You say the cup finals was your peak, but to me this is even more exciting cause we can become contenders for a decade at least instead of one good playoff run with vets who force us into a rebuild the year after.

Well well... Figured this would be a top heavy forward draft. The Pundits were saying we could see as many as 6 defenseman going into the top 10. We had 6 forwards going into the top 10 and 4 of the 5 top picks were forwards. I think Anheim and Columbus going off pick were a big reason for this but not surprising since forwards are always more prized by teams then defenseman. Pretty sure Chicago fans are crying right now about the Artyom Levshunov pick, but the guy is a stud. He is what Chicago needs and they should appreciate him for his abilities. People expect teams to pick BOP (Best pick available) But a teams needs always comes first. You can't simply pick a player and not have a place for him in your line up. Its why the Zeev Buium was never going to happen for Montreal. Its just more misdirection by Montreal so they could draft the player they really wanted and that was Ivan Demidov. Ivan demidov will be a future all star for Montreal. He is the real deal and unlike Matvei Michkov doesn't have the red flags that he had. And we are not talking about the 3 year contract. There were other concerns other then the contract. Nick Bobrov has deep connections in Russia and SKA in particular. He is the Habs chief scout for Russia and if he had concerns about Michkov then you should have them as well. Bobrov wanted Demidov and we got him. Montreal is building in the right way. We are set for our forwards defenseman and last year's draft goalkeepers. We don't have many holes left now. Yes we could use more top 6 forwards and we may yet this year get them in a trade. But for now, we are looking good in our rebuild. And Celine Dion looked great announcing our pick.

It murders me that people need to “come around” on Reinbacher. Why? We already know Mitchkov didn’t want to go to Montreal. We got the best D prospect in the draft, and the only other actual option available at forward was Ryan Leonard. Habs did fine. And now they have, arguably, the most pure skilled player in this year’s draft. If I never hear Reinbacher brought up in this way again, it’ll be way too soon.
