It's tinfoil hat time! Here is my big theory take on Rebirth that I've not seen anyone suggest. That the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been dunking multiple different Aerith's on us. Remake Aerith is the Flower Girl Remnant. Rebirth Aerith is the Aerith of Loss. The Aerith at dream date and potentially ending cutscene is Lover Aerith. Just like Sephiroth, Aerith did the unthinkable and played in different Avatars of herself that have each perform different tasks throughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake. A theory so wild that even Sephiroth didn't have enough tinfoil to predict. This theory explains the death sequence. The ending setup. The contradictions Aerith made throughout Rebirth and the personality changes thoughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake. If you love this theory, I'd appreciate feedback on your thoughts or even if you have reasons why its unviable. Share away! #finalfantasy #finalfantasy7remake #ff7rebirth #finalfantasyviirebirth #squareenix

@Straychocobo
I think that Aerith is trying to obliterate Sephiroth's soul by making him watch her go on dates with Cloud in every possible reality
@eldritchbidoof
I think the devs are trying to drop hints w/ the "3 gifts" on the date that those are the 3 Versions/Remnants of Aerith: the first game/Flowergirl one, the Bitter one (the bitter candy), and the Lover one (which ended up not happening because they didn't get their photo taken by the photographer)
@foreal7712
Just beat Rebirth yesterday! I was literally yelling at my screen for Cloud to deflect Sephiroth's blade and cheered like Square actually did it! But then fucking Fate course corrected. Screw Sephiroth and all his iterations! Poor Tifa unable to say a word as Cloud smiles talking to (maybe his own cope/psychosis or goddess/alt Aerith?) while everyone is still mourning. Need part 3 now! Anyway im on part 37 of your playthrough as you faceoff against the Shadowblood Queen. Yes make Queensblood an online game and give us a Soulslike final fantasy!
@salmark9080
how did people play Aerith's dream date sequence and not feel anything
@FinalFantasyPeasant
Damn dudes... if we were really experiencing different Aeriths throughout this Remake. Imma poop.
@J___G_
Wasn't remnants confirmed when she mentions at the beach "meeting her future self". She says this depending on your answer after you fight hojos machine at Costa. I read maiden who travels the planet, so when I heard that line, it convinced me of different Aeriths
@jaz4742
YES the lifestream chess game since OG. This is the theory that makes it also a sequel trilogy. Sephiroth and Aerith both playing chess trying to change the way things turned out after OG. But both know the only way to beat someone who knows everything is to introduce unknowns. Enter both new game+ Sephiroth and Aerith wanting the team to break fate and "remake" things. This is why they both knew things they shouldnt in remake.
@FinalFantasyPeasant
So what do you think guys? How possible does this madlad theory seem to you? I personally love it because it sets up a WAY higher omni-Aerith that could be pretty mind blowing. She's basically a social memory construct. Or a consciousness collective that has infinitely more power than we imagine. I'm hoping for that kinda crazy glow up lol

When Aerith mentioned "homecoming" it was sarcasm
@vejitasgirl
I love this theory! Aerith was always my favourite, so I was hoping that with all the whispers and weird plot twists that she could make it past the forgotten capital somehow. I’ve never seen advent children, so I appreciate you explaining the remnants. It makes sense. Keep making your theories. 😊
@joshuagray720
I didn't even think of this theory at first, but now it makes a LOT of sense when I think about it.
@jaz4742
The fact that the writers are able to take one of the most well known stories ever, and tell it 95% the same, but in a way that makes everyone know nothing/completely unsure of what comes next and become emotionally bi polar, questioning their reality, is *chefs kiss*.
@cathygrandstaff1957
“It’s too dark, it’s too angsty” - no such thing. Playing with Cloud’s feelings and turning hope into despair is what Sephiroth does.
@zeldaoot23
Aerith in Remake: “Every time the whispers touch me… I lose something. A part of myself.”
@Soyboythoughts
I wish more people made videos like this instead of nitpicking this game because of the new direction. They cant be happy that we got a nice entertaining game with a little some thing new
@aerithsflowers
And I'm really interested to see how the white materia will play out in the end. In the japanese version, Aerith didn't say "it's about saving the world" in the church scene, but she said specifically "this materia will save the world". So I really think she has a plan to up the power of holy compared to the original, where it wasn't sufficient to stop meteor. But it was white (deactived) when it fell into the lake? And yeah I know Cloud has another one and I'm dying to see how this all plays out. Can't wait for the third game 🤯
@Kean_Bean
I feel like the game does quite a bit to tell us how "Omin Aerith" functions, though not sure if it refutes this theory or not.
@jintym2951
I very much enjoyed this theory. I think it's pretty plausible.
@zeldaoot23
This is super interesting. I do think that there must be at least two Aeriths - Omni and regular, or something like that. I’ve just assumed that regular Aerith - whom we get to know in Rebirth because her connection to Omni Aerith has been severed - has multiple facets, like all people. This doesn’t explain why she contradicts herself at the end of Rebirth, but I attribute that to some kind of Cloud delusion. However, I could see it playing into some mechanic where Aerith splits herself into different “memory threads” that inhabit different worlds of the Lifestream but can to some extent communicate with each other to do what needs to be done.
@jamiegarrett6824
Very juicy theory!
