Hi Flo, I use my air fryer with a tiny bit of oil to fry all of my tofu. Then I toss it into whatever sauce the family likes that day. It's simplified my life so much.

100% agree. I made this dish when my tofu hating friend came to dinner, and he wrinkled his nose and said he'd pass on that dish, thanks. Then his kid decided to try it, and they couldn't stop eating it. My friend, seeing this, decides maybe he's going to take a little bite and see about it. "OH! It tastes like Yorkshire pudding, but with garlic soy sauce gravy!" Make it for your friends who think they hate tofu. I converted at least one skeptic.
Flo, Love your cooking! In regard to the your oil container, check and see if there is “relief” hole in the stopper that might have plugged. I have a 750ml oil container and found out that if I (accidentally) cover the relief hole the oil stopped pouring.
Thanks for sharing ur recipe! Tried to fry my tofu with an air fryer & it was as soft & crunchy as fried with oil. My friend said he even coated his tofu with a little starch with an air fryer & it made it even crunchier. This air fryer is a game changer! Less oil, no smell, more goodness & more convenience 🙌🏻

It always makes my day when I see ginger in your recipe I know it’s coming, it’s another trademark of yours, please produce a shirt about it and I will purchase it, something like (Flo thumb size ginger 👍🏼 on the front) and (Dudes thumb size ginger 👎🏼on the back) or both on the front or something cleaver, I know you want to😉 Just throwing some ideas there! Flo, thanks for excellent recipe. To reduce intake of oil , I air fried the tofu instead and it came out really good. Air fry for 5 mins each side. I would love to see some air fry recipes from you! Thanks for all your great recipes, and to Dude too
LOL! Tofu should only be used in Asian cooking... in my opinion. Tofu used as a meat substitute to taste like meat has never made sense to me. Like tofu burgers... ick.

Never had this with tofu but IMO anything with this black bean sauce or similar is extremely dank.....chicken, pork, beef, along with some green pepper.....probably roadkill possum would be good like this.
I have all the ingredients except I have not been able to find fermented black beans locally. But I do have black bean garlic sauce. I have never tasted fermented black bean. Do you think black bean garlic sauce could be a good substitute for black beans in the recipe?
I think your black bean garlic sauce may be essentially what I made from all the other ingredients. Since you have that, use it along with the onion, tofu and green onion and you’ll be good!

Hi Flo and Dude, your Black Bean Tofu looks so delicious. I'll definitely be trying to make this dish soon. I noticed that you used the same purple (pasta?) bowl, here, as you did for your Instant Pot Black Bean Chicken dish. Could you please tell me the dimensions of that bowl? This looks really good! Not a big fan of tofu, so do you think this would work with chicken or maybe beef? Should I double the sauce? I still have a lot of black beans left over from making your black bean spare rib dish (wonderful) so would like to use them again for something else.
I enjoy your channel Flo and Dude. Do you have to rinse the black bean? I am afraid that the flavor would be affected. Can I substitute with those ready fried tofu to skip a few steps 😉?
