This Could Be Your LAST Chance To Buy The Honda CBR600RR: But SHOULD You? Here Are The Pros & Cons!

In this video, Alex reviews a bit of a strange bike in the Honda CBR600RR. Why is it strange? There is a newer version of this middleweight sport bike, but while the Japanese market CBR600RR launched in late 2020, America still gets the older version - at least for now. With this class more or less dying off, we may not get the new version at all, so this may be your last chance if you're shopping for a new bike in this class.

Just bought mine and had to ride about 125 miles nonstop to get it home. Definitely this bike cruises at around the 5 to 6k rpm highway speeds. Amazing thing is when you start to go over 7k rpm. That's when you feel the race genetics kicking in. Absolutely fun.

I just bought a 2020 left over CBR600RR. No difference between the 2021 except the color. You are right, most of the test reports show a model that never made it to the states. Funny thing is though, I bought the CBR because it was the most comfortable sport bike for me. I am 6'1", have 37" arms, and wear a 36" inseam, and I am the most comfortable on this bike than any other sport bike. I have ridden it between 200 and 300 miles, so far with just stopping for gas, and a meal at the end of my second ride. I don't feel my wrists or shoulders like all the other 600's which were very uncomfortable for me. The bike is unusually stable at 100 mph on the freeway in high winds. Which is a huge plus. I do not like the color, so I ordered a complete painted kit that is honda red, with a black belly and a couple sticker kits, so I will be getting tomorrow, an all new color plastic set, which is the color I wanted. I like the dual personality. I can ride with cruisers at 5-7K rpms, and at 9 and above, it screams in on the street and in the corners. Love to gas it in the corners and drive sane on the straights. Keeps down the tickets, and having lots of fun. I have very strong wrists and shoulders, from working out and riding dirt bikes all my life, so I may be unique in my critique.

@@kevin1314ify I can't get my head around the 27K price tag, wish I knew the reasoning behind it. It's sad for us Aussies, CBR is priced not to sell, GSX-R doesn't exist anymore and they also discontinued the R6. Kawasaki is the only one offering a 600cc supersport. Not a fan of all these single/twin cylinder engines which seems to be the way it's heading now.

I'm Buying them! I purchased the Aprilia RS 660 December 2021 and have ridden it all year without any problems, and love the bike; it is the perfect bike for both street and track and I ride both street and track as well as in the hood. I'm now looking to purchase a Honda 2023 or 2024 CBR 600 RR; and I'm hoping BMW gets in on the 600 bandwagon and brings out there offering for both a street and track bike - if they do I'm buying that also. These bikes are only "uncomfortable" if you're out of shape and don't know how to sit on them and tense up and so on. If you tense up yes you'll feel pressure on wrists and back, if you clinch tank with core and your upper body is super relaxed they're not that bad even for longer rides. They aren't "comfortable" don't get me wrong... but they don't "hurt" either unless tensing/positioned poorly and not conditioned for riding.

Had an '07 CBR600RR. Rode street and tracked it (Summit). Agree with everything you said Alex. Wonderful bike, very flickable with great handling. Can't believe that in 2021 Honda hasn't added modern electronics with ABS and an IMU to the 600RR. Doesn't look like Honda changed it in the 14 years of production from my '07.

