I'm getting flashbacks to the one time my "local" LGS Owner looked at Return to Ravnica's reprint of Paralyzing Grasp and swore up and down that it was a brand new print. (It came in Zendikar first.) You get to a point where there's too many cards and you can't recall what's a reprint or not. It happens.

I was out of work for almost 9 weeks from my construction job. Wearing my "My Bones Hurt" shirt when I get home feels very apt.

Before I even watched this video I used to love this character back in torment and so it's cool to see him return

TCC (the professor) did a video with Chainer Nightmare adept that was very fascinating and allows you to make real use of your creatures in your graveyard. While we got new cards like Durable Coilbug to go along the Sanitarium Skeleton no one has an answer to the biggest problem except Syr Conrade the grim whom may be the only realistic graveyard deck as he will punish opponents (should he be on the battlefield) for removing his graveyard. While Chainer Nightmare Adept is a really fun concept and it's always funny to be able to make use of the Flash red and black creatures, discard a card to cast Memnite, and gain a Pheonix every time you do have to recast your commander the graveyard is a fragile resource, especially the slower the game goes, things in the graveyard can easily be exiled. This is why Chainer nightmare adept never actually "caught on" and Chainer dementia master with Kr'rk son of yawgmoth has "some" protection as long as you have another 9 life to make use of for each instance an opponent has to exile that important card in your graveyard. Anje Falkenwrath became popular because of how fast she can "do her thing" and her main way of winning is with Worldgorger dragon which is the most risky combo in the game but if it is pulled off, she makes it work as long as your functionally creating mana and Anje is on the battlefield everytime Worldgorger dragon is selected as the target. Laquatus's Champion reminds me of the Eternal Darkness 🎮 When a creature spots you, you'll lose a chunk of sanity and get it back once you kill it.

Man, the quick lore synopsis is the best part of these videos! (Especially when my favorite character Kamahl is mentioned!)

I think it’s cool he gives himself haste when you cast him from the command zone. Since he wasn’t cast from your hand you can attack once you play him which is cool because if you’re able to have a good first hand easily turn 2 (with the right mana)

There is also a neat interaction with Chainer's new card and the madness mechanic, that originated in torment, which is the block where Chainer's original card came out, and is that the activation cost of the ability of the new card, which is discarding a card, enables to cast madness cards for it's madness cost, which is pretty flavorful and fits well with the concept of chainer as a dementia summoner, that spreads "madness" through his magic.

Chainer's second ability triggers even if the creature came out from Adventure or Foretell. Awesome

This card is the main reason I bought the Anje Falkenrath commander deck when it came out.

Looks like a new friend for Bloodghast, Gravecrawler etc.

I wish instead they had created Master Skullem. He was by far my favorite character. He was loyal to the Cabal, and end the end realized to late that the First (The Patriarch) was corrupting the Cabal ideal. He was also Chainer's trainer. The Odyssey block story is by far my favorite!

I might be wrong, but I think this all takes place on Domnari. I think the story takes place on some island but it’s not it’s own plane.

Chainer is my favorite magic character. Him and Khamal were amazing. But I don’t agree with him being anything but in black.

Has anyone used Chainer as the commander in their discard deck? If so, how does it work out, usually? I've been wanting to build a commander deck around him, but it feels like it could be a little too slow paced to run effectively for some reason.
