Genuinely so sick and tired of the "furries think they're animals" thing, and I'm not even a furry. It's like looking at someone who likes to knit and saying they identify as a ball of yarn
i remember watching a trixie mattel video and she said something like "if somebody dresses up as a pirate on halloween, does it mean they hate themselves and they want to be a pirate?" and that perfectly exemplifies how stupid conservatives are about both furries and drag queens
My favorite part of these shows is how they overestimate how sensitive the "woke left" is so much that the extent of their "offensive" humor is just "Look! A trans person!(insert laugh track here)"
They’ll get offended when there’s a trans character even if that’s what people were asking for. Remember when Baymax the tv series a spin off of Big Hero 6 came out?
At a certain point we as “lefties” know the old tired jokes. It’s not offensive in the sense that it makes us angry or insults us, because it’s so… creatively bankrupt and tedious. It gives my brain the same absence of humor as the “orange you glad I didn’t say banana?” joke that every 5 year old knows. South Park is funny. Family Guy can be funny. Brandon Rogers is funny. King of the Hill is funny. None of these “conservative animated comedy series” are funny. It’s just.. blah.
A safe space to be a bigot without being cancelled I guess. Regardless, conservatives make no sense and they are just liberals at the end of the day except openly racist.
It's such a double thing. I don't believe in safe spaces but if you get one I get one(to be openly racist) on. If you are oppressed I too am oppressed.
An Ojibwe teacher pal of mine told me that when she tried speaking out about how the district was appropriating her culture without actually understanding it, she was ostracized as a troublemaker because the district only wanted lip-service to Native Americans. For a while, they just had other people of color (not Native Americans), teach students and staff about Native American practices. Specifically, the concept of circle discussions and their purposes, among other things. Then the district had the gall to complain about having no Native American teachers, when in actuality, they were pushing them out.
@@the-postal-dude I can only imagine 😭 It's easier to defend yourself against stuff that's openly aggressive, people can just call you sensitive for more casual aggressions smfh

@@greg6500lol it’s not hard to do. It’s why the right wing media grift is so easy to exploit. You can just make shit up to make them mad and they’ll throw $ at you.
You just KNOW that theyre gonna chop up all the hate of the show as "succeeding in triggering the liberals", even though NOBODY on either side finds it funny. As a trans person i was not offended by a single joke, but the cringe it caused me almost triggered me into cardiac arrest.
LITERALLY I laughed the whole time though I’ll tell you that (laughter of immaturity and enjoyment in the cringe) being trans and watching transphobic things is funny to me I don’t know why 😭
literally the _only_ reason im mad is because they claim to be “the new South Park” when I know damn well they could NEVER live up 2 the amount of skill and dedication that Matt and Trey have as writers,,(I am also nd and hyperfixing on sp rn so that prob also adds to it😍)
it's so tired, its not even creative. Too cringe to even make fun of. They redrew the All in the Family living room and tried to make an Archie Bunker character, missing the point of the original show. I remember that as an old.
i think it's funny as fuck that the new norm hates trans people changing their pronouns but respects twitter being called x now (sorry your house flooded kurtis hope it's all good)
i have so many headcanons for the characters in these stupid conservative shows. for exmaple, one is that norm was previously a drag queen in the 80s but tries to distance himself from it whatsoever because of toxic masculinity
South Park has already perfected the “making fun of both sides” formula. The issue is these “make comedy legal again” people behind Mr Birchum and New Norm is that they want the license to make fun of liberals and lgbt and ‘woke’ stuff *without* turning that same lens back on themselves.
these people made the most badass nonbinary character design of 2024 and expected the queers to Not go crazy over it?? Chaz's hair matches their earrings matches their mask. This is peak queer fashion
@@dorongrossman-naples9207 this is a grave insult to Picrew, i would say they're pretty cute for a character that looks like they were made with GoAnimate
A competent writer needs to come along and make a show as abysmal of an agenda as this, and then halfway through turns into existential horror, the characters realizing theyre stereotypes being puppeteered by higher political interests beyond their reality, attempting to break free from their radical right programming.
Another ridiculous thing with the cartoon that they kinda skim over: Norm DID threaten the school board. And while the average audience for this might agree with the ideology that led him to doing so, making serious threats is still a crime. So yeah, it’s not exactly surprising he’s on house arrest if he was threatening the lives of actual people
Like they don’t specify what exactly he threatened but based on my own experiences with school board meetings and what I’ve seen on the news (as well as the type of character Norm seems to be) threatening some type of violence doesn’t seem out of the question which again would justify the house arrest response
Norm is basically a domestic torrerist... hiwwawious! It's funny because he's a grown adult who isn't allowed to go near schools... like, that's the joke, that's their joke, that's the type of person they want everybody to aspire to be
Why the frick did this anti-woke cartoon make a non binary character so cool? I feel like the writers don't even know what their supposed to be making fun of.
the only thing i’ll criticize about their character is that nonbinary people usually have really cool style, they kind of walk around in a potato sack but whatever floats their boat
The interpretation is either that Chaz stopped being allergic to the dog because it was an emotional support dog or because it was a fellow non-binary. Either way, it's really dumb.
Headcannon for this shitty show Chaz is allergic to dogs, and was going to ask them to keep it outside the house, but decided to put up with it since it's an emotional support animal
The premis of the New Norm show reminds me of a homophobic propaganda video from Russia "Гей на передержке" that went viral over Russian internet a while ago. It basically was "If you don't vote, any other president will allow a random gay guy live rent free with you". The funny part is that even in our homophobic environment this thing was ridiculed and mocked as an abomination of a concept. And years later these guys make an animated show about it.
am i the only person who can see its CLEARLY satire? i’m literally trans and gay and it’s clearly not meant to be offensive toward us it’s more like “look how absolutely dumb yall look when you act like this when it literally doesn’t effect you”
Idk if it got lost amongst the rest of the nonsense for other people but it stood out to me that in the new norm they made the choice to say men and then girls instead of saying men/women or boys/girls.
Why are people so mad when other people actually feel comfortable to express themselves and to become the person they feel is right? Like why are people so pressed????
I always wonder if there’s an element of jealousy or resentment that they feel they’ve not been allowed to be themselves to that extent and have fit themselves into the “box” society has assigned them, and so everyone should.
@@stjoco It can be the case for a part of them. And there can be any other case for other parts. Or it can be one of the reasons that are mixed together. So of course it is possible.