I am just getting back into the street bike game after a 20 year break. In 2024, the 600RR was the only choice for me. Regardless of CCs, the 600RR is easily the best looking supersport/superbike bike on the sales floor. Dual headlights, UNDERTAIL EXHAUST, Honda RIDE RED colors, black swingarm, black frame, gold upside down forks, and the 12-spoke wheels are easily the best looking wheels out there. Honda CBR600s have a history of: -- being the easiest bikes to ride fast as they are very forgiving bikes. -- ultra reliable. CBRs can easily go 100k miles, and there is even a CBR 600 out there that reached 300k. -- the easiest bikes to work on -- the bikes to hold up in a crash the best In addition, with a 12 year run (2013-2024), we know there is a lot of aftermarket support and spare parts available. The 2024 600RR has the same engine since 2007, which means the insides have a 17 year run. I myself love it how the 2024 600RR in the USA, is the exact same bike as the 2013-2023 600rr's, because I think these bikes look the best. I am not a big fan of the looks of the newer Gen-6 600RR, don't like the way the headlights look, and don't like the winglets. I also do NOT like all the extra fancy doo-dads the Gen-6 600RR has. When it comes to Supersport or Superbike Motorcycles, I am old school. I like to keep it simple. I can't ever see myself having a bike with a digital tachometer and has an Ipad for the "dashboard". I also don't need ABS, traction control, quick shifters, slipper clutches, and multiple ride modes. Simple also means less likely to break, because the more doo-dads a bike has, the more likely one of those doo-dads is likely to break. I also considered an R1 and CBR1000RR, but Liter Bikes are kinda boring to ride on the street and on the track. You can just leave them in 2nd gear and can keep the revs low. Heck, with a Liter Bike, you can even be 2 gears to high and still properly power out of a turn, no way with a 600 you can do that. With 600s, you have to wind up the motor to like 9k rpm or above to get them moving. I just love the way we have to wind up the 600 engine to get it to work. All the power numbers people brag about are really insignificant, even on the race track all that power is mostly insignificant as there are few guys who can beat me with a more powerful bike. I use to race these things, and I will tell you it is always 99% rider. I use to get trophies racing in the 1000cc class with my 600s (both F4, and a couple of R6s). My advice is BUY THE BIKE that YOU THINK LOOKS THE BEST! and like I said above and will say again, the CBR 600RR is easily the best looking superbike and supersport bike on the sales floor. Dual headlights, UNDERTAIL EXHAUST, Honda Red Ride colors, black swingarm, black frame, gold upside down forks, and the 12-spoke wheels are easily the best looking wheels out there.

In the UK the insurance is about the same as a 1000cc gas mileage not too far apart. Yes you got it uncomfortable I am 6' 2'' and busted my back racing off-road, so no sports bike's a naked is good, I have a 1988 Yamaha VMX 1200cc highly modified, so comfortable along with a Teneree 700 and had a Ducati Monster so the new one is worth a look as I do several 200mile trips a week and like to be comfortable on these but what is it like two up, you could do with a two up cattorgory when reviewing them as a lot of us go two up either for work or weekends away.

I own the 2017 red/black/white model which is the last model year before they discontinued it in Europe and Japan. I have over 14k miles on it and have never had a single hiccup with her other then the kick stand switch malfunctioning once. I can attest to the bike being very smooth and stable at 100mph and above. I’ve personally hit mine as high as 151mph and she didn’t vibrate or feel shaky in the slightest. The suspensions very nice and the HESD (Honda electronic steering dampener) gives the rider a huge amount of confidence. Honda’s dampener is a huge reason I went with a CBR. Because I knew it also adjusts according to your speed and I love having that extra piece of mind against tank slappers. My only gripe is pretty much what’s been said in the video. It would be nice to get little more hp but more then that I would love to see this bike finally get the electronic upgrades it deserves like the Japan edition. It’s sad us diehard CBR600 guys can’t at least get a limited or special edition model with it when pretty much every other sport bike offered in the USA has had it available for years. I’m hoping Honda will hear our cries and finally give us what we been waiting for because it’s the only thing holding me back from buying a 2022. Share the upgrades with America and Europe Honda! It’s not fair! Oh and maybe you could offer more then just one single color option? Like, maybe 4? The stock color, a white version, blacked out version. Then i dunno.. maybe a freakin repsol version so ppl can stop spending $700 on aftermarket repsol fairing kits and actually have oem? We’re waiting Honda.

The only thing this bike successfully accomplishes is looking like it came out of time machine set to 2002. Cheap plastic bodywork, everything that isn't red is a sticker- no paint accents. Honda is absolute bottom tier in the supersport game.

600 are dying what would be next cause there’s no way it’s 300s

The actual reason supersports are dying is because of increasing demands in emissions. The EU is super progressive when it comes to reducing emissions, which is why European countries are the first ones to lose out on 600s. The Yamaha R7 was introduced in hopes that it could still be sold as a "supersport" but also meet future harsh emission standards.

the bike is beautiful.....everything except the FAT head. ugly af. that's the only thing that is turning me off from upgrading from my 2019 500r But why the FK would any maker delete the 600 from their lineup? 600 is a freaking sweet bike, and has so much power, and 1000 is overkill and people get wrecked or dead on those. they don't turn as well either. I dearly miss my 2018 orange/black 600rr. so sad i was in a horrible place at the time and had to sell it for 5k back in 2012. ugh. the orange/black was amazing. Thankfully the 500r I got brand new for 2019 looks gorgeous. Beautiful bike for a starter/vet
