VPN for OSRS is NOT recommended for many reasons, i.e it can mess up your account recovery, if jagex detects many logins from different IPs. This flags your account for account sharing (which isn't bannable) but is a great security risk. Also your account might also get flagged for account selling. Netflix forbids VPNs on their services. Your Netflix account gets suspected for highjacking and asks you to change password ASAP.
@@capu4516 If a botter uses the same VPN server as you you'll also get instantly flagged as a potential bot for sharing an IP. The latency on a VPN would also make any high level PvM or Pking significantly harder
I live in China and have to use vpn to play osrs. Love your content man but Express is the slowest and most unreliable vpn I’ve used the last few years living here in China.
Yeah and it feels as if sir pugger will go missing for a few days and be found somewhere in the middle of nowhere and be reported on news and spread through the rs community
@Paul Balfour I think you got that backwards, buddy. A proxy just redirects your traffic to a different machine/server. A VPN creates a virtual tunnel to an external network that encrypts all of your traffic. The only thing you need to be watchful of VPNs for is that they don't store any of your traffic data. Unless Jagex owns the VPN you are using, they can't possibly access your information without going to the VPN provider itself.
@@joshuavolkmann1977 yea no, there's no need for an "encrypted tunnel" to just make it look like your traffic is coming from a different IP-address... A proxy will suffice for that purpose.
@@joshuavolkmann1977 though that's pretty useless, as they will still ban you for anything illegal you did on your account. advertising a VPN for runescape is pointless lol.
@@dsperfkdsp9962 none of the servers are empty. There's a few with 300 players in em but that's as close to empty it'll get. This game has plenty of life left.
A word of warning: Tricking the bots into trading you is great, but it's also risky. When the bot gets banned, whichever account it traded will likely be flagged as a mule and permabanned for botting and RWT. Hence why the bot farms create disposable mules that will further trade off the resources/gold. You are not the intended mule, but the automated system may not know the difference. We would hope that such a ban might be overturned on appeal, but there's no guarantee. If you really wanna try it, I would advise creating your own dummy account, since there's no need to trade the bots directly from your main once you tele the real mule. Then if you get anything, drop trade it to your main in an obscure location. It's still possible that you might get banned doing this, but hopefully less risky.

You know, if runescape invested a little more time in giving legit players a P mod status, we could have a runescape bot task force to help a lot with these problems... but honestly, how often do you see P mods? It's free labor and a great tool they could use.
No, that's a bad idea. There have been many P mods in the past, and there has been a lot of abuse from them. Think of the house owners paying p mods to mute other house owners, or gambling bots getting p mods to mute other gambling bots. I think the time investment of having to keep an eye on pmods isn't worth it. However, a solution to the problem is very simple, at least in my opinion. Encourage people to report bots. This could be done through a small chat message telling a player that a person they've reported has been banned (for botting), this would let them know that their efforts are doing something. Maybe a very small reward like a tiny exp lamp or fashionscape clothes could be added for real reports too, and small punishments for a lot of false ones (like muting for 24 hours in case you mass report falsely).
Bro, there are no honest players. Everyone has a profit motive. I personally don't RWT, but there's a huge profit motive to do so for those with power behind the scenes. I guarantee many Pmods and probably Jmods have benefited financially outside of legal, or at least regulated means.
@@DrRence quit deflecting, I play iron men and like I said, I don't RWT. i'm saying that obviously the people in the position to profit off of large scale operations like that, will do so. Granting players bigger privileges simply invites more corruption.

lets face it, no matter how long yall been playing osrs, if you knew how to make $$$$ irl by recruiting Venezuelans and using bots, youd do it too lmao
You have to implement true human verification process upon making accounts, Easy. Only new accounts should be required to do this, then progress can be made on clearing the existing bots. UNLESS of course they're all in on it, and make half the game's revenue doing the exact same thing and selling gold irl.
They could easily make it require a nonvoip phone number that matches the location of the ip, track the isp to make sure its residential.. would stop mass accounts creations
@Lenny69 シ how would you pay people to verify the isp everytime it logs in? Dont you think it would stop a lot of accounts if you can only use the number once per account? People would have to pay $2 per phone verification and if they made it need a verification every week or so from the same number it would stop accounts from being sold..
Mr. Sir Pugger, do you ever think these videos just create advertisements for these bot farms? It seems fishy how willing these bot farm owners/sellers are to tell you their info.
