Yeah, people did question Shiro's existence in the show. And I wonder why Ganta cried so much. Maybe it's because all his friends were suddenly, brutally massacred in the most horrific way right infront of his eyes which was then blamed on him and absolutely no one was supporting him. Or maybe it's because he was sent on death row but was then forced to fight for his life by utilizing some unknown power he suddenly obtained. Or it could be that he's constantly getting his butt whooped because he's being forced into situations that he has absolutely no control over and the people around him keep dying or betraying him. Those could be why but nah, he's a 12 year old kid who never had a hard life so he should just man up and suck all that in because that's what any 12 year old kid would do in his predicament right?! I swear, some people like to cling to their own ideologies of what constitutes a good anime. That's fine and all but only when you judge the anime for itself and not compare it to other animes.
*14-year old And realistically, his "whining" isn't really a problem in the manga, bc we're constantly hearing his thoughts about the situation around him, whereas in the anime, he just comes off as what someone assumes Shinji Ikari is like.
at the beginning of every video, he literally says he's giving us a satire synopsis. Practically meaning, almost everything he has to say is for shits and giggles. But watevs, I wasn't trying to start anything, you're entitled to your opinion.
i’m ngl this is one of those tokyo ghoul situations where they butchered the story so bad that a s2 wouldn’t even be able to save it read the manga it’s beautiful
Deadman Wonderland is a tragic tale of a show that got greenlit when a studio was running out of funds. They couldn't greenlight it for anything more then 12 episodes even if it really needed double if not more then that to cover the content it was trying to cover. A lot of instances of "New character gets introduced now care about them and act like it makes sense that they're suddenly the main characters best friend". I actually just 2 days ago binged watched the series with my friend who hadn't seen it before and it was basically how I remembered it. Super rushed, great premise with some interesting things going for it, and near the top of my list for shows that need a reboot. Also it has by far my favorite female archetypes and look. White hair, red eyes, borderline bat shit crazy.
"...a tragic tale of a show that got greenlit when a studio was running out of funds. They couldn't greenlight it for anything more then 12 episodes..." I'm really tired of this excuse. Just admit that the anime was two packs of ass in a can.
@@FutureRevolut10nary Didn't say anything wrong. The show was being created when the studio was going bankrupt so it couldn't get greenlit for anything past 12 episodes. Some manga adaptations need more then 12 to get even an ark fully adapted, it happens. This leads to things like rushed characters, story beats, etc which lowers the quality of the show. Where in my comment did I say it was better then it actually was? Personally I enjoyed it and there is some genuine good in it but I can enjoy just about anything I watch.
Frankly the "power system" was pretty cool. Using blood for powers is the awesome kind of edgy, and it also means that using their powers too often would result in blood loss. You don't see many anime where there are consequences to using one's powers, aside from becoming tired in convenient times.
@@legendpapito7545what the fuck are you talking about? The mangas ending was satisfying as fuck and almost everyone got the closure the needed with their characters and fleshed out. Shiro and Ganta’s relationship was so fucking wholesome and built nicely throughout it. There was no mid ending
@@meguminsimp1065 ehh Idk, there was a huge problem with her split personalities, she killed thousands, she needed to be stopped, then suddenly she survives and has no evil in her anymore. Kinda a cop-out. I also did not love the twist of her being the egg, its just meh. The story shined the most with the blood users and their struggles in the plot. Pretty cool side characters, mainly Crow. But the story is a 5-6/10 to me. Not horrible, but not good.
I mean the show is probably better than 90% of the other shows on the air. I will admit that there are some holes in the story, but so does a lot of other anime.
Just finished the Manga after waiting 10+ years hoping that a season2 would drop but … long story short I liked it in fact I enjoyed it . The Anime could have easily been 4 or 3 season’s
Poor man was so traumatized that he wished for amnesia not knowing that it would keep him in a downward spiral of : 1)Watching Deadman Wonderland 2)Be traumatized 3)Mind wipe ... 4)Watching Deadman Wonderland Reminds me of Amnesia Dark Descent where the bad guy extracted suffering (or somethingà from his prisoners by torturing them until a certain point then made them forget all they suffered so he could start afresh without having to get new ones too often
Huh... So the mind ,Kataoka, Jinsei, behind Deadman wonderland also wrote a Manga based on the anime Eureka seven and I've never heard anything about her other works like Smokin Parade. Deadman wonderland had a cool foundation but jumped way to quickly from arc to arc. But for seemingly their first original big work it wasn't bad just needed to chill on the pace.
I feel like Manglobe read the first few chapters, thought, "Wow, this is a sadist show! We'll take it!" And threw their arms up when the prison break subplot came up, and just did whatever at that point.
