There are so many F1 podcasts and RU-vid channels I follow I can barely keep up with them, but it continues to amaze me that you are my go to source for everything related to IndyCar. You’re it, one guy. It’s a testament to the great job you do, but it’s wild to me that you’re really the only one.
Indycar should work with or align with Super Formula/Super GT GT500 on engine regs. At least Toyota could join, Honda already makes them, and Nissan could join. Dallara could make a chassis to handle the V6 and I4 to keep GM. It keeps costs low.
I suggested on one of your PCs a few weeks ago that we should have a DL hospitality tent at some of the races. I was really talking about a couple of Walmart pop-up canopies, some jam, beer, and maybe some brats, just for your subscribers. I would pitch in.
Honda is also RUMORED to go to NASCAR. Also, with the Camaro gone, GM has yet to announce it's replacement in NASCAR - speculation that it will be a Cadillac.
@@kharnthebetrayer1575Honda has already told NASCAR that they refuse to make a Pushrod V8 engine, or at least that's what has been reported by a few places. That's another hurdle for them to get past.
@@AJSELL9948 probably going to hear something soon of what's replacing the Camaro... They're not going to promote a car that's no longer being manufactured and no longer being sold at dealerships.
Honestly I don’t watch much Indy and Nascar, but I think GM should acquire a small minority in Andretti, it would basically be what Mopar is for Dodge and it would still be semi-independent. Plus this would probably influence FIA and F1 to get them a team because they already want Cadillac to enter without Andretti
7:05 You should make a video explaining the whole situation along with what charters are and why people want and dont want them and all that. I dont know anything about any of it
Is this why Corey LaJoie got kicked out!? I can't see Andretti wanting a nobody like him, there's been rumors Kyle Busch will leave RCR for Spire, Michael Andretti almost had a deal together with Dodge to put Kurt his brother in a car with Andretti Autosport, so Kyle Busch, Andretti and Spire makes a ton of sense.
Love the video but seems to contradict MPs mailbag article. Doubt Chevy would produce more engines on top of providing engines for Prema. Plus Andretti has a contract to run through 2025 with Honda.
With all of this talk about Andretti entering NASCAR & their desire to enter every major racing series in the world, I am very surprised that there hasn't been talk about them entering the WRC (World Rally Championship), the NHRA or even MotoGP 3 major series that they aren't involved in currently. In my view, an Andretti Global team in any of those 3 series would instantly be competitive & in the case of the WRC would raise the popularity of rally racing in the US. Apart from the years that SPEED Channel showed extended highlight shows in the early 2000's, the WRC has really struggled to gain a foothold over the US motorsport landscape & bringing in Andretti as a new team along with a US Rally would really help the WRC in terms of breaking into the biggest car market in the world. As it relates to the possible GM-Andretti partnership, the NHRA in addition to NASCAR would definitely try to bring Andretti in if that happened as a way of bringing another major name into their series following the addition of Tony Stewart a few years ago. Lastly when it comes to MotoGP, Andretti going there would further raise the profile of that series in the US given the fact that there is already an American team in the series via Trackhouse.
There’s been some rumblings in the NASCAR world about a new manufacturer entering the fray, what about Andretti/Spire becoming a Honda entry in NASCAR?
I'm very intrigued as to where does Andretti go when it comes to manufacturer. If the switch to Chevy and also use Chevy engines in NASCAR, they won't be a tier 1 team not even tier 2 as Chevy already has teams set up in this hierarchy and its very unlikely they would drop any of them for a new team. Now if they stay with Honda, They have expressed interest coming into NASCAR so Andretti could be the tier 1 team for Honda but this would be in the long run, I wouldn't see it happening until 2027 at minimum.
I'm an outsider here. But it seems to me that neither Chevy or Honda really want to provide engines to Indycar teams. In other series, manufacturers want as may cars as possible racing their equipment. In Indycar, they want as few as possible.
I think if MSR goes into a CGR alliance, and Andretti stays with Honda. Andretti will still be the #2 in Hondas camp. The marketing and name proweris is still there. The only team moving up the pecking order is MSR jumping RLL.
I always found it weird the CGR ran GM in IMSA, but Honda in Indycar. Same with Andretti running Honda in Indycar and trying to get GM behind them for F1.
Well I mean, Penske runs Ford in Nascar, but Chevy in Indycar. Yes, Ford isn't in indycar (they should be tho) but still. Penske also runs Porsche in IMSA/WEC. It's not all that uncommon actually
Honda and GM seem to have a more friendly rivalry in Motorsport and don’t seem too fussed about that stuff. The Ford thing in Australia is weird, though.
@@andrewsurowiec80 And Porsche in IMSA. And both Andretti and Penske have Formula E entries. Also, the Chevy IndyCar (Ilmor) engine is completely different than the NASCAR Chevy.
Jota Sport do have Two entries in WEC Hypercars. The number 38 (Jenson Button, Phil Hanson, Oliver Rasmussen) and 12 (Callum Ilott, Norman Nato, Will Stevens) .