I know what you mean man, but the thing the botters miss is the actual enjoyment we get for the progress in our account. Sometimes, getting stoned, doing Wintertodt, a farming run, and a quest can be more fruitful then the feeling if I were to try and bot, it just wouldn't be fun nor a way for me to wind down. I play mostly mobile now, so that's been wonderful to keep the interest. Keep it going, Osrs at it's roots was to Run & Escape from our normal world. ✋👽
I actually know how this is done, it's done through what's called an SI (Stacked Interface). If you manage to get a Stacked Interface (Basically interfaces that are stacked up), you can press the logout button to force log, which makes you invincible since other players can't target you. You could also just keep the Stacked Interface without even logging out, though the damage would just be delayed.
... when are they going to make you a P-Mod? Your heavy level of involvement in this community is underrated, and we need more people like you, who are in the spotlight, to keep setting the example of good player morale.
the multi account software thing is basically how multiboxers work on world of warcraft and its allowed as long as a keystroke is used for every action but i can totally see how it would break a game like runescape for gold generation

Hey SirPugger, I saw your last video, and as soon as I saw those accounts doing actions at the same time, I figured it was a multiboxing software. I actually multibox in World of Warcraft classic, which there is within their TOS. I actually could not believe Jagex was banning these people. It is kind of crazy the stance of both companies (Blizzard and Jagex) when it comes to multiboxing.
Not sure if this was answered, but for your question at 8:49 about how spamming trade msges would work I'm assuming they're using an older method to verify who they are trading. Or possibly not verifying at all. Basically the bot starts a muling method, stands in the right spot, waits for mule to trade it. Because you specifically said spam trade I'm going to assume some verification is occurring but its just poorly implemented. So bot enters Mule mode, waits for Mule trade msg to show up. Bot verifies the name, and goes to click that exact spot the msg was. That spot has changed however because you're spamming trades to it. So the exact spot in chat that got verified is now your trade msg and the bot thinks its the right thing to click because it just verified that a trade was initiated by the mule, and the bot doesn't do anything to confirm it has the right person after that. In computer science there is a lot of research that goes into authentication, be it user identity, or data sharing. In the field you would generally spend 1/3rd of your time trying to break or imagine how to break your own code. Essentially, this bot script is sloppy and I can definitely see how players were able to steal from it. Would have been interesting if someone wrote another bot to spam trade everything in those tiles. See just how much money they could pilfer before the bot owner updated the script.
There's literally as many bots on one world on osrs as there is in the entire game on Rs3. This is why osrs won't last. Sad times for osrs, I can't see it lasting more than a couple of years at this rate.
Sir pugs I actually just recorded a clip of a guy explains how the whole gamble bot scripts work. And instantly thought of you. Told me he makes 45m p/h with it.

I’m a computer scientist and I downloaded a runescape bot client. It’s super easy to make a bot and I only did it to see if runescape’s antiban works, and it doesn’t. I used my bot in one of the most common botting places and went unbanned for 4 days in a row. Also, tested it on multiple accounts and got up to 40 strength in a couple of hours. Like I said only did this for testing. Didn’t see the accounts or anything.
@@zephune9506 I'd agree it's not a good sample size. But also wouldn't need to bot for 2 weeks to get 99 strength as well as it depends on the type of account someone wants. @@Youseeinthisrn its not legit. Bot farms have been using purple on their accounts for years. Jagex has the bots they let ruin the game cuz they profit off them and are associated with them. Only real players get banned.
Multiboxing is actually pretty big in World of Warcraft. Its crazy when your just minding your own business and questing and you see a whole 40man raid all stacked ontop of eachother following 1 main character, just coming straight for you, all dancing and smacking you around😂😂😂 The only difference is blizzard flat out allows it. Some Boxers actually become "famous" and pretty well known throughout the game or server
Lots of medium level accounts are at the rune rocks at fossil island. They all have similar stats, namely 1 hunter, farming, and runecraft, with just over 85 mining. Could be gold farmers, could be a new bot farm starting up, I'm not sure
So does anyone actually play osrs legitimately anymore? Half the time when I see someone relatively high leveled I stop and wonder if they just used bots carefully or they actually put the work in.
There is also a runescrafting bot farm , bots around 49-58 levels teleport to corporal beast, then leave cave and run downwards to craft their runes. Reported most of them, they are running there for a good while. I also see same bots in clan wars banking.
