I was told that if you go too long without eating when you do it your body goes into famine mode and conserves energy this impairs the losing of weight When I went on the Keto diet i fasted for 16 hours a day Roughly from 8 in the evening until lunchtime the next day missing out breakfast. I must admit I lost weight did not feel hungry and felt really good, but I love my potatoes bread and pasta. So did not stick to it for too long I did find white cabbage was good for replacing pasta and rice. Watching your videos has given me the motivation to go back on it and also the meal ideas so thanks for that

Yeah I did a white cabbage leaf lasagne. I was surprised how nice it was. Im the same as you..lost about 3 stone in 3 months...then gave in to the devil potato lol I piled it all back on and more so quickly. I mainly gave it up because of the stomach problems I was having. Think I may try again just eat less fat.

You are always so contiencious and dilligent about posting. Even when you were sick Martin. I know that the filming is probably the least of it all. The production and editing is a lot of work and you do it so well but we'll all understand if you feel you have to skip one or two due to the pressures of the day. Hi Rick, Yes, we do keep plugging away at it lol. You have had similar problems to me with the gall bladder and that ache under the right rib cage, Mine has been there for 6 months but since cutting out the processed foods and veg, its nearly gone. Great sleep, having energy and no aching joints and a stone lost as well. Glad you found the carnivore as that's basically what i'm on now but eating fish as well. I loved veg but since cutting it out a week ago, no more bloating. All the best bud and enjoy your regime for life. Cheers Martin

I hope your "Auntie" is doing okay. I love vegetables too but I have had to cut back. I am allowed 1 cup of non starchy vegetables and 2 cups leafy greens which include all the cabbages, sprouts, etc. What I have found some vegetables cause me to have an arthritic flare up - cabbage, sprouts, cauliflower, tomatoes. Mushrooms and asparagus give me an immediate flare up of gout. My go to vegetables now are lettuces, radishes, cucumbers, green beans, some broccoli and Bok choy. I miss the starchy vegetables or root vegetables but it has been over a year since I have eaten them except for some squash and turnip at Christmas. I love tinned fish as well, eat lots of tinned smoked kippers, smoked sardine fillets, tuna and wild sockeye salmon. Eating healthy does not have to be expensive but eating take out is. I can buy a whole chicken for the price of a burger and fries at McDonalds that will last several days.

I eat eggs sausage and bacon perhaps a burger as well for breakfast. I then have steak or pork chops or liver and bacon....for lunch all cooked in butter. Then fast until breakfast the next day I drink coffee and water and take electrolytes.... No carbs...the body doesnt need them...nor does it need fibre. So fat protein and water.... Lost 50lbs in 4 months which has stayed off...the only thing that has ever worked because it fills you up instead of eating the sugary processed crap they sell these days. Thats not food.

I love mackrel fillets anyway they come. I can't eat any green vegetables, and that includes white cabbage and cauliflower, they give me violent stomach and gut ache. Ive been like it since a small child. It turned out that it was the iron content in them that im allergic to. The most i can manage with iron in it is liver. I can't even take an oral iron supplement, as it has the same effect on me. So i have to have iron infusions at the hospital from time to time. I can do root vegetables no problem. I never use any sort of oils, i always stick to butter, lard or dripping.

