I owned an estril blue 2016 335d a couple of years back and loved it. I had it remapped to 378bhp and it was identical performance to my mates M4, and even quicker from a standing start. I sold it because it was so effortlessly fast, I knew it was just a matter of time before I got nicked for speeding.
@@Acheillidh_01 you should get it done, as I have just recently and really shifts in comfort mode alone, and the noise from exhaust is louder. up to 378bhp and over 700Nm
I've got a 2013 F30 330d M Sport which I've owned for 12 months and it still puts a smile on my face and I've still not got used used to the performance. I've been 0.60 in 5.2 seconds and average 40 mpg and its looks epic in Estorail Blue... I genuinely love it!
Had my 335d xdrive for about 2 years now and it still puts a smile on my face. Using the different modes (eco, comfort, sports) makes it feel like you're driving different cars.
Great review ! I’ve had fast cars ( skyline 10.9 @ 141 ) Looked at loads of cars and decided on a perfect all rounder ... 335d xdrive Had mine tuned just a map and intercooler ( still has dpf , so totally road legal ) Now dragy proven 11.7 q/mile and 3.6 0-60mph ... averages 44mpg ! Best car I’ve ever owned 😍
Just got a 67 plate 335d last week. Can not find fault with it. Just had it mapped & it absolutely fly’s. Getting just over 30mpg ! Literally ticks all the boxes you want & will defo out perform most hot hatches for the traffic light Grand Prix 😂. I’ve had focus st, Rs3, Rs4 & r35 GTR (663bhp) this is probably my favourite. De badged too make it even more under the radar 🤫
I’ve just purchased me a 335d upgrade from a 118d ! I made my choice because while on the road an old m3 came behind me then overtook me on a short dual carriageway then further up he must have slowed down, so I was tearing up the road and went to pass him then he dropped it down a gear and took off so couldn’t pass ! when he overtook me earlier he took a good look at my badge and new he could have me so now I have a debadged rocket and I’m just waiting for my chance of revenge 😈
I am the middle aged man of which you speak and have recently bought one of these. Everything you said about the 335D is spot on. They’re just bloody epic and yes they do embarrass many cars. Hardly anything else will get off the line as quick as one of these. Great fun without being loud and in your face. It’s that huge torque number that does it mated to the xDrive yet as smooth as silk especially with the twin turbo’s so no turbo lag at all. The added bonus is the 6 cylinder sound which is so undiesel like and very addictive. Great video.
@@lukeskywalker1666 kid, that's a totally different type of car. The idea is it's a mega practical diesel family car that's cheap to run and still quick and fun to drive. A C63 would annihilate a JCB... but you couldn't dig a massive hole with one could you.
@@lukeskywalker1666the fact you’re even watching this video clearly makes you aware of the 335d, it would destroy your M140i off the line, which is all that matters on UK roads. Off the line 😊
Great video and as a middle aged guy i completely agree that even if i could afford the m4, the performance diesel is a better choice for me and is genuinely more than enough car on UK roads. Personally i prefer the huge low down torque of these cars to the higher reving petrol engines anyway but thats just me and i cant be the only one or BMW would never have bothered making them.
I'm identical to you. I just love the huge surge of torque at any engine speed and it's much better than hearing an engine scream. I passed a police car in mine whilst accelerating hard, and although they looked, the fact they couldn't hear the engine revving made them decide I couldn't have been driving hard.
@@martinbond461 I think you might have a point there. I have never driven an M car but I am done with harsh suspension and engines you have to rev and, as diesels do indeed seem to be being phased out, i am glad I am witnessing the pinnacle of the diesel engine in these cars before it goes.
Got a 2016 Touring, same colour. Had a M240 before, to be honest it’s just as quick off the lights, great mpg, and so practical. It’s an off the radar gem
Had mine nearly 2 years. No problems at all. Had a stage 1 remap but added a larger intercooler to keep the remperatures down and hot the box mapped to keep it safe. Got 419bhp and 754Nm torque. Its a beast of a diesel. The power is so linear just keeps on pulling up to the red line. Puts a smile on mum face everytime I drive it
I’ve got a 530d touring - had it mapped to 320php and 620Nm - just come back from the Dolomites ( had a few blips on the Autobhan ) and still did 47mpg - the Straight 6 diesel engine is sublime !
Had mine for about a year, great car , find with mine there is no real need to go above 3k rpm, the power is relentless through the gears. Only downsides to the car are some of the interiors plastics and general rattles which are are more related to the F30 in general. Alot of used examples can be low spec (bus nav, no heated seats etc) however Engine and gearbox are the absolute highlight of the experience.
Yeah BMW can't make seats where the drivers bolster doesn't wear and can't make seats that won't at some point get an airbag sensor fault. The general plastics on the centre console and dash are wank too.
