Adam West getting to be Superfriends/Super Powers Batman did my heart even more good. West + Casey Kasem was an underrated/underutilized combo.

Bat Mite was a product of the times. A lot of toons were bringing in cute characters to lure younger viewers. The Flinatones had The Great Gazoo and then the Shmoo, Scoob and the gang got Scrappy Doo. There may be more, but these are the ones I remember.

Seeing this makes me wish they used The Scarecrow on the Adam West Batman show.

That hyena just looks so happy to be there. Who knew Joker was actually good with animals.

What's unique about this show in contrast to other previous shows prior to Batman TAS is the showcase of The Batman's athleticism, even in the end credits!

I personally was a bigger fan of the 60’s Filmation, then this update…took me until the Batman : Brave & The Bold animated series to gain any appreciation for Bat-Mite …in all actuality what teenage me found the coolest about this series was the closing sequence of every episode , with Batman doing a rooftop run through Gotham before jumping into the Batmobile…Keep Up The Great Work 🖖🏾

Hello Vee!! Thank you for this video. I was afraid that I was alone in the world as being a fan of this series. I am outspoken when I say Let the record show that I am a fan of the New Adventures of Batman. I am one of the few if not THE biggest fan of this version of Batman. I am currently 52 years old and I still remember watching this toon for the first time when I was 5 years old. It was my first exposure or introduction to the Batman characters, And it led me to the 1966 Batman TV series reruns, the comics, the toys and merchandise and the SuperFriends, all in the year of 1977, It's why I love the voices of Adam West and Burt Ward as the Caped Crusaders, even more than their live action performances. It was because of the New Adventures of Batman that motivated me into wanting and my parents buying me memorable toys like the Duncan Batmobile, the AHI Batman Parachutist figurine. (I wanted a Robin Parachutist figurine, but never found him until my adult years). And most of all the Mego action figures of Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Joker, Penguin and Riddler (never had Catwoman). I loved watching the New Adventures of Batman alongside Tarzan Lord of the Jungle and as part of Tarzan and the Super 7. Although I didn't care much for BatMite, I did love how annoyed Batman and Robin were when BatMite did come around. But if it hadn't been for this version of Batman, I wouldn't be the fanboy that I am today. Sadly though, this cartoon series generates a lot of hate (mainly because of the injection of BatMite in this series), which is ashamed, because the animation was good at that time. But again, I want to thank you for giving a positive review of the New Adventures of Batman,. I obsessively searched for this series during the days of VHS tapes. I bought the DVD set the moment it got released back in 2007 and I have already pre ordered the BluRay set and ready to watch it when it arrives. While I consider Batman The Animated Series to be the absolute best animated version of Batman there ever was, The New Adventures of Batman is my personal favorite animated version of Batman because it's where I got my start. I've had this disc for 15 years now but I never watch it anymore because I remember every episode from my childhood in the 70s👌🏽

Thank you, Vee! I was a huge Batman fan as a child during the 1970s, so you know I eagerly watched this show every Saturday morning! I loved the soundtrack and the wacky stories, but one limitation of this era and time/day slot I always disliked was the fact that Batman and Robin were never allowed to hit or kick anyone, with their impressive physical prowess limited entirely to feats of gymnastics or tossing batarangs etc; and the villains could never use any method or weapon that was remotely physically injurious on a target (it was always non-lethal effects like shrinking, mind control, sleep gas, paralysis beams, etc). It is high in nostalgia factor but low on delivering a loving homage to the wackiness of the Silver Age truly loyal to what we got in the comics of that era to the degree that "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" was. Speaking of which, you know you have my vote for a video covering that awesome series :-)

Bat Mite was used more like Great Gazoo from Flintstones. Right down to changing his skin from peach to green. Also, "Brice Rogers" is similar to Buck Rogers in name. So, that is likely the name is changed. As for Riddler, the opening was made before Riddler was given to HB. So, Riddler's costume was changed. The idea of "confusion" is not why villains were not used. It was exclusive rights. The show was made to protect what rights they had or according to how it could be different from HB. Robin gets a logo change and Batman's gray is more baby blue and a throwback symbol. Alfred appeared in Challenge of the Superfriends. Likely, HB had the rights to Alfred. As for Barbara, her legal career may have been based on that of Huntress, who was a lawyer in the original Earth 2 reality.

Picked this up on DVD a couple of months ago.

If the JLU/The Batman issue is anything to go by, I'm guessing Hanna-Barbera and Filmation could both use Batman himself, but the other characters were distributed between the two shows.

Filmation has a history of having an animal sidekick, so BatMite and Joker's cheetah make sense...

I had a sampler set with two episodes of this show. I agree that it was a little weird and hilarious how mean they were towards Bat-mite. Also totally feel you about the later animated movies. A problem with modern media attempting to invoke a past one or do a retro throwback or whatever... it never feels genuine and instead feels like a sort of gag. It doesn't help that modern productions often play up the more memed parts and forget that they worked because there was a core of sincerity to the whole thing. I remember even disliking that one part of the episode "Legends of the Dark Knight" for that reason.

