The way they were sitting , the window, the angle from which we see them, the question of „will everything/everyone be alright?“ reminded me so much of a few scenes in the Pandora hearts manga with Alice & Oz , I love these calm scenes that give us more about the feelings of the characters

It was even more impactful in the WN. Quite a lot of day to day traveling in which Eris only showed herself to be excited about living the adventurer life was cut out of the anime.

Spoilers It really is crazy that Rudy just ran across Rujid randomly when you consider who he is. I mean he killed the Demon God. That is like randomly encountering Lacelot in a church.

As a WN reader, Idk what to say about the show. I'm truly in love with this Novel, I have finished 4/5 parts of it, follow it from WN to LN, and now anime (this is also my very first anime too). But recently, the 3 last ep are kind of disappointed me a little bit. They all cut the important part. I cant feel the empathy that I feel in WN or Manga anymore. Maybe I'm a greedy jerk that expects so much, or they will add it later, or it's just how anime works, idk. But the feeling of the community hates Rudy when they cannot understand him more just make me so sad. However, I'm not gonna just drop it here, I'll follow my fellow Rudy wherever he goes and hopefully, other ep will be better in delivering inner thought of the characters. Peace

@@fapmaster2734 yeah, I agree with you about lacking the inner thoughts of the characters. I'm also 4/5 of the way through with the light novel and they are definitely missing out on some parts with this episode. It didn't explain the rules of being an adventurer, along with the inner thoughts of Eris and Rudeus. After Eris asked Rudeus about if they would ever get home, Rudeus understood that she was feeling stressed about the journey. She tries to put up a brave face in front of him, but she still worries. That sense of frustration and worry being bottled up for so long is the reason why Eris lashed out the way that she did. The way that it was shown just makes it look like she is being violent for no good reason, but the light novel makes you understand her thought process. Also the way that they are adapting the novel takes away from all of the Eris and Rudeus moments. For example when Eris went to sleep on Rudeus' lap, the anime made it seem like Rudeus was just a pervert. But in the light novel eris was getting sleepy, Rudeus told her that he could use the pelt as a blanket. Then when she asked about not having a pillow, he offered his lap as a pillow, to which she agreed. Then he stroked her hair as she fell asleep. Them skipping that part and just having Rudy look at Eris in a perverted manner takes away from his character. Also during the Eris and Rudeus moment in this episode, Rudeus was supposed to put his hand on her shoulder and gently embrace her before he said "we will be able to return." That's a great moment for Rudeus because he was able to embrace her without doing anything perverted, which shows development in his character. If this anime could be like Re:Zero and get 29 minutes per episode so that they could include the thought process behind the characters, it would be a lot better. Aside from that, the anime is doing a very good job adapting this series, especially with the animation.

People say that the manga adaption isn't the greatest but I think it still encapsulates some of the moods better, like that bed scene depression. But I'm trying the WN now too

Rudeus can see all the countless shades of grey between black and white. It is prety nuts that someone who is like 40 years old (including his past life) is more of an adult than one who is over 400

@@areh3918 Don't do that. English VAs are good too if they put their soul into it. And in some cases, they are exactly on point with the character. I love Gojo's English voice in Jujutsu Kaisen because I feel it captures that casual badass vibe that he emits when doing his thing. Even in serious situations, he stills sounds somewhat childlike in his approach and can shift instantly to be more threatening if need be. This is just an example, but I hope you see my point. Though, I can't blame you for hating dub because we've been spoiled with the greatness that is this anime's sub.

It is more that "demon" here is used as a label for any of the races that aren't accepted as one of the main races such as the elves, dwarves, beastkin, or humans.

Some of demons in other anime are CGI lol

However, due to the immigration in the distant past, beastmen settled on the Demon continent. Over time, it became generally accepted to refer to anyone born on the Demon continent as a demon.

​@@lillylime2026 It's not about simply thinking that, but the emotional reaction and consistency about it in a realistic world. Usually, it is that whole character trait of being 'the hero type' or other hyperbolic, ridiculous bullshit that has nothing to do with reality of our world. With Rudy we see, how a person who actually feels deeply about modern world morals would feel and act in a world where those don't exist. It is unique, one, because he is a regular person, and two, because of it being realistically executed. Most regular people wouldn't really be like that in those circumstances. They would know that 'murder is wrong' in the back of their heads, but be a lot more conformist about the implementation of that rule. Like, the natural reaction would be a kind of mix of satisfaction that a person who harmed you was punished, a feeling of distaste at the unreasonable excessiveness of that punishment, and a few other emotions, depending on a person, but not a firm, unitary and open condemnation of the act in it's entirety.

His modern morals are also referenced in the flashbacks. His "photos" were taken because he got mad at a guy cutting in line, who turned out to be a delinquent boss or something. He also died while saving three highschool kids because he thought that at least they still had lives to look forward to. They can live good lives. TL;DR. He is still good at heart even with his personality flaws.

It is mentioned that he used to have that sense of justice will preveil, and one factor that contribute to him being bullied in the previous world is when he tried to be the hero, the moral paragon, and it backfired, hard.

@@lillylime2026 the thing that he is trying to say is that in this anime they actually show the mental effect of killing on a modern character and a medieval person. In most anime like isekai cheat magician or sao (they do show the mental effect of dying but not killing, or the ptsd linked to seeing someone's in-game character die ) they don't show the effect of ending another beings life, be it humanoid or monster. Even overlord glosses over it by saying that ainz is a lich, of course ge wouldn't feel anything killing people.

No, many of the isekai novels are trash. Many of them just flaunt how OP their MCs are. Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero are praised to be good not because they are isekai or how OP the MC are, but because the story, drama, and the worldbuilding are extraordinary. It should have just been masterpieces who should have get good treatment. Letting out too many trashy isekai to be animated would only make 'garbage in garbage out'.

not only it got an anime, but they actually made it a reeeeeeeeeealy good adaptation, one of those you see like 5 a decade.

Both stories are great and even though there is similar themes both are vastly different

Light novels are usually better since they have to focus on immersion. Animation gives us the opportunity to see movement and a character's changing reactions to circumstances along with voice acting to give that character depth, and also with accompanying music for the modd. LNs don't have this and need to basically spoon-feed you everything that's happening around you at the current point in time to keep you engaged.

And they'll need to make a second one next cour. The beast god language. The one he was learning with Ghyslaine. Because they're going to cross into the milis continent and encounter beastfolk who obviously talk in beast god language. And then they'll need to make a third and final language, the fighting god language, in the future. Most likely season 3.

Just being able to see the cities and all its residents in all its glory was worth losing the inner thoughts of the characters IMO. It will never live up to the WN/LN but it’s nice having a visual reference for this world. Seeing all the different types of demons fully animated was mind blowing.

I didn't really expect that level of detail for the city and its inhabitants, it was absolutely mind blowing and having a visual reference (like you said) for the world we got to love through the novels (web or light, it doesn't matter) it's fantastic and worth losing the inner thoughts (the most parts of them at least)

I did notice the animation when they were walking down a staircase was *very* rough and jagged. That must be why.

Yeah, I realized that a while ago, and ln says that she tries to snap but it comes out flat, and the anime actually uses a flat snap sound effect.