I have a F31 335d. It's no M3, but close enough. Embarrasses plenty of 'performance' cars, and returns decent mpg. And I can put the dogs in the boot! Ace review video by the way.
@@mohammedalobaidi8766 not as yet, only had it 6 weeks! Quicker than my e36 m3 and is up there with my Tommi Mäkinen evo 6 I had acceleration wise. It is so nice to drive with the 8 speed auto.
I'm one of those middle aged guys you are talking about. I had enough of hot hatches after my Golf R was stripped on the driveway and repeated attempts to steal it. Got a 435D 6 months ago and no sumbags have looked twice at it and I love it to drive. It covers ground at an astonishing rate yet is fun and comfortable as well. It really does tick every box.
I've got a 2010 XFS 3.0 v6 twin turbo, running around 320bhp and 520lbft... Anything other than a perfectly dry 20° day and any more than 20% throttle, traction is no longer a thing, incredibly fun car for a big diesel tank and still get around 28mpg around town. Got to love the feeling of beating 95% of cars you see daily on the road in such a unassuming car
So nearly went for that xfs. Its got a far superior interior compared to the 335dbjt then I drove the 335d. I ended up with an 08 335d Msport. Now with all the deletes done and a stage 2 im looking at 400bhp and like you say, not much can keep up with these oil burners. I do still look at an XFS if it goes past and wonder....what if?
Had a 2012 xfs remapped to 332bhp and 539ibft ...never had a problem with traction loss ..in fact wish the traction control could of been fully turned off as it would stop slip well before it really needed to . Living in the high peak and driving mainly country road it averaged 36mpg ..which wasn't to bad being driven the way it was .
Quick in standard form Got mine remapped to stage 2 Around 400bhp and 740nm torque 0-60 in 4.1 seconds! Looks standard 3 series plus I’m 50 years old and rag it daily Still have my license!!
i've got one, remapped to 400bhp and 760nm it's insane for a diesel. only downside is the exhaust why its only got a pipe on one side instead of a proper symmetrical twin exhaust is beyond me but its not that big of an issue. love the car....
I have 1 with 2 exhausts on each side I bought it like that I think it has been done by autovaugue but I could be wrong. Looks lovely and I have remapped it recently what a beast😄
Had mine just over 2 years now. Had One go with the Dragy, and hit 0-60 in 4.35 seconds. Up to 70 mph, it’s an excellent performer, and in all weathers. Long term economy is 36 mpg, but it has done over 550 miles on a tank at 47 mpg. Great daily runner.
I have the 435D msport convertible xdrive etc in Estoril blue. I have had lots of cars over the years S5 etc and its top notch. The drive is all things to all people so to speak, dependant on your mood you can pootle around and get great mpg and push the button to sports mode and goes like stink with a brilliant gbox and drivetrain. Two points to watch out for, make sure you get the dpf cooler checked under a recall notice and get seats with lumbar support, they don't all come with. Previously had a 335D gt msport and remapped to about 350 BHP 700 nm torques and was reliable and got the same if not better mpg may do the same with this one and it was like sonic the hedgehog.
I own one of these now. Very rapid, not bad MPG but not quite seen the 45-60MPG quoted on motorway on a long run. Best I've achieved with cruise control was about 42MPG in Comfort mode on a motorway stretch of about 60 miles. Not bad at all, rapid performance and pulls like a train. Wish I'd got one sooner. Went from a 17 plate Focus ST-2 remapped to 270Bhp, which then had the engine blow, to a temporary 20 year old Nissan 4x4 and now to this.
I do alot of driving from Northumberland to Scotland and on the fast flowing Northumberland B roads I've surprised more than a few performance cars in a F30 330d, once rolling there's not much between the 335 / 330d, surprisingly quick motors tbh
I’ve got a 2018 335d in Estoril blue, I debadged mine so nobody knows what it is. Currently running stock but once the EGR recall has been done by BMW I will be taking it to Pendle Performance for a stage 1 map. Heard the difference is unbelievable which to be honest I can’t imagine
Hi, I'm curious about your BMW 535d. You had it mapped to 370hp. Is it still reliable and safe to drive? Any problems? I heard that the fuel lines/pump need upgrading for a stage 1.
Bought one last week in part thanks to your review and I'm bloody lovin it. Effortlessly gobbles up tarmac 👍 And got the f31 for even less drawbacks... can't imagine needing anything else from a daily car.
Had a 65 plate 335d for 2 years now - it’s still a smile maker on a daily basis 😂 I can’t see me ever getting rid of it, in fact I was only thinking the other day if I did get another car, I’d keep the 335!
@@Thuds593 still got it, ours had been no bother until I drove it through some deep water recently 😂🤦🏼♀️ caused a complete host of problems 🙄🥴 but aside from that it had been great and is still going to be fair.
