a double helix (with a gun bc i didnt know much about piercing back then 💀) healed for about a year or so bc i kept messing with it. and a flat and upper lobe, got it just about 3 weeks ago! (with needle this time) it got irritated sometimes bc its still healing but the process is much better than the double helix (ofc).

@kateb7840
@kateb7840 4 года назад
Dani Stratosphere I actually agree with the almost zero aftercare. I religiously cleaned my Daith twice a day like my piercer told me and it had bumps and wouldn’t heal. I finally switched from twice a day with wound wash to once a day with Dr. Bronner’s in the shower, and was stricter about touching it, and it healed. Less is more in piercing aftercare.
@LuckyyRat952
@LuckyyRat952 4 года назад
Kat EB it depends on how long you use the wound wash for as well, if you soak for 10 minutes twice a day can be too much but if you soak it for 5 each time it’ll heal just fine

Mine all healed fairly quickly. Clean at least twice a day, or more if needed. This was suggested to me by the piercer/tattoo artist at the shop I went to in Dallas, Texas when I got my belly button pierced when I was 21, in the early 1990's. Still have the piercing, and still use povidone-iodine for occaisional wound care for myself and kids. Two of my kids have used it on their ears piercings too. This was one of my harder piercings to heal. It took about a year for it to fully heal. I did everything I was supposed to and still got a bump. Having to go get my jewelry switched because the bump was so big, then switch back after it went down was annoying. Love this piercing the most out of all my piercings, but it def had the most aftercare for me.

But afterwards, they’re all fantastic and clean and beautiful! If y’alls aren’t healed yet even tho it’s been a long time, just keep cleaning and waiting. Patience is key. :)

i have a question about this if you dont mind! i had gotten just my standard double lobe piercings and they always kind of hurt even a year after and then after i took it out due to that pain and wanting a break it immediately healed up and closed. do you think it was just a bad piercing job or does this seem like low key normal? really want to grt more piercings, im young so cant break the bank atm
@mika_kalea9463
@mika_kalea9463 11 месяцев назад
@@catlover4319 That does not sound normal. Which type of metal did you use for your piercings? To me it sounds like you might have had a slight allergic reaction, which prevents your wounds from healing, because they keep getting irritated. One of my friends had this problem. As soon as they switched to real gold, they were fine. It could also just be that you played around with your piercings too much, reopening the wounds in the process over and over.

I had this piercing done and it wasn't healing correctly for about a month and a half (my other piercings were a breeze to heal) so I went to my piercer and told him about the situation so he looked at it and said the jewelry (it was a ring) might have been too thin so the wound didn't have enough surface to like.. grab onto and heal over. So he changed it for a ring that was a tiny bit thicker (still really tiny because my ear is so ridiculously small) and in three days my ear was completely healed and I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH. I'm thinking maybe some of you here in the comments had the same issue but gave up instead of going to your guy to check on it..? Idk, just guessing

Titles like this are why people impulsively get piercings and have piercing complications and can’t heal them/grow piercing bumps etc etc. Every piercing requires more than “almost zero aftercare” and everyone’s body heals differently! While she may feel HER piercing requires little to no aftercare, it’s not okay to give the piercing in general that label!

I cleaned it with alcohol daily and twisted the piercing after cleaning it. As I was told to do. And left it in for a month. Also like I was told to do. When I took it out the piercing closed. I tried for over 15 minutes and couldn't get it back in. I'd go to Brian to get my cartilage pierced again. His process sounds like it would work better for me.

As a piercer but also someone with MANY piercings I saw the title and wanted to watch just to see how bad it was but there were some really good points brought up. Cleaning your piercing is important but making sure you are cleaning it with the right stuff is also important. The only thing i would add is that not every piercer pierces the same way. They may not use those exact tools or that exact jewelry. Always do your research but also ask questions and make sure EVERYTHING is sterile and opened in front of you.
