Mike, as a fellow JVC owner please tell me that you allowed enough clearance for ventilation. The vents sure look like they are not fully open. The JVC 4k projectors put out a ton of heat. You have to make sure the heat gets out of that room and the projector can get some fresh air from behind.
I have the chief mount with the mount plate, I have another brand new mount plate for half off, if anyone is interested. Congratulations, and welcome to the nx7/RS2000 family!
I was supposed to be in New Zealand right now getting to see my girlfriend and her family in about 5 hours from now who i havent seen for over a year and i was to stay for 3 months and she was coming back to the US with me. But because of obvious reasons that couldn't happen so it's been a pretty gloom day for me. But your videos definitely brighten up my day getting to learn more about home theater and these awesome products that hopefully i get to have one day as well.
Oh man! My heart sincerely breaks for you Payne BUT I am sooooo grateful that you shared this with me! It's SUPER encouraging to know that my content is impacting people in ways I could never have imagined. Hope you get reunited with your girlfriend soon my friend!
@@Youthman Thank you so much, hopefully we all can get through this virus soon. I put my trust in God through all of this as well, He put me and my girlfriend in each other's paths for a reason so i know He will reunite us soon. Faith, home theater videos and videogames, that's how i plan to get through this virus haha.
Congrats on the upgrade! I made the same upgrade 2 months ago, and agree that the difference is amazing. I always thought my Epson had a great picture. I never thought it could be improved....until I installed the NX7! I was surprised when my wife and children when not asked, commented on how good the movie looked, and what changed! Enjoy your NX7!! I am interested in new chairs, any suggestions?
You made it sound as if the 5040ub only had 2 lens memory presets. It has 2 quick button lens presets but actually has 10 slots for lens memory position presets if you go into the menu.
How is the brightness compared to bright cinema on the Epson. Is the jvc just as bright as the Epson in their best calibrated mode? I have a 5040 and like the brightness.
Looks fantastic brother. My old Epson 5025UB looks good so I can’t comprehend how much better that Jvc is. Those videos you showed was mind blowing. I know it’s even better in person!!!! Congrats brother.
Great to see Youthman! As a JVC owner I knew as soon i heard you say you were getting an NX-7 that you were gunna absolutely love it!! Many hundreds of hours of enjoyment to come pal!
runany1 What size screen are you running? I know the blacks are amazing but how is the brightness? I have a grey screen so I was wondering if it’s bright enough (150 inches)
Thank you for the tip on the shelf installation. I switched from vertical 2x4s to threaded rods and lock nuts because of this. Worked great and was sooo helpful in getting my new NX7 level.
Congrats on your new PJ. I got NX7 and SI slate 1.2 gain 10 foot scope screen Dec 2019. Great combo. Have not calibrated yet and the image is still great. Once this virus thing is done I will get it calibrated. Add a paldin DCR lens and you will really be blown away
Great video. Shelf mounting projectors is the way to go. Much easier to make adjustments to the projector’s level and making sure it is square with the screen. It won’t wander like cheaper mounts can. I’m fortunate in that I have a storage room that the projector is in. I recommend shining it through a piece of Edmonds optics anti-reflective glass. It minimizes the fan noise in the room. Make sure the pj is staying cool.
@@Youthman One topic that never gets mentioned is HDMI cables for projectors. Especially over long lengths. Do you have any preferences? Did you go fiber optic HDMI? Thanks! Awesome channel.
Hello youthman! Love your channel! Im new to home theater and am in the process of building something out. I found a great deal on a nx7 and had a question about screen size. Right now i have the projector set up at a throw distance of 21 ft. I can shoot a screen size up to 168 inches. But should I? Will it effect the hdr contents? My setup is currently in a basement and I can have the room pitched black. Currently the walls are white but I can either paint them or get a grey or ALR screen.
Hi Mike, watch a lot of your vids. Nice work on the install. We have just ordered the Epson 6050 (9400 in Australia) as the difference between it and the Sony 290es was marginal when we compared them. The Sony was an extra $3600 and we couldn’t justify it. We want to use a 6:9 ratio at 140” screen. This JVC looks amazing. Your advice would be most welcome, should we cancel the Epson? Apparently Sony will be upgrading the 290es in the next year to a laser version so if we order the Sony we get a free upgrade when that hits the shelves. What do you think? Thanks again :)
You sound so giddy about it, it reminds me when I first got a N64 at Christmas haha. Congrats my good sir! Just now upgrading from my Epson 2150 to the 5040 because of your channel! Found one refurbished with 2 yr warranty thru Epson for $1,150. Had to go for it!
