This CELEBRITY CHEF Restaurant SHOCKED ME! 

I've been waiting for the '10' as I promised myself I would post a comment. Gary, your channel should not work. Some random middle-aged, middle-class English chap going to random restaurants and talking, with no fanfare, about dishes, service, ambience, price, all the while covered by an extremely illusive Cameraman. No crazy thumbnails, no obvious pattern of restaurant choice, no focus on the obvious targets. Your channel should not work. I have a sheet on my wall next to my desk, that counts your subscribers since January 1st this year (at that time fractionally over 40k and I had been hooked for some time). You've just doubled it in less than five months. That's unheard of. Honesty. No Frills. Simple. Concise. Believable. Trustworthy. Erudite. REAL. Gary, your channel should not work. But it's fast becoming the best channel on RU-vid. Please please please don't ever change! And thank you.

He’s one of the only food reviewers that doesn’t eat really loudly or with mouth open refreshing he has manners seems a lovely chap! 👍🏼

Not sure what will be more joyful, seeing Gary eat at another seafood restaurant or seeing him pass 100k RU-vid subs and get his plaque. Which he richly deserves.

Whenever I’ve seen Paul Ainsworth on the TV he always comes across as a really humble and nice guy who treats his staff really well too. Not the attitude or ego of some other “celebrity” chefs. Food looks absolutely delicious 👍👍

As a Cornishman and an ex fisherman of a certain age, I can remember people freaking out when they had to start paying fifty pence for a fresh scallop! 'Ten Shillings!!!' the screamed.🤣 Shoulder of lamb is the best joint for me, absolutely love it. All looked good, and glad to see local mussels finally getting on the menu. They could've been way back, but there's a story behind that for another time. Good vlog mate and thanks.

My wife used to frequent Marriner's when it was a dive in the 90's, way before it was taken over & renovated. We went there for lunch last year to reminisce, it was just wow, so good. We're back at the end of this month & can't wait to return.

It must be good Gary, you was dancing in your seat describing the scallops, the mussels and the pie looked fantastic. Congratulations to the owners for an exemplary restaurant.

You can’t get a meal of that quality anywhere for that price - I don’t call that expensive - I call it great value - good things are worth paying for 👍🏻👍🏻

I am going to put things into perspective. Gary, that cost 10 quid more than that Padstow garbage. All I can say is WOW.. I could taste every mouthful of that meal. I would have gone 10*. I hope your faith in Cornwall has been restored. Fantastic

(75) Wow. A "destination/celebration" restaurant. The type of place you put aside a money jar for so you are prepared for the bill. Place looked just BEAUTIFUL; thank you Gary for letting us tag along for another "dream feast" of a meal.

The bill is only frightening if the food was awful, to have 3 dishes that were the best you tasted,totally worth £46.60

I would happily pay that price for quality food and that view!.. Quality ingredients, excellent cooking and nothing overstated. Let the food and the chef do the talking!!!....I would certainly be booking a return visit!

Really amazing food and amazing channel,you have a gift of making me feel relaxed and happy when life gets me stressed ,it’s doing hell with my waistline but I’ve learned to only watch you while having my tea.It’s onwards and upwards for your channel.

I work in a restaurant called four boys 3-4 minutes walk from here. Gordon Ramsey house is about half a mile on the side you are standing up from here. He is actually very warm to speak to nothing like on TV comes in our restaurant now and then. Know some of the staff Mariners in the Mariners well when from here everyone knows everyone 😂

With the cost of living still effecting many, on the occasion that people do eat out they want food that is not only presented well and tastes exceptional but is also reasonably priced. The Mariners seems to have achieved that

Hi Gary and Mr Cameraman Gary so happy to see you covering some seafood, you made my day. Firstly some great camerawork and close ups on this vlog can you pass on my regards to Mr Cameraman. Now i will cover the score first, as if it had not been a ten i would of been disappointed as the food looked sublime. The Scallop looked so good, i actually ate it with you in this clip. Re the Mussels i think your bang on them being Thai, as Thai-style mussels are a very common recipe, Jamie Oliver makes a nice version also. As for the shepherds pie, what can you say, amazing chunks of lamb and a very clever Basil and mint sauce (I to must try that) Excellent vlog my friend. Chris. Paul Ainsworth is a proper chef, glad to see his name isn't being spread too thin with multiple restaurants. When you were eating the scallop, I was reminded of the popcorn tofu at Nobu in Budapest that was so good I immediately ordered another portion, despite having other courses already ordered. Reckon you could have squeezed another scallop in too ;)

Ten quid for one (large) mouthful is extracting the Michael, IMO. -1 A quid per mussel (approximately) is doing the same. -1 (The easy way to eat mussels is to use the shell of the first one as a pair of tweezers to dismantle the rest of them, French style.) The shepherd's pie looked good, but to pay extra for some veggies? -1 There's obviously a lot of money floating around that part of the world... I'd give it 7 /10, and that's being generous.

Wow I love the way you explain the dish with a real joy of the food . Lamb is sooo expensive at the moment so the price is probably really good value indeed !! I almost smelt the food with your descriptions and the heat coming from the shepherds pie looked amazing !! Rock here we come ❤️

I have a lot of memories of Rock as I use to go there during the Summer holidays when we we visiting my dad's family in Plymouth.

Another great review. I had shepherds pie in the lake district and that was strips of lamb as opposed to mince. Very nice, all looked amazing.
