Best $5 I've ever spent on Drive Thru. D30s are used along with d3, d5, d7, d16, d24 for Dungeon Crawl Classics. It's unusual, but I have a player who really loves to play out hunting scenes. 😂

Excellent recommendation. A d30 is a d3 combined with a d10. No need for custom dice. Combine a d6 roll (1-2 is 00, 3-4 is 10, 5-6 is 20) with a d10 for the sum on a 30 point table. This is a fascinating document, dipping into ideas covered by dozens of older publications in an aggregated product.

D30 and many other strange dice (Zocchi Dice) are used with Dungeon Crawl Classics, which is a fantastic TTRPG by Goodman Games. It's why I own a D30 :)

Survival is really a key concept. Lots of supplements out there for various systems, and a widely varying amount of value from them comparatively. The bipolarity of gamers on survival and exploration is pretty strong... storygamers don't seem to really care about mechanics representing the setting (or game mechanics that are outside of bloated character sheets sometimes), while oldschool DMs already know what they've been doing for hexcrawls for more than twenty years. I want to try Forbidden Lands by Freeleague.

Thank you for featuring this booklet. I've had it for a couple years, but this video was a good intro in how to use it. I think I needed a small push, and I'm going to revisit it. I think everyone should have the DCC dice. They've brought back the wonder of the math rocks for me.

Finally a use for DCC d30!

Please keep these resource videos coming Loki. It’s great to see content from other creative stables rather than just the usual suspects! DMs and players need to be made aware that there’s other systems and ideas out there. And not be beholden to the “official” line of books so to speak. Creativity is a broad church. And in D&D/OSR the playable worlds and characters are only as big and expansive as the creative minds behind them. Having systems to match certainly helps to push gameplay and enjoyability to another level!

The Hexcrawl stuff in the book is really useful and rivals any that I've come across for randomly generating Hexes.

For those of us that use a 30 mile hex, the smaller ones are 5 miles. I love hex within hex worksheets.

Yup, this is a great one. This, Tomb of Annihilation, and The Perilous Wilds (plus Worlds Without Number) have made my sandbox so much easier to prep. I literally bought a number of 30 sided dice just for this book 😂

Have had this Companion for awhile, but still haven't printed it off for more practical use. Great resource, just haven't utilized it yet. Fortunately I'm stocked up on dice for DCC, including the d30, so weird dice hasn't been an issue.

Are you planning on making this into a series where you review alternative TTRPG literature and workbooks? It could prove popular and a great resource to those not already in the know. Your content is a cut above some of the larger YT channels out there as it’s more in-depth. You’ve a clear delivery which is especially good for those who’ve recently started out in TTRPGs and are perhaps unsure of which system or style they’d like to play. The choices can be bewildering to the novice. This video has expertly highlighted the possibilities of an older system. Can’t wait to see more.

I use my d30 all the time. You can use it as a more fun d2 or d3, d5 is easy too. You can roll it fit the lunar phase, the day of the month, or custom random tables. Or funky damage from traps or constructs.

I will check it out. Stuff like this are so good and being a solo player the more options at hand the better. Will look it up and using it when doing ny own campaigns later on. I really want to get stuff yo help with hexcrawling

You can simulate a d30 by rolling 2d12+1d8-2.

ChatGPT is the ultimate tool for any GM. You can tell it to create any type of encounter, for specific level of players, taking place in a setting you want etc etc. OR it can do it all by itself (which is kinda lame, since you don't put your own flavor in it).

4d8 - 1d4 is pretty close to a d30. Average is bang on, extremes can result in numbers that don't work. Just do a re-roll if you get less than 1 or above 30. XD

You don’t have to buy a d30 Just use a d6 and d10 D6 1-2 equals 1-10 3-4 equals 11-20 etc D10 gives you the numeral within d6= 5 d10=5 result 25

Tables and everything look nice, BUT it is not properly set up for printing; the pages with the tables are turned 90 degrees, and they can't be rotated, making them... much less than ideal for printing as a booklet.
