Borussia Mönchengladbach played Liverpool in the 1977 European Cup Final in Rome - They lost the match 3-1 but off the back of what would become the Champions League, they developed a friendship... Ooo FRIEND 👍🏽 (Inbetweeners pun there of course...) 🤓 In this video we do a Borussia Park Stadium Tour - taking a look at both the outside and inside of this fantastic Bundesliga stadium 🏟️ Prior to this we did a bit of a tour of Borussia's OLD STADIUM - the Bökelbergstadion just a few miles away... There's lots to read and see about that ground as well as Mönchengladbach's history in their BORUSSEUM - the museum at Borussia Park. It's the 2nd biggest German club football museum after the Bayern Munich one. Very good video. A little addition to the friendship with Liverpool part. After the Hillsborough catastrophe Gladbach Fans collected money and donated it to Liverpool which lead to the friendship. To this day fans from both clubs come over to games and sometimes „Die Elf vom Niederrhein“ - the anthem of Borussia Mönchengladbach will be played at halftime at Anfield. The nickname the foals - young horses was already explained by someone else in the comments and comes from the team of the 70s with many young players who played energetic like young horses who can‘t be tamed. One of those players was Günter Netzer which gave the mascot Jünter - Günter with a rhinish accent - the name. You saw Jünter in the show as the little puppet horse. fohlen is not a donkey, its a young horse, it came up because gladbach used to have a really young sqaud filled with talents. Gladbach actually brought up quite a few world class players like lothar matthäus, marc andre ter stegen, Berti vogts, günther netzer or marco reus.

Thanks, loved your video! Was born 10 walking minutes from the Bökelberg, this is my club! Had tears in my eyes when we qualified for the Champions League for the first time and they played the CL anthem in Borussia-Park! Yes, we have a fan friendship with Liverpool, since Gladbach fans donated a good amount of money for the families of the Hillsborough catastrophe… they even play our song Die Elf Vom Niederrhein from time to time at Anfield, even in CL matches! You’ve come to my team ….I was stationed 15 miles from Moenchengladbach and as my first ever football match was Everton v Moenchengladbach in November 1970 I’ve followed them ever since .. I come from St Helens and tell people that I come from near Liverpool to make things easier.. They presume that I like Liverpool..Some have never heard of Everton ,some even think they’re from London😀… Followed Gladbach all over Europe over the years … Off to Stuttgart in 2 weeks for the last game … I’m a season ticket holder but can’t obviously get to every game I’ve been to 15 home and away this season 👍 Ps…. Foals are young horses..A reference to the young attacking players from the past😮

DONKEYS?! NO! *A Foal is a young Horse! The Name came from the time, when Berti Vogts, Günther Netzer, Jupp Heynckes, Rainer Bonhoff, etc. rocked Europe unexpectingly, as super young, completly unknown players and also won international cups! They were a very young Team, for the time ; "young Horses"! Foals.

Nice to see that you visit my team. British football fans are always welcome at the Borussia Park. Like you have said in some weeks the Museum even opens a section only focused on stories with english clubs/fans. A few months ago I also saw some Derby County supporters visiting Mönchengladbach. I hope you liked it and you maybe visit a game from us in the future. In 2025 we also celebrate the 125 year anniversairy I hope we might see you there. @RysFootyParidise I am looking forward as well... if it is possible for you I would also visit some fallen giants in the lower division like 1860 Muinch, Essen or Duisburg. They always have a good fanbase with very loyal fans. If you are in the west of Germany you could also go to the Netherlands they also have some good fans in the Eredivise or Keuken Kampion Divisie(It is there second league). Clubs like Twente, Breda, Tilburg, Nijmegen and many more have very loud and proud fans.

Yes the little park with drink stands is where you can eat and drink its full 3-4 hours before the game. Also around the corner from the stadium is the Fan house also worth a visit 😉💚

a Foal is a young horse. Your "friend" fooled you or is terribly misinformed. Or a fan of cologne, which are Mönchengladbach's arch enemies so it would be obvious why he would call BMG donkeys. They were called foals in an article from Kicker in the 70ies due to their young age in average and their quick dribblings and passes, and the public adapted it.