I’d be more excited to see Andretti in formula one, but the way that series is corrupted and the attack of politics those power mongers would be on the I’m almost glad he’s not. What made me sick the most was F1 said his name wasn’t big enough lololol, their blinded ego maniacs. You can’t even think of any form of racing and not know or think the name Andretti, I think their afraid even right out of the gait Michaels team would be mid pack above teams that have been there for many years already, including haas
It would make total sense they would align fully with GM while keeping everyone under the same roof! I am thinking GM is bringing in Cadillac in to replace the Camaro's and I see Andretti making a full NASCAR move with GM the same time as they possibly bring in their Cadillac brand in to replace the Camaro's.
Maybe MSR's potential technical partnership switch to CGR has something to do with the fact that MSR is co-owned by Liberty Media, what series do they own the commercial rights to? F1! Who are Liberty trying to block from entering? Andretti Global! What team does MSR have a technical partnership with? Andretti Global! It seems that Liberty and particularly Greg Maffei didn't realise this until now
So how's the mythical Cadillac F1 engine development coming along, assuming Andretti still have aspirations of joining F1 in 2028+? Given the recent news about Renault/Alpine potentially ceasing development of their 2026 engine and becoming a Mercedes customer team. If F1 had accepted a 2026 Andretti entry then I wonder what options Andretti would have had for 2026 and 2027?
They should get rid of the requirement for manufacturer badged engines, Judd, Cosworth, and Gibson (not the guitar maker) all build racing engines and would be more eager to join than Ford or Toyota.
Anyone get the sense that they're simply trying to do too much at once? Indycar is their "core" series, but over the balance of the last several years, they've probably been the 3rd best team. Haven't really challenged for a championship in I don't know how long, as it's been a Penske/Ganassi show. Don't they want to become perennial title threats in Indycar before branching out into other series like NASCAR and F1, where they'd likely be running mid-pack or towards the rear for a while? I guess I get it, a big OEM wants you to rep them somewhere, and you do it. They now have the facilities for it all, but you just wonder if too many balls in the air is costing focus? Would appear that not everyone can compete at the top end across multiple disciplines like Penske can.
Not really because in most of the series they run in, they're a partner. In IMSA they're partnered with Wayne Taylor Racing, in Supercars it's Walkinshaw Andretti United, Extreme E is partnered with Altawkilat, SuperCopa is with Jourdain Motorsports, and if they go to NASCAR they'll partner with Spire Motorsports. Their IndyCar and Formulaa E program are the only things they run 100% in house with F1 to come later.
Why would anyone care about who is number 1 or 2 at the engine manufacturer? I thought the engine lease price was set and that everyone gets the same engines.
Chevy doesn't seem like they want to "compete" against their own brands. That's why in IMSA the GT3 cars are under the Chey badge and the Prototype cars are under the Cadillac brand. They are probably afraid it could make one brand name look worse than the other.
Rob Edwards on Racer has confirmed they're staying with Honda until their contract is up in 2025. Afterwards is anyone's guess. In that same Racer mailbag, Chevy says they're filled up with PREMA incoming next year and has no extra production to support any more full time teams. We're not going to know anything until this time next year on if Honda continues with IndyCar or if the 2027 "new car" rumor is true.
i havent seen a gainbridge/ 1001 sticker on a WAU car yet, they might be a part of the sale of that take in the race team though. andrettis presence in that team doesn't seem like much at all from the outside tbh
@@EdJoras well that would be a disaster, but there has been no suggestion Chevy is leaving. But Honda has been dropping hints for two years. I've wondered if part of this had anything to do with the Honda to NASCAR rumors - though those have cooled a lot. so maybe they'll stick with IndyCar. To be fair, the great new media deal might give all of the sponsors and suppliers a reason to stay in IndyCar.
Yes you can forget about the 2028 Olympics, it's 2026 and the FIFA World Cup (June 11 to July 19) for which Fox are the host broadcaster that's likely going to seriously mess up the IndyCar schedule.
hondas indy car engine contract ends after the 2026 season. if they are leaving. maybe they want to go all chevy for all their teams. michael andretti always said they wanted to get into nascar but it would happen after the f1 team. if honda is leaving why sign a one year contract. if they do leave all the teams engines will in chevy some how with honda just doing electronics and placing a honda sticker on the engine.
...you mean how F1 has been regulated since 2014, where everyone is basically running the same type of engine. The only difference being the name on the cylinder head covers...
i like that Citgo diecast you got there. Is that Dale Jerret or Morgan Shepeard? =) My younger brother liked Morgan Shepeard when we were young and he's git that 21 citgo diecast just like the one you got there.
Really wish we could have some talk on Horsepower out put, potetial chassis updates etc. David you keep blabbling about the same shit! Teams switching to chevy or vise versa. Who gives a crap!!! BOOOOOOORRRRRING
David wants more manufacturers like the rest of us, Ferrari was just a bluff, Porsche said no due to no hybrid, Ford wants nothing to do with it, Dodge makes no sense and said no to NASCAR so why would they race in IndyCar?! We desperately need another manufacturer or even 2 more, more engines for bump day, and less likely to hurt the series if one leaves...but Champ Car made due with a single supplier late split era as did the Indy Racing League from 2006-2011.
I'm starting to hate Spire Motorsports more & more! - Fakest Cup win ever not won by a Mega-Baddie ever - Marco Andretti in NASCAR why? - Hires a racist for the Truck team - Fakest Truck win ever - Dumping Corey Lajoie & the popular belief now is it's because Kyle Busch got mad at him... but now with Michael Andretti involved makes ot more sus - Now the Michael Andretti stuff ramps up