Martin, try doing the FODMAP diet - broccoli, sprouts, cauliflower are all brassicas and difficult to digest hence the bloating.
@Angel-002
@Angel-002 6 месяцев назад
Martin DO NOT DO THE FODMAP DIET!! 😂 It is a nightmare & that should only be done under a dietitian/nutritionist. I did it for 12-18 months for my IBS & under the "guidance" of a dietitian. It's very restrictive & if you have a spoonful of peas you cannot have a spoonful of broccoli or corn etc. You can't have onions or garlic & there's so many fruits & vegetables you can't have along with dairy & gluten. You can't have stoned fruit (that's fruit with seeds or stones in them not fruit that's been doing drugs🤣🤣) on the FODMAP diet so no cherries, peaches, plums or AVOCADO amongst many others🙄 At first the dietitian thought I wasn't following it properly & insulted my intelligence by saying I'd "perhaps misread labels & that's why it wasn't working"!! I started taking pictures on my phone to show her labels & what I was eating & things like gluten free fish in breadcrumbs I didn't have because it had "pea flour" in the ingredients!! She then realised I was following it properly & admitted the diet doesn't work for around 25% of people as their symptoms are so bad & they don't know what causes it! It didn't make any difference to my symptoms after all that time & I actually felt worse AND put weight on!! Unbelievable 😂😂 I found by accident last year when I was eating lots of salads with just meat & fish which I usually do but I'd run out of bread & then didn't fancy any for some reason. It was only after a few weeks of "accidentally" not having carbs & just eating my usual salads or meat & veg but no potatoes that I noticed a difference & not only to my IBS symptoms but my arthritis etc. I then started looking into diets & was reading about processed foods etc. I would have tinned or fresh soup occasionally for lunch not realising all the additives etc & even in the expensive ham I bought for salads & sandwiches had nitrites & nitrates in it! I thought the fresh soups & little tubs of fresh mixed bean salad etc were better for me, but they are full of additives & so many things have xanthan gum or guar gum etc. in them. I know the FODMAP diet works for some people, but I think not having all the additives in foods is a much better way to go. It's just a matter of finding out which fruit & veg bloat you & don't agree with you & which you are ok with, but you've got a lot more options doing it this way than doing the FODMAP diet in my opinion anyway. Also the FODMAP diet isn't supposed to be a permanent diet, it is to try to eliminate foods that are causing symptoms/discomfort & then slowly reintroduce other foods to see how they effect you, but some people do just stay on it. At least doing it the way Martin & Sharon are, it is more about clean & healthy eating so can be maintained. @user-qt9np5vi9d if you are doing the FODMAP diet I don't envy you & hope you are doing well. I know it's not an easy diet.

I've not heard of the BBBE diet, but it sounds similar to the carnivore diet which is obviously meats (& obviously includes beef & bacon, but also offal if you like it & other meat), butter, eggs & fish. Some people also eat some cheese. I'm wondering if people switched to the carnivore diet because of the effects vegetables (& fruit) were having on them. A doctor did explain that as humans we are not designed for digesting fruits & vegetables as we only have one compartmental stomach. Most animals that eat grass etc, like sheep, cows, deer etc have at least 4 compartments in their stomachs to process & breakdown the fermentation of the grass or in our case vegetables. It is passed through each compartment as it breaksdown & we obviously don't have that so the vegetables just ferment & cause bubbling in our stomachs! Thats why we get bloating & stomach cramps etc & can feel quite bad after eating them. This is also why many people have switched to the carnivore diet & have all said they have more energy, sleep better, their symptoms of many ailments including diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol, pains etc have all gone & they have lost weight too!! Like Martin said you are not as hungry when you eat more protein & the right fats & you don't have cravings or eat as much. I've said before in a few weeks I'm going to wean myselfvonto the carnivore diet (I've read not to just do it as it can give you an upset stomach or what they call carnivore flu for a week or two) so it will be interesting to see how things go with the BBBE diet👍 P.S. I'm not doing it to lose weight, although that would be a bonus, but to see if it makes a difference to my IBS symptoms & my arthritis etc. Just cutting out carbs has helped & I don't have the swelling in my knees ( I need replacements, but I'm too young🙄😁) & the occasional pain the odd day, but nothing like it was & no headaches👍 When you are suffering for as long as some of us have, you'll try anything 😁 PPS. I've just watched Rick Vanman's introduction & it is to do with the carnivore diet....he's just got himself a new sub👍 Feel a bit sorry that he hadn't realised no sauces or sweeteners bless hom, but I'll definitely be watching with interest.....cheers Martin 👍

Great video, please don't give up on your AOVE ( extra virgen olive oil) it is never used for cooking in our part of the mediterraneo. We drizzle it cold on our food. With raw minced garlic and tomatoes. Over the top of our green beans and mushrooms. Yes we also drizzle it over avocados. A few fillets of the fish of your choice a very hot skillet 2 minutes ( or less) either side, leave a minute to rest on a warmed plate and drizzle over with a mix of AOVE, minced garlic and flat chopped parsley.

