I finally got this lens.30 years later. I had the 35-105, 75-200, 400 f5.6 and a 24 f2.4 from Tamron. I thought I would never find it to complete my kit. My A-1 looks so nice with this lens, but it adapts to my RP flawlessly and gives such nice vintage results that I think I prefer it over my EF version. And I found it in a thrift store for about $15.00. This is one of my favorites!

Just recently got the Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 AI-S, and it's really similar. It's one of Nikons sharpest lenses, has a close focus of 20cm, and has almost zero distortion. On top of this, Nikon has been manufacturing it for 40 years, so you can find it for relatively cheap all over the place.

I have both, the Nikkor AI-S is better concerning bokeh, overall sharpness and contrast and especially close up sharpness, The Canon works much better in Infrared, The Nikkor has some hotspots therefore the AI versions f2.8 and f3.5 are better in that regard.

I bought this lens last week!! I managed to get mine for £30 - it is indeed a fantastic lens, and you don't need to restrict yourself to the S.C. FD model, the S.S.C. FD and the NFD/FDn (unmarked for coating) deliver largely the same results. The coating was only advertised in the beginning as specially coated lenses were very hyped up in the 50's, 60's and early 70's

Had this lens twice now and still have my latest copy. Fantastic lens at it's price and even works well on an APS-C sensor. Defo need to get an old Sony A7 though because reasons...

Most people don't care about Canon FD lenses because of the slow and complicated mounting system for mirrorless camera adapters. The main reason why their demand and prices are low for so long. It's actually pretty easy once you get used to the FD mount. People in internet forums constantly complain about the Canon FD system but it doesn't deserve the hate.

In Nov 2023 I got the FD 28mm f2.0 S.S.C. and as a person who only bought EF L lens, I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid for it. But it was a compromise to keep me from buying the 24mm and 35mm SSCs. And I absolutely love it on my Fuji with a speedbooster.

I care. This was my first vintage lens before I knew anything about vintage lenses (like that fact it wouldn't work well on a modern-ish canon). It was one of the first lenses I used on my Sony A7RII. It is a wonderful 28mm lens, and remains my go-to 28mm wide to this day.

nice travel video! I mostly use tele lens :) my fav is a 70-200mm f3.5 ATM on samsung NX, afraid to go too close LOL, but I have some lens like it...but if I go to wider I use the Helios 58mm f2 ;)

Je dois à cet objectif exceptionnel monté sur des boîtiers FTb QL, AE-1 et A1 mes plus belles Kodachrome 64. Couleurs, contraste, piqué, tout y était parfait (surtout à partir de f/5.6) 😍

I have pretty much the same lens. Same focal length and aperture. Just it’s an aftermarket sigma lens. And I use it on four thirds sensor so it’s a longer focal length and not as bright. But good fun lens. Maybe I’ll upgrade to this and a full frame camera sometime

Lovely hiking trail there - where is it? How does the FD28mm SC compare to modern lens like the Sony FE28mm f2? I can get a copy in Thailand for EUD40 equivalent. It would be nice compliment my legacy FD50mm f1.8 from my hand-me-down Canon AE-1 from my dad which became my first SLR and what I learned photography with.

We must say that 28 mm nowadays is an often neglected focal, while in the past it was very well common. Canon used to make very good lenses, i gave a 28 mm like this to a former girlfriend who used to own a Canon FD twenty years ago.

I do have the lens and a cheaper EMount canon adapter but not 100% satisfied with the results… I would be very interested in what adapter was used in this case! I like the videos a lot!

I prefer the FDn 24mm 2.8, the FDn 28mm 2.0 are much better the the FD 2.8. Remember that the FDn Lenses have newer and better Lens coatings than the older FD Lenses ! The FDn Lenses have often newer and better Lens designs than the older FD Lenses !!!
