*note that this episode was filmed before Singapore’s Circuit Breaker. I just waited until it was over to post it. 😝
**it was pointed out to me that gado gado is not vegetarian because of the dried shrimp they put in the sauce!

Hi Greogry, always excited bout your food vlog. I want to clarify a bit, actually wedang means hot beverage in Java Language(part of Indonesia) it could be a tea, ginger or anything hot to drink. All the food you mention in the video is Indonesian Food. Cant wait your next Vlog

Started following your food blogs a few months back, Greg. I must say your opinions and analyses are quite honest and down to earth. Will definitely follow-up on some of those food items when time permits. Thanks for your efforts.

Hi, Greg. Good to see your return. Your reviews have always introduced either an undiscovered gem or a new way of looking at those we take for granted. Thanks. Can I venture to suggest that you also give us your take on the newly emerging food like the Chinese Mala and Myanmarese food? The corner coffeeshop at Block 325 Clementi Ave 5 has a loyal following and although I would like to have a go at it, I wouldn't know where to start. Thanks

I've been looking for a good gado gado in Singapore, ever since I came back from Indonesia! They have wonderfully crunchy and fresh long beans, cucumbers, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, tahu, crispy fried crackers, rice cakes all slathered in a delicious spicy and sweet peanut sauce, sometimes accompanied with a hardboiled egg. No matter how much I search, I just can't find anything similar... 😝 But amazing video as usual! Missed your videos Gregory! I clicked immediately when I saw you uploaded today. 😄

Greg you make me so hungry and I cannot go there, my wife and I go to Singapore every year to eat at the hawker food centre's , we were going to Singapore this June but the international borders are stilled closed here in Australia and no time frame to be lifted as yet, but Singapore is also still closed for Australians, so Greg please do some more food video's to help me with my addiction to Hawker food.

Usually the soy sauce chilli is made with kicap manis, so it's closest to dark sauce maybe. My favourite Mee Soto is probably soto anika at hj waliti hj mazuki in Haig road!

So Greg, if I may ask, which hawker in your opinion has the best traditional Mee Rebus (which does not use dried shrimp in their sauce). Many thanks if you can make some suggestions. Thank you.

It has been a while. I guess you were locked up for a few months.😁 Do they make their own satay? I was told for hygene and quality control all satay is prduced by a handful of companies and all vendors buy factory prepared sticks. Maybe they do the marinade?

I think you need to study culinary more, Soto and Gado Gado that you ate are Indonesian food not malay. Gado Gado is Indonesian version of Salad.
@abdulkarimbinhassan6366
@abdulkarimbinhassan6366 3 года назад
It's a Singaporean Malay version of the Indonesian food mentioned.The local version's ingredients and spices usage are different from the Indonesian's version's.

FYI:Mee rebus is a unique Singaporean Malay food and it is suppose to be of Javanese origin but it can't be found or sold in Indonesia.

@@teddyanggono6788 I SAID!'Serupa tapi tak sama'.Mee rebus Singapore gravy recipe mainly from 'tauco' that's soya bean paste bro, whereas 'mee lendir' gravy is from groundnuts therefore it taste different.Similarity to our mee rebus is mee rebus Johor (Malaysia)Perhaps I can 'traktir' u a plate or two of our mee rebus at Haig Rd or Geylang Serai,bro😁
