These things are full here in Africa and they were imported from Japan. Super reliable and super strong components on these that last long. That 1kzte engine is a sweetheart. Just wished they sold more of these in manual, or just do a manual swap which isn't that complicated.

Somewhere in Thailand 3rd gen 4Runner has a twin called Hilux Sports Rider basically an SUV that has pure Hilux DNA. The Hilux surf diesels were discontinued before the 4th Gen 4Runner that has rare diesel in limited numbers

I'm in the process of ordering one. I have a 97 Toyota Crown from Japan. They are built so much better than vehicles here in the U.S. Another car i'll have to wait a bit longer (unless i get lucky) is a 98 Honda Accord SiR wagon, also coming from Japan.

A hilux suv version is just a great concept to me.

2:17 I hate to be that guy but your wrong. The SSR-X models come with a 2.7 Litre petrol engine. I own the exact same truck and in all honesty if you are to buy one of these go for the diesel model. Ive owned mine for about a year and there can be some issues with overheating while offroading. Unless you have money to afford a stainless steel snorkel and pod filter box it will get hot!
