Welcome to our step-by-step tutorial on building a solar-powered water bottle that sterilizes water using ultraviolet (UV) light rays! This innovative project is designed to provide a practical and sustainable solution for clean drinking water, reducing the need for plastic water bottles and addressing health concerns related to microplastics. 🌍💧
In this video, Riddhi Gupta and Aarav Garg, students at Purdue University, will guide you through the entire process of creating this UV sterilization bottle. Our easy-to-follow instructions ensure that you can replicate this project at home with minimal hassle.

Why This Project?
Health Impact: Every day, 1.3 billion plastic water bottles are used worldwide, many made from low-quality plastics that pose significant health risks. Microplastics, tiny plastic particles found in drinking water, can cause various health issues. Our UV sterilization bottle helps mitigate these risks.
Sustainability: By harnessing solar energy, this bottle is renewable and self-sufficient, making it an eco-friendly alternative to disposable plastic bottles.
Accessibility: Our solution is designed to be practical and easily implementable, allowing anyone to benefit from cleaner, safer drinking water.
Project Highlights:
Components: Learn about the key components, including a 6V 80mA solar panel and UV LEDs.
Assembly: Follow our detailed assembly instructions, from soldering connections to ensuring proper UV sterilization.
Benefits: Understand the environmental and health benefits of using a solar-powered UV sterilization bottle.
Join Us in Creating a Greener Future!
By participating in this project, you're taking a step towards reducing plastic waste and improving global health. Let's make a positive impact together!

Hello, are these two LEDs enough to sterilise the water and therefore kill all bacteria and viruses? What is the wavelength of these UV LEDs, given that there are different wavelengths (from 395 to 405 nm if I'm not mistaken) which one is necessary for sterilisation, are all these wavelengths equally effective for this type of use?
