You can make beautiful homemade cold process soap and other cosmetics with common garden weeds. This soap tutorial shows how we used dandelion seeds and fdandelion lowers to create plant silk and also as natural soap color.
The dandelion has incredible natural properties and I discuss some of its uses in cosmetics inside the video plus is an excellent plant to forage as every part of it can also be eaten.
If you want to try it out yourself the recipe is:
DANDELION SOAP RECIPE
100g coconut oil
150g palm oil
250g olive oil
69g sodium hydroxide
150g distilled water
10 dandelion seed heads
15 dandelion flower heads

I made the dandelion soap with fuzz, seeds and dehydrated yellow flower pedals. I used my go to soap recipe plus added 1 teaspoon of sugar. I used it for the first time today it is awsome. Very silky feeling lather. I think this could become my favorite soap. It is awesome feeling. Thank you for sharing your video

God bless you Sarah. I was pulling out dandelions yesterday evening and throwing them in the bin whilst muttering to myself how they were popping up everywhere. Now I know I can collect them, and use them in my soap. I’m so grateful to you. Thank you precious lady. 🥰 You are an absolute treasure!

I picked dandelions the other day and dried them in my oven. I dried the heads, some just the pedals, and some just the stems. I currently have them sitting on my soaping table waiting for me to be less lazy and get to work. 🤣

I LOVE the soap and the flower dehydrator... I haven't it in my country. Latin soaps lovers do everything with our hands or our relatives... 😀 But, I use achiote seeds, to achieve a very strong yellow color, and it also has skin benefits.

I've been wanting to make a dandelion soap for a long time now since every spring my yard is loaded with them. I've seen recipes where they made a tea with the green leaves of the dandelions and used that for the water part of the recipe. The soap turned out a nice light green colour. I like the yellow colour of your soap, looks awesome. I'm going to try it next spring when the dandelions start popping up again.

Your dandelion soap is lovely! I never considered putting the seed heads into the lye solution! I will have to try that this year. It won't be long before our dandelions start to bloom here in Northern Ontario, Canada. I make a dandelion soap as well. I love it, it's one of my favourites. I make a dandelion tea and use that as my water replacement for my lye solution. I also use dandelion infused olive oil. I colour with french yellow clay, so those who use it also have the benefit of the clay for their skin. Then I put dehydrated petals on top of my soap. I typically fragrance it with tea tree and lemon essential oils. My family and customers who have severe acne problems love it, because it has helped clear up the visible acne for many of them.

You would need to use a soap calculator if you change the oils. Different oils need different amounts of lye.

Hi Slavica, You are correct, I melt the solid fats then add the liquid oils at room temperature. I then add the hot lye in which balances the temperature to normal levels again but it speeds up the whole process :)
