At a photography expo I picked up a Sony Mavica MVC-FD87 from 2001. ► ► Support the channel: / retrogamecouch ► Discord: / discord ► Twitter: / retrogamecouch ► Facebook: / retrogamecouch ► Please like and subscribe!
In 2000 two friends and I took a 3 week backpacking trip around Scandinavia (from the US). One of the friends used one of these cameras for his professional work (real estate investment) and decided to bring one of these (and several boxes of floppy disks!) along with him to document the trip. He was very quickly hating life, having to carry around the bulky Digital Mavica + 4 or so boxes of blank floppies, which took up a good amount of his precious backpack space. He made it through the trip, though. On the other hand, I had my compact Olympus digital camera that took MMC memory cards and AA batteries and not much space.
I was literally going to donate my newly found Mavica to the local Thrift Store as I didn't have any way to power it up although I should look for that DC in Jack. -Mark.
Nice one 🙂 Perhaps i should start looking through all old electronics i have and see if i can do a retro-weekend. I know i have an old console (and i mean OLD) with different variations on Pong somewhere and also an old webcamera of some sort. Not that i would be doing any videos about it, but you've got that taken care of 👍
I don't think I know about these! I'm really surprised that this got released in 2001... and doesn't seem to be too rare now either. It's been a long time since I was into photography, and this could be a good reason to get back into it... if I could get one with the battery for cheap, I might actually go for it. :P Although I'm not too happy about the reliability of the diskettes I'm using...
@@RetroGameCouch I see one for €32 including sending fees on Marktplaats. You're right, they are cheap. I'll consider getting it. :D (although posting about it here, someone else might beat me to it :P)
