Period point blank doing the inputs on a game like this or fighterz is 100x easier with an arcade stick or a button panel acting like it isn't is jus sad y'all really go out an spend 80 bucks an act like u did it bc u like it an not because it's easier an better lmfao
And also it’s important to know it’s ok to not be able to do things. I find it so weird that many who make excuses on why they aren’t good at a video game but wouldn’t dream of making the same excuses for not being able to do something like play a guitar, weld, be good at a sport. It’s perfectly normal not to be able to be great.
For so long I've been avoiding characters that I found cool in video games because I couldn't do their "hardest frame perfect impossible techs" and that was frustrating, but now I accepted the fact that it is normal and that those things are considered hard for a reason, and that is a relief ! So I totally agree with you !
I play tekken 7 a lot. Steve's my main and with life for me is now, without a lot of time to practice stuff, I resigned myself from learning shiro combo. Probably one, if not the hardest staple combo in t7. I just play with what I can do right now and it's been fun so far.
People just get mad whenever someone has an advantage over them, like their character or controller. We are adults now, noone has time for that. Pick a top tier grab a hitbox or stop complaining. Me, I'm lazy as fuck and I'm sticking to my wack characters and Sega pad. My loses are my own unwillingness to adapt.
@@freeizzy8395 it’s not that. It’s actually making the excuses in the first place. They wouldn’t make an excuse for someone being faster at running. Being better at the drums. Wallpapering. But for games they bring the book of excuses out.
@@Basin79 Those example have very little to do outside the person. Fighting games remind me of skateboarding were there are less and more optimal boards for different types of skating. You are at a disadvantage if you use a freestyle board for vert but that is the choice you made so you shouldn't get mad at the very skater being as optimal as possible. And I think people get mad when they hit a wall (even if they can improve) and hate on people who surpassed the wall using more optimal character, hardware, etc. To them it may feel like unearned progress so they complain and use "loyalty" to protect their ego. Give them some time and they will eventually accept themselves as is or chose to do better. They are probably mad young.
Having a competitor at your high level, squash scapegoating and talking truths is very refreshing. You're fun watch. I hope Oro or Rog makes it into SF6 for ya. Before SFV is completely done, I would totally love to watch you and Smug duke it out for the best Rog title. May the best boxer win!!
Can confirm, I switched to Hitbox a few months ago with the hopes of improving my game. All it showed me was that my fundamentals were severely lacking.
I sent this video to my friends who use stick that say my controller will always be inferior, even though I easily kick their ass constantly. “Yea but your skill will plateau and our ceiling is higher! “ they say.
I wonder what they refer to when they say you’re gonna plateau and their ceiling is higher, is there some super duper secret tech Stick has that other controllers don’t??
@@realchezboi their logic is that “thumbs, at the highest skill level, cannot match being able to use all fingers and/or wrist movement” or some crap 🙄 again, these are the same dudes who I’m constantly giving the beat downs so 🤷🏻♂️
This is why I play on my GameCube controller emulating keyboard inputs. Controller doesn’t matter unless you are the top 5 people in the world. Use what’s best for you
even then it likely doesn't matter as at high level players have good execution with whatever their preferred input is. Even on a hitbox some things are likely more difficult to execute than pad/stick
People fail to realize that a hitbox controller is basically a glorified keyboard so if you really think playing on a hitbox is cheating you might aswell switch to your keyboard lol.
@@garaktartv3647 I'm talking about the stick in the video. I assumed that's what you meant. I forgot they had pads that used buttons instead of a joystick.

You also dont need to know how to do these insane combos to win matches. I suck at doing combos but I still take games. People look for any excuse to blame something else for them losing lol. This hitbox debate needs to stop lol.
More often than not unless it is something like the combo in the video where it guarantees the stun, super long combos are more for flash not because they are actually optimal due to scaling, and will never make up for good fundamentals.
no kidding. I had someone tell me "they give you a free one-frame EWGF". they also tried telling me that you can block in both directions at the same time with them.
I just use both hitbox and stick since I'm more comfortable with one over the other in different situations. It's all preference at the end of the day!
I wish these video existed when I was learning how to play sf4. Don’t get me wrong there were videos, but these are just masterpieces with inputs and hand camera!
100%. People need to stop whining and start playing. People always make excuses for eeeeeverything. And now with controller/hitbox/stick options, everyone has even more excuses. Play on a remote if it suits you, makes no difference. If you learn it and are good, you are good. Simple. I play arcade stick. Not because its better. Not because its worse. Not because of the few advantages it has here or disadvantages there. But because I enjoy the feeling of it. For me stick is always so much fun. And that is all I need to play. Have fun. Everyone is so consumed by excuses, competition, comparisons, and ultimately the funniest of all, going pro and always pointing to that example. Most of you aint never going pro. Chillax already. Have fun people. Get good on whatever hardware tickles your fancy. Get good having fun. And enjoy matches with equally skilled people. That is what FGs should be. Its rather simple. Stop making it so confusing. It is not. As you get better, well, you will naturally land where you belong in the whole scene of things. And that is all there is to it. If you go pro in the end, you go pro. If you were never meant to go pro, you never wasted your time in the first place because you played to have fun and that is all that counts. Which brings us to the last point too. If you ain't having fun in a game and always btching and whining about everything in it...... maybe that game is not for you. That is ok. Stop wasting your time and find something you enjoy.
