I concur. Besides that, what is most lacking are political and social issues. Too bad, Singaporeans are mostly not keen on such stuff.
@macrick
@macrick 5 лет назад
For example, all the elderly dish collectors you see in hawker centres are mostly Singaporeans over 60. Think about it, is this the landscape you want to leave for your descendants? I hope one day the saying "In SG can afford to die but not get sick" will be a thing of the past.

I love your work and the passion you have for hawker food. As a tourist to Singapore, hawker centres can be a little intimidating - how to order, what to do with your dishes etc so it really helps to see you do it. What do you think of the hawker stalls that have made it into the Michelin guide?
@GregoryLeow
@GregoryLeow 5 лет назад
Thank you, Glad you find it useful. As for the Michelin recommendations, er... no comment 😂

I used to frequent the clay pot vendor at Chinatown hawker center. His "mountain" with holes in it, seemed like a special way to fire the claypots. I always enjoyed his offerings.

Greg thanks for reviewing this stall. My all time favorite claypot rice. Taste of the chicken is sublime and it's so damn tender! I haven't been there in a while but the Uncle mentioned that they do not sell the BKT anymore. This was after they shifted up next to 75 Ah Balling. They seemed to have stopped selling $6 portions as well. Not sure when you recorded this. Might be they reinstated it.
@GregoryLeow
@GregoryLeow 5 лет назад
I covered it earlier this year but yeah I didn’t order the bkt to check

Had the $20 std claypot rice to go. Smoky aroma, lots of well-marinated chicken, Chinese sausage.and liver sausage, and the ubiquitous salted fish. Good stuff! Salted fish was a bit too salty for me, but is good quality type (still mildly pink on the inside, usually indicative of quality salted fish). Overall, a very good serving of Claypot rice. Of course tapow is not the best way to eat CP rice, if having dine-in, will be piping-hot and crusty with rice crispy. Can call them to order ahead.

There used to be a nicer claypot rice in the corner of lower floor in the same food centre. It has since closed down or moved.

Hi Bro, Goodness, this video makes me " Lau Nua " throughout ! Yes, the " chow huai tar " rice is wonderful as it's crispy and I guessed that's about eating, Claypot Rice. I wonder, how it would taste if, basmati rise is used ? Have you tried the one at Holland Drive Food Centre ? It is as popular as the one in Chinatown Complex ( if I remember correctly, there are two stalls there ). Another great video n thank you for sharing, bro.

Hi Gregory another great video!!!! I was wondering have you tried the claypot rice at either ABC brickworks or holland drive, as for me these two stand out so wanted your opinion if you have tried all of these? Thanks :)
@GregoryLeow

The abc one is one of my faves! Comparable to the Chinatown complex ones. The Holland drove one is a hit and miss for me but I haven’t been back in years so it may have improved

Hi there, I’m coming to the end of my trip in Singapore and thought I’d return the favour by giving you a recommendation of my own. Char near Kallang does the beeeeeeest char siew I ever thought possible. The stickyness of the sauce, the unctuousness of the fatty pork. I took a photo but I don’t know how to put it on RU-vid. I’d love to know what you think!
@GregoryLeow
@GregoryLeow 5 лет назад
Yes! The chat Siu there is very good! Instead of pork shoulder they use pork belly if I’m correct. That’s why so good!

Hey Gregory, I often see people recommending the hawker center in Bedok. But when I look at the map, I see several centers in Bedok. Which one is the best?
@GregoryLeow

Bedok 85 fengshan centre is the one usually recommended for some reason. go at night and look for ah poh noodles. the other FCs have their own gems as well!