This need a complete reboot, FMA brotherhood style. They butchered most of the subcast developement, didn't explain one single thing about the main cast and left out 3/4 of the manga plotines. The final bout between Ganta and Shiro was one of the most heartbreaking and sad fights I have ever read and they basically cut their legs as far as EP2 in the anime, writing themselves in a dead end. Plus, the studio basically had no money to complete even one arc. Btw, Smokin' Parade, the lastest manga of the DW authors is another incredible story about human madness, greed and good intention warped into a catastrophe.
The problem is studio Manglobe, the manga is good really good! But manglobe cut out so many plots and characters that even if another studio would pick up this anime it cannot be saved unless it’s rebooted completely
This Review Spot on asides the Clip where you said you thought subaru breakdown is annoying, I dont think someone that got transfered to a new World and experiences death(including the pain) over and over again can have too much breakdown.. its crazy he aint a vegetable
I kid you not! The only thing I ever remembered about this anime was that there was the white and red girl in it, and only because the op song is in my playlist somehow.
I actually tried watching this just yesterday. I got 3 episodes in. I couldn't believe that a literal hole in blown in the side of the building. And no one stops and questions how a 12 year old did this. The cops look at the crime scene and the absolute state of the victims. And somehow thought the MC did it.
The manga was way better, the anime is too short for anything to make sense plotwise. The anime did have great animation and good voice acting tho. It was cool seeing the characters in motion.
He makes it sound like none his gripes were explained or even addressed. Then I realized since most people around my age, never really experienced hardship on a consistent level, cause the moment pain is inflicted, its either run or fleeting and you're protected, why so many disconnect from series like this
I remember first watching this when I was 12, and I gotta be honest I don't remember it being this bad lol. Maybe I was too young & ignorant to know garbage when I saw it, but I recall really liking the anime
This my favorite Read the books you'll end up loving her. It's just shows how much you know only bt watching one season of the TV show. They couldn't make more seasons bc what happens to Shiro is to much to put on screen. I HIGHLY suggest for ppl to read this story it's fantastic
Needed more episodes and a second season, it’s unfortunate that it had to be rushed and didn’t get to be as good as it could have been. At least the opening kicks ass though, like seriously normalize English 2000s rock/metal anime openings, they’re always immaculate
Bro did you watch the anime? He figures out the wretched egg is in cell block G from the inmate who is talking after the main character wakes up in the hospital. Please do better next time .
I actually really like the show and read the manga after cause I liked it so much. Really my only complaint with the anime is it's clear they were rushing things along due to their time and budget limits. I still show people the anime first to get then to read the manga. Also yeah man a 12 year old in a prison death match is gonna cry. Why is this being played up like a huge negative trait? Sorry our protag isn't a Johnny Sue that can just solve all the problems by being there. Really just a trash take all around
weird to hear someone do the "everything about this meal was horrible, tasted like shit, AND the servings were to small" bit in a review, but enough of what you said was accurate enough I took away the thumbs down 🙂 I really liked this one, it is weird, insane, and shifts gears so much you can't really predict what will happen much (other than the power of hope n friendship thing, that was a bit obvious but sometimes they just threw it out).
Unnecessary Censorship on the Gore (EVEN in the "Uncensored" Blu-Ray version), Missing Characters that are VERY Important to the Story, and missing for Skipped Content from the Original Manga.. Deadman Wonderland was done SO dirty when it comes to an Anime, it's no wonder it was hated so heavily. So just read the manga.
I love this anime, but yes its very bad. Lol even though I love this I really don't get the story very well ill probably get the manga even though people said the ending was mid I love this video by the way.
Damn you I didn’t think about the secret G Passage. But yeah Crow is my favourite character in this trash ass show Only shit, now listening to this recap this story sounds like a god damn fever dream on crack!
I actually loved this Series, especially with theme and tone... but of course my millenial youngers were not as cultured, hence why they hate it so much, they make videos on the matter.
I enjoy the anime but it didn't do justice to the manga at all. The manga is great and is one of the few that hasn't messed up with the ending. Needs a reboot.
I remember, the first time I watched this, comparing so much Ganta with Akira, the only difference was the lack of steroids, (0:20😂) and I thought Shiro was a long lost daughter of Irisviel Von Einzbern (Fate)😅. Jokes aside, I think it’s kind of “enjoyable” and deep anime, if you like the genre.
If they can kill prisoners and manipulate everything then why just them kidnapped men mc kill his friends and then doing court is stupidity and not making any scene
The story and characters are mildly intriguing, I just feel like this whole show rushed. I feel like nothing got resolved. Think this is a case of good story, bad adaptation. Definitely think I'll check out the manga instead!
I like the anime it has good parts and it got me to read the manga. But even if the company that made the anime didn't go out or business they fucked it up any way so season 2 and beyond wouldn't really be possible
I was Reading the manga when I was like 15 and it was great. Well most of the manga I red at that time was. Was searching if they made continuation or remake of the anime. Well you answered why they didnt do another season at least lol