Michael wouldn't be a good idea to put padding underneath it for the vibration of the subwoofers in your room I would think that would help you have some pretty powerful subwoofers you might need padding underneath the projector but I'm not no expert so I wouldn't know but it's something you should look into
what image enhancement setting were you using on your 5040? I just got a 5050UB and every setting looks a little blurry compared to setting #5. The #5 setting is razor sharp and looks like 4K. In my testing there is a huge difference between the default setting 2 and setting 5 and I have no idea why more people aren't using that setting. So if you see that big of a difference between that JVC and the Epson its probably because you weren't running the Epson at max pixel-shift resolution(setting 5). I have a 158" cineascope screen sitting 17.5ft away (THX standard)
Ao exited for you. Im feeling poor just ordered the new optoma uhd50X with a motorizes elunevison reference 4k screen. For my first projector Im sure Ill be blown away but I wish I had the room for a JVC my throw needed to be under 10ft so even the entry level jvc wouldn't work. Congrats again
The reason Black levels are so hard to produce on a projector. Is because there is no Such thig as black light. So projectors make a very dark grey and make that grey look more black by having every around the grey be brighter and more vibrant.
Not really. I have seen various JVC projectors over the years and have always been working towards owning one. Sony owners seem to really like Sony as well.
Question, since you have a cinemascope screen how do you deal with Apple TV or netflix interfaces and menus ? Dont they get cut off since they are 16:9 ? looking into changing my screen was wondering...
JVC DLA-NX7 / RS2000 Native 4K Projector; Way Way over my budget. I am upgrading to a Marantz SR8012 from a Yamaha RX-V685 7.2-Channel AV Receiver with my two channels of Atmos / DTSX speakers silent in the ceiling. I will be running a BenQ HT2150ST 1080P projector until I can afford a BenQ HT3550 4K projecter.
I have a question :) Why people go nut with huge Left and Right speakers when 80% of the movie comes from the center channel alone pretty much ? and when I play music in my 5.2 system also most of the music come from the center is it really worth it or maybe Im using a wrong configuration, I'd love to have music in most of speaker specially the three in front ? thanks you great videos men
The best setup is to use identical speakers for your LCR. You are correct the center is one of the most important speakers in a home theater. Don’t skimp on it. But not everyone has the room for an LCR
@@Youthman Thanks you, Im thinking to get RP 504 Center and Rp 600M bookshelf with 500SA on top, Do yo guys ever bought Renewed on Amazon is that recommendable ? Last question, do you live in south Florida ? Im moving there next year ! thanks you
I did. Initially I thought the intake was in the front and exhaust was in the back but I now have it centered on the platform to give it plenty of ventilation in front and in back.
Black levels are incredible with the JVC. The colors on the NX9 are more natural (ex skin tones) and it provides much more detail than the 5040UB. The Epson was brighter but at the sacrifice of contrast and black levels.
Hey @youthman You need to start referring to your screen by how wide it actually is in width not corner to corner like TVs’ manufacturers lol. That is so old school and gimmicky. That’s only for making TVs seem like they are larger than they truly are. For all Home Theater purposes involving specs the width is so much more important. Seating distances, speaker angles, etc are all based around widths so just a heads up man.
Can't even imagine a climate that is warm enough all year to leave stuff outside like that.. lol ... it's not at ALL the same up here in the snowy north. =) .. Great STuff.. Enjoy the Home Renos / Movies =)
I have two wicker chairs that only lasted a few years due to the sun destroying them. Most of the time our weather is fantastic, July and August are brutal though
5 months ago me and a couple of my friends (one of them is a professional calibrator) made a 1vs1 between the N5 and the Epson 6050 (known as TW9400 here in Europe). We calibrated both projectors and beside the huge gap in price (the JVC costs more the double the Epson) the Epson was still better in most aspects (not the depth of black of course).
@@Youthman maybe the N7 is a huge step up from the N5 but what the Epson gives you for that price is impressive. Here in Italy you can buy the Epson for €2500 and the N5 for almost €6000 (N7 costs €8000).
@@Youthman you should definitely try the autocal feature on the N7, you can easily calibrate the projector using the JVC Autocal software and a Datacolor Spyder X or 5.
Glad to see how impressed you are out of the box! You need to get a Lumagen so you can do NLS (Non Linear Stretch) to make use of your entire screen when watching HD content. The lower level models of the Lumagens will produce this feature but can always spring for the Pro now that have a PJ that will make use of all it can provide. Or you could get a good quality lens and the entry level Lumagen for best of both worlds until can get the Pro ;-)
👍🏻 Wondered about that movie. 5.4.2 checking in here with full Marty sub and 5040ub. Everything is so enjoyable to watch! I even enjoyed The Greatest Showman haha
This question might be off topic, but I knew you would have a good answer. Regarding reference offset levels(denon), where do you set yours? -5, -10, -15, or off? Thank and keep up the great work!!!!
I do not use a reference offset. I simply adjust the volume to my liking which is typically around -15dB when watching movies. Try the different settings and see what works best for you. Hope that helps.
I’m surprised you haven’t talked about JVC other projectors but the price is a lot more but well worth the picture Which now I’m sure you’ll understand .nice video though
@@Youthman Don't take this the wrong way but your face looks like it gained a few pounds too? ha ha. So brown to look younger and grey to look distinguished???
