This AI Skyrim Mod is the Future of Gaming
AI is undeniably going to change gaming forever, and I think this new Skyrim mod is the first sign of that happening.

I remember hearing someone say: “AI will never reach the same caliber of art and writing as humans can. Not because they can’t feel love, fear, or anger like humans can. But because you can’t reach anywhere near the same level of degeneracy with an AI as you could a human.”
@hotjesus666
@hotjesus666 7 месяцев назад
Disagree. That ignores the fact that LLM's are trained entirely by human data (most of it sourced from the depths of the internet).. It takes tremendous amounts of tuning and hidden pre-prompting to keep it from hallucinating and promoting insanely degenerate ideas.

This is truly revolutionary for gaming indeed, once they are able to give the AI voice the ability to actually speak with emotion and tone instead of always being flat and sounding weird this will be absolutely incredible. It will get there, eventually.
@glenrisk5234

They already do. Haven't you seen the adds? They have AI that can learn vocal patterns and imitate them so perfectly you couldn't tell it wasn't the real person. Likewise they can imitate lifelike animations that reflect a real persons characteristics so accurately that they are completely convincing. There was a huge furor about it quite recently. The whole deep fake thing. Getting it on your little PC is the problem. But they could mix and match things in a way that would still massively improve the gameplay experience right now. What Art has done is make use of what he could easily access. The big players dreaming of their "metaverse" can't see past their own greed to recognize how to do it which might unfortunately be a good thing? But dev's are exploring, so it won't take long before we are seeing better in demos, indie games and the like. The tricky thing is going to be to get backing for ambitious projects without getting co-opted by the greedy monsters who would ruin it before it got off the ground.

Well, for myself to be okay with playin' ANY game like that where it's practically built on a full AI mechanics system, then two things would have to happen - 1. It would have to be implemented exactly as you mentioned in you're video, so it wouldn't hinder anythin' that currently goes into game development but only adds to and enhances the game in a positive and respectful way, 2. It would also have to be implemented into the game as optional, whether that means it's built directly into the game mechanics settings and you can just go into the game settings and turn off the AI gameplay features to play the game the classic, original way as it was originally developed, or if it's a DLC in creation club for players to download and install if they so choose to add full AI game mechanics to their game, but either way it MUST be optional NOT forced on everyone, 'cause not everyone will want to play somethin' like Skyrim that way

i'm sorry but the cat is out of the bag, at this point using AI in the future will become a staple, it will be like the motor vehicles were to the horse and buggy generation, people will eventually accept it like everything else when it comes to advancement in technology.

@srjr91402 Год назад
@52262 : where do you get "not accepting it" in your pea sized brain from statin' that it should and needs to be optional for players to play the original/classic version of the games they give the full AI mechanics system?(aside from bein' the individual who replied in the dumbest way possible, soundin' like a modern technology mark that spews more bullshit than an actual bull does throughout a week) you see, if you've been payin' attention to what folks have been doin' lately, I'd have to take the Bud Light boycott as the best example to tell you you're 100% wrong and that people don't have to "just accept it" if AI is bein' implemented into games in an inappropriate and/or uncalled for and disrespectful way

Freelancing artist here. All the way with you there. AI has a lot to offer to everyone, across the board. It'll never bridge a gap between machine and man, and it'll not overtake the role of people involved in the creative aspects of media. But it'll certainly change how we see media and how we interact with its content and output. Intellectual property is and always will be a grey zone in the discussion and a contested subject, but I'm personally excited about what's happening right now. Edit: Decided to repost this comment since I was being previously bothered by a silly techbro just because I don't think generative AI will ultimately replace the human experience.

I think AI could be used to augment what we humans can do to further expand upon what we create, art wise, writing wise, etc. Having AI replace what we do however i do not condone because you can put people out of a job, and AI do not have passion like we do.
@carlchristianlindalen9311

People loosing their jobs to advancements in technology is an unavoidable end state for ANY occupation. It's just a matter of time and moral constipation. Every day, many people around the world loose their job for one reason or another. This isn't a big deal, even when we're talking about mass layoffs, as most people can find employ elsewhere. It's only a societal crisis when an entire section of the low skill workforce becomes obsolete at the same time. We can't re-educate them all or create new jobs fast enough. Voice actors are not in this category. If all of them lost their jobs right now, we would see a high 90's percentage adaptaion rate and I'd be extremely surprised if even a single one of them ended up living on the streets. It wouldn't be fun for them, but it wouldn't burn their lives to the ground either.

