Hi Scotty, Could you please help me answer my question? I own a mercedes C klasse C200 CDI from 2002. It has a fuel distributor(Common rail assembly) with at one end a fuel pressure sensor(sender unit) and at the other end a fuel pressure regulator(control valve). My first question is if you could explain what the difference is between these two. My second question is if it is possible and necesarry to clean them for preventive maintenance like you do to the other sensors with MAF cleaner or other types of cleaners. Could they give faulty readings because of present excessive dirt? Thank you!!

Japanese came over to study what Americans wanted in a luxury car. I rode in a new[1991]Buick Park Avenue. Front wheel drive with a 3.8 V6. The ride quality? I thought I was riding in a Chevette. In the back seat hearing a poorly designed rear suspension and feeling bumps and shudders. Poopoo GM. Selling point to Grandma? "Front wheel drive, good in snow."
@fromthebackofmymind
@fromthebackofmymind 3 года назад
@@youness.h9404 the Control valve sends excess fuel back to the fuel tank. The pressure sensor sends electric feedback to the engine management computer. They work together to maintain pressure, volume for optimal fuel delivery. Do the loan a tool from nearby auto parts store. Borrow their fuel injector test kit. A bad fuel control valve will cause rich or lean condition. Fuel smells and puddling If too rich. Check pump output a test location on the fuel rail.

10 years ago I paid $500 for a 91 Lexus LS400 on Craigslist with 180k miles that was making a horrendous sound under the hood. The owner was certain the engine was toast. Since the tires were almost new I took the deal. Turns out the horrendous sound was the fan clutch bearing bracket $150 part at Auto store. Changed it out. Purred like a kitten. Still running today. 😀

Hey Scotty, those LS430s are the most popular mode of transportation overhere in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, everyone and I mean EVERYONE are buying them!!! We are importing them from US, EU and Australia, these cars are bulletproof and they withstand the heat of our region so flawlessly! Maintenance is unbelievably cheap! Everyone owns 1 or 2! Driving 150 miles road trips is a piece of cake for these cars!! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻And infact when you once said that the new Lexus LS is the best car possibly in the world, I totally agree with you 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Changed plugs at 1400,000 K.L.M now use 1 to 1.5 liters less fuel per 100KLM (self fix i guy) No issues except steering column motor trunk struts and air condition rubber hose failure. A clean car in and out no rust. (Canadian winters) Original rotors no vibrations only pads changed. Self changed trans fluid after 16 years (black) 4 changes at 1.7 liters per drain and fill. (recommended by dealer) Had an E 430 (Mercedes)1999 (what a hunk of junk) spent more time under it than in it.👍

The only thing i don't like are the stock wheels and the stock exhaust tips, which are easily modifiable. I'm always temped to pick up a clean one for just several grand. Almost bought a 2011 Ford Escape, did some research and somehow ended up on scottys RU-vid channel... long story short passed on the escape waited and found a 2003 Lexus RX300 with 137k miles for $4 grand. Got it inspected found out it needed new tires, air filter, and a an oil change but was in great shape besides. Way older vehicle with way more miles then I was first wanting but I’m feeling good about this purchase.

I put in the exact same OEM Denso radiator myself for $200. I had the driver door lock actuator go out. I also replaced the hood struts as they were fairly weak and didn’t hold up the hood. Replacement ones worked perfectly. Still drove like a dream, one of the smoothest riding cars on the road.

I keep telling myself that the price of gas is offset by the better safety potential of this vehicle. With the power switch on and with higher quality fuel, the car does accelerate more impressively than in your video. This car is a keeper.

Scotty. Have a 2011 gmc crew z71, 53,000 miles. Bought it new. No problems until Monday eve. pulled up to stop sign and when slowly pulled out started running extremely rough. 25 miles per hour tops to my house 1 1/2 miles away. warnings were traction control, steering stabilitrack, ABS. reduced engine power loss and maybe a couple other. Got me some parts, steering position sensor and throttle position sensor. Took off hose to throttle body, got rag, old tooth brush and can of throttle body cleaner. Throttle body was pretty dirty. Got it spick and span. Started the truck and sprayed cleaner into throttle body while running. I took off the positive cable for 20 minutes to reset computer, put hose back on, started up and all seemed well with no warnings. Ran to store about 5 miles, on interstate ran hard up to 3rd gear on Alison 6 speed 75mph, 5500 rpm, with tow package, 5.3 vortec. Got fuel injection cleaner, poured in tank about 1/4 full. Came home and ran same way. No codes what so ever. Watched your video before on cleaning throttle body every so often. first time clean and saved myself trip to shop. I figured steering position sensing sys was enacted because so rough idol , and throttle body just dirty caused all codes. Did not have to replace parts or take off the throttle body. Figure would have cost about grand here because they would have replaced parts due to codes. Now just to finish up here in NE Wyoming in couple days and snowbird down to Brenhan, TX for winter. For most vehicles I've seen (old and new) 100k miles is about the life of most timing belts. On older Honda's it used to be about every 60k (but this was also at a time when people were only driving 12k per year so about every 5 years, nowadays 60k is probably more like 3-4 years of driving, but most modern cars that still having timing belts, can go 100-120k). Luckily companies like Honda did away with them in the Civic and Accord (And possibly others) because IMO the benefit of a belt (mainly weight savings) doesn't outweigh the potential for problems, especially if you're bad with maintenance. At least with a chain as long as you change your oil regularly and keep it topped off (so the chain is lubed) then you don't really have to worry about it for the life of the vehicle. But at the same time if someone sayd you never have to change a timing belt (or it's a lifetime belt) don't believe them. I'd error on the side of only doing 100k at most on any timing belt, but read the manual and find out when the mfr recommends replacing it). It's a little less of an issue if a belt breaks on a non-interference engine.

Finally!!! My favorite v8 engine! The 3uz! BTW. About the p0430 code. I am pretty sure that the code comes because of an exhaust leak. It is just behind the second 02 sensor under the exhaust heat shield. This is very common on these! The catalyst itself is fine.

The fact that you bought an LS430 with that kind of millage, you should be lucky. Those cars are so hard to find because people don't ever want to sell them. And usually the ones on sale have worn out seats or something.

Providing you won't get into and accident or encounter a natural disaster. Your next purchase will be an electric vehicle. Very fortunate purchase.. practically not even broken in..

Another big problem is the starter. You have to take off the intake manifold to get to it. It can be a $1000+ job

Scotty said this on his SC430 video. It had 700000 miles. Still original. Not worth worrying about.

@@southerncharity7928 no, Scotty said that about one car...he also said it's a draw back..700k for a starter isn't the average ...

Just bought an 03 LS430 classic luxury with 40000 miles on it. Actually 65000km b/c I'm in Canada. Honestly I was worried about the RWD on the vehicle considering the outrageous weather conditions we live with out here. The vehicle sticks to the road and honestly makes me feel like a ceo daily. I Would recommend this to anyone who is even considering buying one. They are rad 👌😎
