I just did a massive closet cleanup yesterday, and a few weeks ago, I selected a lot of my makeup to offer to friends who expressed interest in looking through my makeup. I feel so much lighter rn, and I’m glad I’ve found ways to declutter without triggering another shopping binge
The impractical shoes!!!! I have impractical shoe tastes, but middle aged knees and ankles. I will never stop craving heels, platforms, straps, buckles and allllll the wild things.
SUMMER SHOES ARE IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME. I’m a geriatric millennial who needs arch support, wider than normal but not wide width, and cushy heels. Thanks plantar fasciitis. I live in Chicago with no car so I walk a lot. Birkenstocks give the bottoms of my feet blisters, most other walking sandals are not cute, and I get weird gross calluses everywhere. But my toes want to be free. As an Old, I shake my head at the cute young things running around in their Old Navy flippies and super flat slides. Their turn will come and their feet will hurt too.
I'm too much of a lesbian not to love practical shoes! And ugly shoes. Gen Z trends really cater to that preference of mine 😊 Also yes, shoes definitely have the same labor abuses as clothing, but a lot of the big tennis shoes brands abuse their workforce and still charge consumers high prices (eg Nike). Opie Way produces shoes in the US 100%, and New Balance sells "made in the US" shoes that are 70% produced here. Obviously that's still not ideal, but it's better than most! (And yes, even with the US's labor issues, manufacturing here is much more protective of worker safety and wages than manufacturing abroad. Although maybe there are international brands that produce in their countries of incorporation.)
The "don't look, there's a hot person" glance to the camera really did something to me that I was not prepared for. 🤣🤣 As a borderline spinster, that was a exciting lol!
Buying shoes online from brands you haven't shopped before is so brave honestly, feels like so many just do not fit correctly! I relate to suddenly realizing a need for summer shoes though, I'm such a fall fashion girlie and I only ever want to buy booties - then I get invited to something and realize my only sandals are some beat-to-shit flip flops
Had that lipstick in a bold red. The lipstick by itself will vanish in less than an hour without that balm. The balm really is the magic. I wish they would sell it separately because it would give leneige a run for their money- least in my book. PLUS that balm always smelled so good to me. It was def an OG liquid lip from 2010. What a summer. What. A. Time.
Those Covergirl liquid lips carried me through many a party in college! One of my unpopular makeup opinions is preferring that type of liquid lip with the balm barrier if I actually need lasting power over the normal liquid lip. And omg, the need for practical shoes with age has been a struggle! I went from a heels and platforms only ages 14-22 and am now living in fieyues and other zero drop sneakers for my day to day.
I hate buying tennis shoes too...I'm a true Midwesterner, I buy my athletic shoes from the Outlet stores 😂 because they DO get run down so fast 12:44 LMAO "don't look at that hot person" I'm the exact same way, I can't help but swing my head around dramatically 😂😂😂
Tom: “I can’t see anyone thinking this is their favorite mascara” Coincidentally this mascara IS MY FAV 😂 Because I use it as a lash curl fixer thanks to having the straightest lashes After a thin coat of this one I layer any other non waterproof one on top bc i really need the waterproofness for the curl holding
EEEEE this kind of lip jazz is frightening. Gives me horrible flashbacks to the early 00s trying to scrub crusty old Revlon Colorstay from my mouth the mornings after. I'm content reapplying my normal lipstick. RE: shoes -- I'm NOT fashionable. My feet accept only Chaco sandals over 60 degrees. How the youngsters wear giant Doc Marten boots in summer BAFFLES me. I'll begrudgingly put on my Saucony sneakers if I must (gym, or certain days at work when I know things are gonna get rough). Your hair looks fantastic!
I’ve been buying $100+ shoes for most of my adult life 😆 not willing to be uncomfortable for fashion’s sake! My sneaker style tip is to look for something monochrome or solid with a single accent color. That tends to make it look less like you’re headed to the gym. Also - Hoka are fancy but doesn’t fit my feet, right now I swap between Altra for actually walking/hiking and Onitsuka Tigers for when I want to feel cute.
Omg I'm on a practical shoe journey rn too & I strongly dislike sneakers! I need them tho. I'm caught between the hoka speedgoat 5 in a few colorways & the puma x Melo... But I have v wide feet so I'm always reluctant to buy sneakers, especially without trying them on.
I also hate shoe shopping as I have to try everything on. I'm in between sizes so depending on the shoe I could be 8 1/2 or a 9. Also, yes! I remember shoes being less expensive. I'm also going to be investing in new sneakers soon and I'm not looking forward to it.
fun fact - most people that think they have flat feet don't actually; they might appear that way to a non medically trained eye, but it's typically due to a lack of core/pelvic floor strength causing your feet to roll inwards!
I despise walking shoes. They kill my feet. So I opt for running shoes. I'm sure that's not doing any favors for my back and hips, but they're prettier IMO 😂
People had to look up poppers? In the late 90s early 2000s everyone did them. Showing my age and straight people did them just as much if not more. It was a bit like when people used to sniff glue coz it was a cheap high
