I have two bags. One I use for tournaments and travel. I keep Titleist Pro V1 balls in that bag. My second bag I use for every day playing at my home course. I keep the Kirkland Signature in that bag as my everyday ball. It feels and performs as good as any other ball I ever played. Maybe a few yards shorter with the driver than a Pro V1, but nothing that noticeable. I haven’t had any issues with durability and I been gaming these balls since they came out. I originally started gaming the Four piece Costco balls and switched to the three piece when they stopped making them. I still have four boxes of the original four piece Costco balls that I am keeping as souvenirs. Great video like always.

I play these pretty consistently because my course has a lot of overgrown native grass and I love them. Plus, it’s not too painful when I lose them.

I normally play the Titleist AVX, Pro-V1,Taylormade TP5x and the Bridestone Tour BXS. I have recently tried the Snell MTB and MTB-X and really like them. I have seen my highest ball speeds and longest distances with the MTB-X and I seem to be a little more consistent with them. I would love to see you do an evaluation of the Snell balls.

I’ve always heard that the Kirklands were actually comparable to the ProV1’s not better but close. I wouldn’t be able to rly know the difference between a good ball and bad only playing golf for 3 months (haven’t played in months bc of snow here) but it’s rly nice to see a review from someone who knows what they r talking about.

Ive been playing Kirkland for a couple of years mainly because the rough to our place in summer is knee deep and anything that goes in stays in (pathetic but don't get me started) Some of my regular group scoff at my 'cheapy' ball until the other day I switched out my ball for a pro v1 on the tee.....he creamed the drive, hit an 8 iron 10 yards past the pin and spun it back to 3 ft...i then congratulated him on his use of the Kirkland.....at his request I bought him two dozen yesterday !

I use the Titleist True Feel balls most of the time. Usually around $26 a dozen. Not the best ball for distance but super consistent.

These are awesome. I used to use found golf balls across water and many times they weren't great. They'd still go in since they were usually worn out. K-Sig V2 is my across the water ball, now. They're accurate and inexpensive. I till go with my Taylormades, but when the water shows up and I'm not hitting well, out come the K-Sigs.