Look forward to playing games where the characters have personality profiles, historic backgrounds and respond dynamically through AI. Yeh a lot of work to do yet. Confident that emotion can be be imitated appropriately. It's just a matter of weighting preferences appropriately. That's all that happens with actual emotion. There has been more than enough research on personality types to create realistic personality profiles for characters and predictive profiles for players that are accurate enough to keep the complexity from getting out of hand. Think there is still plenty of potential work for actors, writers etc. They'll just be feeding their material to the AI to train them, likely take even more work? You'd still want to follow a script, just with broader parameters, more options than would normally be feasible. Allowing the AI to choose responses. People are pretty predictable. Wouldn't be hard to make it complex enough that most people wouldn't even notice a script was being followed and even if you did notice that would still be a massive improvement over the incredibly simple options available currently. Think it most efficient to have an AI running locally but able to reference a more capable machine to keep check on things and tune the local AI. Reckon we could realistically have something pretty impressive going that way within a few years?
@noimageavailable2934

Small correction. NPC behaviour and procedural generation are not AI. AI requires being trained on data, then based on patterns in the data it generates an output within given parameters.

Most of you dont seem to understand that it's not a matter of the AI being conscious, rather it's about the average person's perception of that AI being alive. The consequences of that will be problematic.

I just hope people won´t continue to be stupid... Like; Voiceactors are there for a reason. They can be watered and stretched, but that influences the quality. As artists are already getting this treatment, in visual and music creation, people take the work... which just isn´t cool, and just make money with little effort... Like people already loose the touch to real things, art isn´t just pretty picture or funny text. It´s truly terrible sometimes how little people value the peak that humanity has...

I feel ya. A lot of people just decided to mistreat content creators over this. As awesome as this technology is, it's not an excuse to despise people whose entire life have always revolved around manifesting creativeness. AI is going to revolutionize the whole field, but we'll quickly learn the essential differences between creating something versus generating it. Artists will adapt to it, and ill intended people, well, they always existed. This won't change that at all.
@glenrisk5234
@glenrisk5234 Год назад
There would be even more work for the voice actors as there would be much more dialogue and while it can be artificially generated that is not necessarily the best way to go? But even if you did go that way the AI would still need to be trained which would take a lot of contextual dialogue to do anyway so the actors still have work. But I think it would be better to follow a script, you just want to have more options built into it with the AI interpreting the best responses. Forget about truly dynamic AI. Your not getting that on your PC any time soon and relying too heavily on external AI servers is problematic. Lag can sometimes be appropriate as in pondering but too often it wouldn't be and there is also the issue of privacy. But people are fairly predictable and so long as the people working in the games development are honest about human nature, not pandering to political machination, perverse puritanical or religious garbage, (unless appropriate contextually) games can be set up to accommodate a pretty good range of diverse personalities. I know of people capable of doing it. You just stage out the scenes of the story driving your game with a good variety of possibilities accommodated weaving them all through various paths in keeping with the personality expressed with the choice in the direction you want the story to go. Sure it's would get complicated but not really any more complicated than a good game already is in it's creation. Perhaps mirroring the overall complexity of the game in the dialogue might be a good yard stick to use?
@jaegermonster9549
@jaegermonster9549 Год назад
@@glenrisk5234 I agree! This tech should find its way into being seamlessly implemented into the toolset of professional studios, and this ultimately will not push away creative professionals such as voice actors. They will have yet another way their work will be amplified. There will be many legal and justifiably moral hurdles to commiserate before this hallmark is reached, but I think both consumers and creators will enjoy this technology as a part of everything in the future, without all the doom, gloom or even mindless spite for either human or machine.
@carlchristianlindalen9311

The ugly reality is that if technology can supplant a person at a given task, then that profession has met it's expiration date. Artificially restricting it is not only unjust, but it also prevents growth for the sake of people who could in all honesty do other work or monetize their trade in other ways. Voice actors, specifically, could sell their services as advisors or AI educators on tone, drama and inflection. They could also license out their particular voice profiles. At the end of the day we're not talking about a massive section of the workforce being obsoleted overnight here. They represent a niche in the drama arts trade, and the tool simply outweighs their conveniences by a solid margin.