"some of the best players use default playstation controllers." "also bad players cry about the type of controller others use and claim theirs has a disadvantage rather than recognising their own skill issues"
Controller are all about comfort - I grew up with mainly consoles, so even when I tired using an arcade stick it just didn’t click. Ended up with a traditional controller that has 6 face buttons, and it just feels so natural to me
controller does affect the player. It's preference. Why do you think people buy different mouse? it's comfort. Same with this. Controller do make a BIG DIFFERENCE.
That’s not what he meant. The PS4 pad was mentioned specifically because some pros find it more comfortable or prefer it, what is meant is that the hitbox does not offer any substantial advantage to 99% of players where the priority concern should be practicing fundamentals in the game that exist on any controller type.
Guys I own a $400 hitbox-style controller with the fastest actuations possible. I still lose to people on controller. He’s right if you fundamentally suck you’ll just play like me. If anything pick the controller that ergonomically works for you.
My brain wants a ps4 pad and my thumb absolutely doesn't. I've got too much scar tissue to even feel if ive accidentally fat fingered up or down while trying to block the opposite. My stick has so much dust... returning to it after 15 years.
I play on Hitbox and am hardstuck on plat because the input device is a minor aspect. Same goes for Tekken. I may execute my EWGFs more consistently than on my stick but there are people who are infinitely more consistent on stick. And I am yellow rank. So who cares when I play Hitbox? Only idiots.
I love the obvious shade being thrown, also I don't play SF but I do play guilty gear strive, and I made it into celestial several times and I only use an Xbox One controller lol, controllers are simply just personal preference, all have pros and cons, but the best one is simply the one you're comfortable using
Something people forget is that hitbox control pads actually do make some playstyles and options possible that would be impossible on any arcade stick or controller, this is especially apparent when you face a charge character with a hitbox pad like Guile.
The only fighting game where controllers really matter is melee. The difference between a regular modded game cube controller and like a boxx or a phob is humongous and literally using a boxx can feel like cheating, coming from somebody who's modded there controller and has tried one of my friends boxx's and I actually think the better controllers make the game way more fun because it reduces jank, I just wish they were cheaper it's like 200-400 dollars for a truly good controller rn which really sucks ass. Even when I'm not playing card games the best card is the credit card lmao. So really the only problem is that they are exponentially more expensive than regular controllers like if there was a controller 80% good as a phob for 60$ I would pop off
We're all just pressing buttons man. If I whoop you with a hitbox one day, and then an off brand PS4 controller the next day, then why complain about the controller instead of aiming to improve.
Not playing fighting games because you can’t do a frame frame perfect combo is like not playing basketball cause you can’t make every half court shot. “Basketball would be fair if everyone could make half court shots, the skill floor is too high”
The funny thing is that if you give a hitbox to all the oblivious people who keep claiming that is a "cheatbox", they'll find out that they can't do any high execution combos cuz they're fucking trash lmao
The hitbox/keyboard has advantages and disadvantages. DPs are always going to feel better on pad and stick to me particularly with fast reactive DPs. 360s and 720s? Again, I prefer pad or stick for that, and you can shortcut the 360 all the same on pad anyway. Hitbox/keyboard is no auto win and it never will be, but charge motions and fireball inputs are inherently a bit cleaner. Ultimately, what are you the most comfortable with? That's going to really be the determining factor.
It's just mucle memory..I am 30 so I grew up in an arcade playing fighting games I have thousands of hours on a stick. I know people who got into fighting games. With this last gen of games like tekken7 and saw what I was doing and went out and bought a 200$ stick just to put it down because it literally made them lose 6 ranks and didn't put the time into it and went back to control
Complaining in the context of the original short is not even at the benefit of the complainers, they’re complaining about someone else using a certain controller, how is that anyway for THEM to get better?
In my opinion, whatever makes the player comfortable and having the most fun on. I had to relearn how to play fighting games again when I picked up a fightstick but I've never had more than any other controller
Hitbox does make a lot of execution easier in terms of motion inputs, but at this level, it seems more about timing and tight links than just being able to do a motion input easier.
I prefer hitbox bc it is a kinetic feeling. It is easier for my brain to think of things in finger presses probably bc of me playing keyboard for much more of my life. But I don't have a better chance of beating Punk bc he is on controller and Im on hitbox xD
Yea when people come over and find out I'm really into fighting games they always want to challenge me to something but as soon as they see my 4 arcade sticks it's like "nah you're cheating if you use that" dude I'm clapping you on both just run the set