3:31 says there can’t be thousands of players doing this however if you think of one screen as a player and they can do have 250 screens set up and sold it to 50 clients that means 250x50 12500 or less or more big brain time 🧠
When you buy the key, it only works on 1 computer. Each key is $100 minimum and you get 10 accounts. Anything more than that is server based and you have to pay a monthly fee. So, 1 “client” *could* have 1,000 going. But as he just said, most of them are running 40, max. I use a bunch at once and in the begging it was a disaster but recent updates have been coming out making it better and better. I currently make about 20m an hour making gold bars, afk.
Just let there be no free trade and be done with it. When there was no free trade bot's didnt exist, you had to play runescape, not just transfer 300m to build an account.
So glad i wasnt the only one to say it was multiboxing. Obviously i wouldnt be because the internet knows all, but it was the first time i thought of an answer to one of your questions that I actually knew!
When jagex removes something from the game and updates it/brings it back even worse to begin with. Sounds like pvp is the problem. Maybe they should make a mode only for pkers oh wait gotta love clan man mode cause that is real successful without prize money lol
I was in world 492, where i was trying to use dwarf cannon to farm chaos druids. However arriving there I barely walked and loaded a person at the edge around level 120. Luckily i was low level so i didnt really think about it much at first. However in less than 5 seconds, 6 dudes teleported to me, im guessing using amulet of burning compared to me which i walked there. I really suspect that level 120 was an information bot and instantly told a clan or an automated bots to teleport and destroy me due to the gear I was wearing. I really dont believe a clan was just waiting all day and responded under 5 seconds to someone entering the chaos druids. In the first tick they instantly teleblocked and used multiple special attack to burst me. Can you do me a favor and check this out? Dont risk yourself if you do. Thanks!
I came across something like this (multiboxing) out in the wild out at the alter. It was a group of lvl 22s doing bones, every time I got close they all attacked. In regards to how the "Teleothering" works to cause the bots to trade other people at 8:20: While I am not the best coder (despite my education background being in Business Information Technology - coding was never my strong suit) my *educated guess* would be that to stop the mule bot (one with priest gowns) which picks up the bots loot, is the key here. What do I mean? Well - The bots likely detect the priest gowns being worn, plus the spot they are being worn in, and navigate to go to to it in an attempt to deposit the stuff. Likely - The priest gown bot is the one that sends the trade offer to the bowstring spinner bots. Thus the bot coders likely did not account for the priest gown mule being disabled in this manner, and the bots thus will be waiting for a trade offer. Which if anyone gives to them, they will think it is the priest gown wearing mule, and offer their stuff. A very simple bot indeed. I am guessing it was made either in a rush, by someone with not the most experience, is a so called "bargain bin find" for the botter. Or! This particular weakness may get (unfortunately) patched out in a later update. IE: The bot program is very early in its development cycle. I do wonder... as a side note - If one wore the priest gowns, stood in that spot, logged out/back in (potentially changing via makeover mage to look like the stock-standard bot there may be needed) - Would the bots navigate to the person in order to trade? This would identify the priest gowns as the major factor of importance + the right spot + appearing to log in. (Though the bots may have an internal clock that is set to give a time range when the mule is present, so it may only work if this internal time range is in effect. I.E: "Every 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours the mule will pop in to collect the goods") If it indeed would work - The bot is really a simple one, and you could really mess them up by using their simplistic nature against them. *Obvious disclaimer:* The above is all mere an educated guess, at best, and is based on what limited information I have to go on to make it. So take it with a grain of salt. I also obviously dislike bots, and find them a very vile plague in games that needs to be eradicated. Send em to the scrap heap!
@@Dontrememberaskin Thank you! I was worried when posting it that it came off as a bit unclear. Took a bit of time to write, so nice to hear it was easy enough to understand!
sounds about right but it is very easy to fix as the developer. instead of making the conditions of who to trade to based off of clothes they should have done it off of character id. but if you do that in the code and the mule gets banned then you have to change the code which is a little annoying. probably just wanted to make a simple condition as he didn't expect anyone to dress like his mule and teleother him out.
@@aaronwalden5417 I would agree with you on that. It's about the only reason I could think of for this priest gown set up. But: Let's not give the so-called "dark hooded coder overlords" here too many ideas. We want them to keep failing after all. As, I think it's only for the best really - More stupider the bots, the better off the real honest players are. As then the bots are more easy to get rid of.... and also, to get to keep frustrating their rather shady owners/coders by meddling in their affairs. Which is always a big plus. *Send these dumb bots to the scrap heap!*