I have a 2011 e92 335D Msport in that stunning mineral white, the car is mint. Anyhow when it comes to tuning these engines you can get massive gains for a pretty small cost. For example mine has been stage 2 mapped with stage 3 gearbox map plus devil's own water meth kit, makes 410 bhp 0-60 mph under 4 seconds, the only problem is you have to be really good at launching it because in a way it's got to much power not enough traction & that's with ps4 tyres on....crazy.
Managed to get a 335d at the age of 21. Great performance, looks like an old mans car/ sleeper but raises eyebrows at the traffic lights when the foot gets put down lol
Had mine 5 days now and done 450miles in it but haven't gone anywhere, just going out driving. Haven't done that since before my kids were born. Immensely impressive car, a proper giant slayer! No it hasn't got pin sharp handling, but it's very capable and also comfy.... I love it!
@@Breadstar90 Prices are high, inflation is about to increase because of all the free money being handed out. My car has 60k on but main dealer warranty and full service history plus new major service and MOT done prior to collection. Mine is pretty well specced up, but was 21k. Well chuffed with my purchase! Milage isn't an issue as long as they are looked after. I'd rather buy a 3year old car with 60k motorway miles, than one with 20k worth of down the road and back miles 😉
Girlfriend owns a 435D and that’s the xdrive too, unreal amounts of torque from those things, I love getting out my 330D and jumping into the drivers seat of it 🤣
Is it a massive difference mate? I have 330d also 16 plate and wonder is it worth getting 335d. Many people state that the suspension is very soft on them 335d's
@@Rookiereece That is my very first BMW so any opinion is helpful. The difference between them is just one extra turbo really. My very first rwd also it is quite a fun.
@@bpedleyjazzguitarist yes absolutely! Amazing cars! Had mine from 18 months old and 15k miles to 51k with no issues at all and all the power and grip in the world
This is the best diesel engine you can get, twin turbo six, massive torque and solid power from factory. 👌 Agree totally the MPG is great, Tax is low, insurance isn't high. The only downside is you can't rev it up high and it doesn't sound as good as petrol straight six turbos such as the B58.
My heart is hankering for a Porsche 997.2, but my head is saying "just get the 335d estate and you can stick your bike in the back for easy weekends away, as well as have fun, and money left over".
Bought one 3 months ago and haven't regretted it. Plenty room in the touring boot and it goes like a rocket. Not much you come across day to day that will beat it.
@@busyhandspicking9421The V6 does actually burble and it pulls like a beast, but I now know far more than I ever wanted to about EGR valves and DPFs...
I've been looking at this car for a while! Planning to sell my 2.0 Mk7 golf diesel.. Big step up in power, but love the thought of bmw's 8 speed automatic as well, I've heard impressive things about it.. Can't wait. One day soon hopefully!!
I've got the previous gen e92 335d. 3 years in and I just can't think what I'd replace it with apart from maybe a 640d when it eventually dies. Running 400bhp for a while and its pre comedy watching most other things trying to keep up. Highly recommended
Best real world used car in the world IMO. doesn’t ‘need’ modding, but does sit a little high due to xDrive so I’m considering ACS springs - though I don’t have to wince when I see speed humps. I have the touring which is all thing to all men. Does everything. Get HK and adaptive suspension. Also get extended storage if you can. Big sunroof can leak so avoid.
I owned a F30 335d Melbourne Red 16 plate and miss the MPG massively, I own a G20 M340i as a natural progression. 335d a great car and without the badge a modern day sleeper!
@@none-qq9lg honestly? Not a big enough jump, yes the interior is newer and the power is nicer and sounds better but my fault I had the car 3 years and wanted something new
All these car RU-vidrs basically aim for the job Jeremy clarkson has there wannabes and this fool saying preformance isn’t gonna get him no where and yes it’s annoying as f••k when he says it 😂
Hows about this I own a 2013 335d X Drive had a Stage 1 software upgrade stock run before remap was 317 bhp @ 575 Nm torque . Now putting out 403 Bhp @ 723 Nm torque. . Going back in for a Wagner intercooler upgrade sooooon
re the brakes, They are good especially as BMW have a reputation for weak brakes on fast cars , my z3 2.8 I cooked them quickly as did my e46 m3. However the 335d you do feel the weight when braking, understandable thoug. I dropped a porsche 997 carerra 4 on a recent road trip. He couldn't believe the power or out of corner speed the car had.
I just got a 07 335D E90 withdpf delete EGR and a remap just needs an intercooler for stage 2 just need my gearbox remapping. I killed a Golf r the other week he didn't look happy.
335d gt ...I tow a caravan..very quick car...launch control..50 +mpg...bigger that a 5 series inside..4x4.. cheap insurance....please tell me what else can match it

I have an e91 my self basically the same power what an animal of a car. Would deffo gap m3s if you floor it first. Good idea on the semi slicks because I can barely hit half throttle without her breaking lose with tc off(I do all spirited driving with every assist possible turned off)