Good morning (6am here) I do wish your family member all the best. Hope no one has to suffer. I have had pilchards on toast for years. So tasty. I will be very interested to find out how the bloating goes. It is a problem I have had for years. I do not diet but my tastes change, so there for my eating. I eat on a smaller plate. I will pop some chicken portions on for later, for a meal and a pick if I feel hungry. I think a lot of my eating is habit! Make sure you both stay healthy, who looks out for you? Like you both do for all the others?

I think cutting down the size of meals results in less craving as your stomach adjusts. Looking forward to hearing how you get on and if your energy levels increase. Thanks for sharing, very interesting x

Hats off to ya. I cut out sugar and been low carb since October and feel so much better. I’ve lost over a stone without trying. You not only don’t feel hungry, you lose the cravings and your relationship with food changes completely. I still enjoy my food, but it’s more about putting good fuel in your system. Eating junk and sugar is like a drug and is makes you totally obsessed about eating more and more sugar! Once you start looking it’s scary how much sugar food companies put into everything.

Hi Martin , i do alot of strength comps, when your body becomes used to what your putting in you actually have to trick it to jump start the process again. its like mind games. Normally a couple of bad days of carbs and then switch back to your high protein zero carb will do the trick. You might feel like your doing the wrong thing but its what you have to do . You have to reshock the body to get the weight loss again

I only used to like sardines on toast but I tried a tip i found on RU-vid to mix the sardines with a chopped tomato and it was delicious it could then be eaten with a salad. To skin the tomato immerse in a dish with boiling water for a few minutes, it then peels off easily. I never thought of heating it, I shall try that with a bit of butter next time after I have added the tomato. love all these ideas for quick easy meals. Thank you Martin and Sharon ❤

Martin,👍 I understand your viewpoint on bloating. I went on a health kick eating tuna salmon and turkey and salads. I also drank 2 to 3 litres of water a day. The bloating went, and totally different pleasant sensations in the stomach. The above combined with moderate exercise, I lost a lot of weight. I found the feel-good factor a r wonderful experience .

To be honest with you Martin, my son who is serving our country in the R.A.F ( Royal Air Forces) protecting our country and am proud, to say the least he only bought tuna in brine & baked beans to cook after his really hard active day 12 hours shift, he has a completely fantastic body. Hence why the RAF love him and now he’s teaching new recruits how to protect England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿and how to eat well providing them with the energy they need when we are under attack. To me this is definitely worth looking into, instead of trying to loose weight. As it’s more important to survive.

Glenryk Pilchards traditionally in tomato sauce now available in brine, come in 400g tins and I think 110g traditional cylindrical cans, Grace Mackerel in similar sized tins in tomato sauce or spicy tomato sauce

We've been subscribed to your channel for about a year now, and we absolutely love all of your content. Your vlogs with your family are especially entertaining and heartwarming. However, we've noticed a shift in your recent videos towards healthy eating, which we find to be a bit less engaging. We hope you won't forget the content that drew us to your channel in the first place. Your authentic personality, genuine interactions with your family, and creative storytelling are what make your channel so special. We would love to see more of these elements in your future videos.

I have similar dietary issues ie: gluten intolerance and pre diabetes and found juicing organic cellary (16 fluid oz) first thing in the morning which is beneficial to a sensitive bloated stomach. Sauerkraut is very good as a side dish for a main meal its packed with vitamin c and is a antioxidant and is kind on the stomach. Peppermint infusion bags could be helpful taken at night if suffering from bloating. buscopan peppermint oil could also be a good remedy

I did keto, but now carnivore. Just have lunch, which i eat slowly and stop when feeling full. If i happen to feel snacky in the evening i just throw a rasher of bacon into the airfryer or a have a boiled or scrambled egg. Its interesting that people with stoma bags say they never eat veg because it makes the stoma bag full of gas. Have you ever thought why sweetcorn, mushrooms pass through you undigested. Watch the ingredients on that brand of butter, i found one that hardly had any milk in it? This is common in the USA at the moment. I just supplement with zinc, magnesium , K2.

I'm a carnivore following serious health issues several years ago. Over the years I've tried everything to lose weight and better my health. This is the only way of eating that doesn't have me thinking of food 24/7 no weighing, calorie counting and I'm full after eating. 4 health issues have gone so far. Love mackerel and love following this journey with you. ❤