As for why it didn't continue, it's all about how Saturday morning syndication worked. Long story short, "another season" was half the money of "a new series," even if the new series is really just "more of that least series." That said, a) I'd love to revisit Brave & Bold, it was great, and b) I have the dubious honor of having put the exactly 1,000th like on this video.

I finished season 1 favorite episodes so far is (Mayhem of music meister) Love the music in it I hope you talk about music Meister if you do talk about Batman brave and the bold. Also love the voice actor for Batman

The kicker is that Bat-Mite could be darn near omnipotent when the plot called for it. That's the thing with trickster characters: they're mildly annoying when they're on your side, but can turn terrifying if they decide to get serious.

I still say one Adam West project that would be interesting to include is Legends of the Super Heroes. He and Burt Ward return as their famous characters, along with many other DC superheroes, in a couple special episodes that aren't the most amazing, but undeniably interesting to know about.

Thought you was Batman (good clip use). I still can't believe they brought Sweet Tooth back as the big bad of that unofficial Batman musical. Incredible. Edit: I still can't hear Tara Strong's Harley voice without hearing Twilight Sparkle. It just makes me giggle.

This was the series that first introduced me to Batman and Robin

I enjoy that montage of Batman and Robin being dicks to Bat-Mite probably more than I should; you rarely see that kind of comic relief character treated with that much contempt by the main characters. Regarding some of the strange color choices, it's possible Filmation still had on-hand the guy who did the colors for their Star Trek cartoon; apparently he was colorblind, and that's what gave that show some of its more infamous visuals, like the pink Tribbles and Klingons in purple armor.

The New Adventures of Batman was a very odd show I use to watch, but it was definitely a step up from The Batman/Superman Hour. It definitely helped that they got West and Ward back to do the voices. And Bite-Mite I could take or leave.

The green Catwoman suit was more in line with her original appearance. So hate it or like it, it was more significant overall that the show-exclusive 'lioness' suit.

I think this Show bombed cause it’s format is one full episode per show unlike the previous one that had a two parter followed by a full episode.

The first Batman Animated series during The Batman/Superman Hour was Better than the 70's version.

I have a signed copy of the Chameleon storyboard by the late Lou Scheimer.

This cartoon was on Tubi about a year or two ago. It was just unwatchable, especially compared to the modern Batman animations. However, for nostalgic purposes its pretty cool. Its also nice to see Batgirl in her Yvonne Craig like form (rather than the little girl in the Batman series of the 90s)

What no one has mentioned is despite the lack of fisticuffs, there's still a great deal of action, beautifully improved artwork, clever plots and my favorite, the somewhat orchestral MUSIC!

I don't think these episodes were ever broadcast where I grew up, though I definitely had some on video tape. 📼 Were these two Bat series the only ones Filmation produced, or were there more? I'd like to track them down...

I liked the 1968 series more. This one had three things against it... 1) Burt Ward's extremely wooden performance. He was a LOT better on the reunion D2V Batman '66 animated movies. 2) Pacifistic 1970s SatAM rules. This hurt the Superfriends too and is why Aquaman is seen as useless (cause he could not use brute force besides his aquatic powers). And actually, Batman and Robin looked WORSE because of this...as no fighting = they become total wusses who need their utility belts. 3) BAT-MITE. FREAKING BAT-MITE. WORSE THAN ORKO, SNARF, AND WHEELIE COMBINED BAT-MITE. CAN THANK HIS LUCKY STARS THAT VIOLENCE WASN'T ALLOWED IN 1977 CAUSE SOMEONE WOULD HOPEFULLY TEAR HIS HEAD OFF BAT-MITE.

The commentator stated that Alfred didn't appear in the SuperFriends, when in fact he did. Alfred was in episode 1 of Challenge of the SuperFriends, "Wanted: The SuperFriends".

There is a Scarecrow in both DC and Marvel, they did merge into Scarecrow during the Amalgam event. Would do a vid on Zur-en-arrh Batman? As since a recent Batman event, even the Adam West Batman (and he isn't the only Batman version) have that personality now, well that personality escaped and is in main universe now.

Out of all the mistakes in the show i enjoyed the show very much as a kid, and this and that does not change my mind in anyway,

Though I loved the NAOB when I was a kid, it makes me laugh to realize that it was the only Batman series that (due to it's target audience of young children) contained no actual fighting! From the first episode to the last, not a single punch is thrown!

I enjoyed this on Saturday mornings when it first ran. I remember much of what you described here. Particularly 2 appearances of Clayface and the Clayface rip-off Chameleon, the robot ?0_o??. And yes, Bat Mite was infinitely irritating

Ohmygod I hate this show. There were a couple good elements, notably Adam West and Burt Ward, and some improved animation, but overall the new characters are awful, Batgirl getting sidelined, and Bat-Mite is obnoxious.

60s batman was pretty bad, but the 70s one with bat mite was boring as hell.

In my opinion, this show sucks. Even if I was nine years old, I wouldn’t watch this thing. The 60s show was more entertaining than this thing. Bat Mite Isn’t and wasn’t funny, he is just an embarrassment. Yes, I grew up in the 70s. I didn’t watch it then and I can’t believe anybody would want to watch this for nostalgia reasons. Give me Wacky Races over this mess.