If they showed that pilot to any actual network, they would be rejected so fucking hard. It seems like it was made by 9 year olds whose dads left on FOX.
It’s not Kurtis’s responsibility to talk about Cody like people have said. But as a former collaborator with Cody, it IS weird. I just don’t see how hard it is just to say “that’s disgusting, I can’t believe I ever collabed with the guy” and move on. Like especially when other collaborators have said something (like Hasan!). Or even people who haven’t, like Jarvis Johnson. Kurtis is VERY outspoken about sexism and misogyny so it does come across as weird or awkward if he ignores it. For some people, it’s enough that he quietly unfollowed and deleted his collab video *and that’s okay*!! BUT! It’s *also* okay if it’s not enough for others and want a clear statement where he stands. Much love to Kurtis, I hope he’s doing okay and hope his house gets fixed soon ❤ just wanted to explain why people might feel weird (like me) about him not saying anything.
good take, personally im gonna wait it out to see if he says anything because his videos take time and lots of editing (or he'll write something somewhere idk) i dont wanna jump to conclusions yet but thats just me though
I totally agree, I hope he listens to Jarvis and Jordan’s recent podcast because they explain really well why they feel even though it’s ultimately Cody’s responsibility, it’s important for them to say at least something. I totally have empathy for how hard it must be to be somewhat forced into this controversy when they did nothing except collaborate with a man who’s given a betrayal of his real character. But that’s the issue - Cody’s audience and presumably collaborators thought he was an advocate for women and against misogyny, and now it’s making the audiences of all these guys question if they’re legitimate. They’ve talked the talk, now they need to walk the walk.
Who cares if he says anything or not? He’s not the arbiter of objective morality, he’s a comedian it’s not his job to condemn every bad thing someone does
For further context, the only other wounded president was Ronald Reagan but he was shot AFTER the election. The role it had in his election 3 years later can't really be determined given the gap between events. So of the 2 examples we only have Theodore and Ronald to look at, and I think Theodore is the closest to what we can look at. If we want to go to attempts on the president overall, then a majority had no impact on a following election or it was the final term of the president. There is no real correlation between someone being attacked and their election outcome that we can look at.
If we just want to go to attempts overall where the president was not hit, majority of them happened in a presidents final term or well after the election. So overall there appears to be no real collation
if i'm honest, as a non binary person myself, i think this whole situation is hilarious lol. But i won't lie that i did feel bothered by the way the main character's daughter looked at the nb character. When people look at me like that or act like i'm such a phenomenon and they're that fucking hyped about my gender when i'm just existing... just fuck off, treat me like a person yknow. Which is funny because i'm pretty sure that was the opposite of what they were trying to achieve XD they try to offend us in a way and in contrast they actually portray a real life behavior that does need to be criticized
this is so funny because they have more trans representation, if it can even be called that, than most shows ever. do they realize how fucking ironic that is?

Would’ve been a good time to address the Cody Ko allegations since you’ve worked with him in the past and other commentary RU-vidrs like Jarvis Johnson both strongly supported Hana on Twitter and on his podcast. Jarvis didn’t even work with Cody and he still felt obligated to make his stance on the issue clear so if he felt that obligation, I feel like you should definitely feel it too. The way Hana has been harassed by Cody’s supporters is fucking gross and Cody’s complete silence while posting more content continuously on his second channel is also super gross. This is why it’s important for people to state that they support the victim, not the fucking rapist. Idk if you’re actually friends with Cody but the fact is that he’s a rapist and you are both strongly connected in terms of your community and you’ve also directly worked with each other.
Kurtis, I know you’re not the one at fault here in the situation, but speaking up or saying anything about Cody is the right thing to do. I realize it will cause discourse for you, maybe even a situation you don’t want to open, but not saying anything or pretending not to know is only hurting victims, accusation true or not. This is not an attack on your character, it’s just asking for someone to say something from ‘the group’ of commentary RU-vidrs we know you share with Cody

It's not like he really has to, they're not even friends and he's not involved in the situation. But still, I expect better from our mayor.
@@redduck6707 It's about setting a positive example. The eerie silence of the boys club that is the commentary genre is kinda weird, which is one of the reasons why D'Angelo Wallace even made his video in the first place. And Kurtis, with his large platform and a majority female audience, could at the very least critique Cody's silence on the matter. It doesn't even have to be a video, a Tweet or Instagram story would be enough. Just something instead of nothing.
The reason that conservative comedy falls flat is because it is essentially just complaining; every "joke" is just a grievance they have with the world, then they try to spin that grievance into something funny. The problem is that they get so excited about people agreeing with them about the complaint being valid that they forget to put effort into the actual joke aspect, so it usually resorts to hack bits like low hanging fruit or saying something "crazy" for shock value. I still believe that there is a way to do conservative comedy well, it just takes actual talent and effort that none of these people have unfortunately.
Hey Kurtis, are you going to comment on the Cody Ko allegations at some point? Would appreciate your voice weighing in on an issue with misogyny in the commentary youtube circles
