Dammit Mitch I was coming up with this concept now everyone will think I got my deck idea from commander's quarters

It’s a bold strategy cotton, let’s see how it plays out

I really miss the reasonable upgrades, even if they weren’t a featured party of the video

The funny part, is that the original Premium Sliver deck from bygone past, actually has this strategy as an amusing backup. It's only logical to expound upon it, into a potent tactic. One that both optimizes the effect, and does so at a budget usually quite difficult to achieve with Slivers overall.

Deck needs more Basalt Monolith. It's a budget mana rock that makes infinite colorless mana with Zirda, which is perfect for activating Overlord and Mirror Entity to the moon!

"Yeah guys, this deck is brutal so bring a higher tier" *players reveal 3 control decks* "This deck is no longer brutal" I've strayed away from opponent depending decks lately because a lot of the times it doesn't work out but if your playgroup is small and creature / non board wipe heavy then this is a fun deck indeed.

I will give this deck a try. It's sounds so janky and hilarious and on the same time absolutely evil. And I think my playgroup will like the fact that they don't die to my Torbran deck (the damage output is ridiculous, 20+ damage per turn to each opponent is quite normal).

Unnatural Selection is perfect in this deck. Isochron Scepter would also let you do it each turn.

Umm correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you be cycling cards that have only 2 colorless mana cost for free with Zirda's activated ability reduction? I would agree that you'd still have to pay one if it had 1 color in it cycling cost, but since it's 2 colorless and the cost reduction is 2 colorless then it should mean you don't have to pay anything to cycle.

this could also be a tribal tribal deck, you can tutor for mirror entity and there are plenty of good lords with activated abilities. Maskwood nexus has an activated ability so it can also go in.

I'm new to commander, could I please get some advice? Would Reaper King interact with Maskwood Nexus the way I think it will?

I have a sliver overlord deck based on your idea for a lord tribal deck actually. A lot of the same tribal instants are in my deck though so I can steal threats away, so I've leaned into both abilities, but the primary thing is lord tribal. I have about 10 ways though to change my opponents creature types

Hey Mitch, your deck list at the end has Skullwinder in the deck. Wouldn't this not allow Zirda to be your Companion since Skullwinder is a creature without an activated ability?

Might as well do tiamat with no dragons with vastwood nexus; tutor for any 5 creatures.

I don't think enter the battlefield counts as activated abilities. If i remember correctly it is considered a triggered ability, and if i am correct Zirda goes into the 99 Sadge

Run this in my tribal tribal deck inspired by Tomer. Only pulled it off one time because I use The Ur-Dragon as my commander. Was a fun time for me and me only haha

Hello Mitch, I tested it, it's not bad at all, actually is very interesting mechanic BUT I believe it needs something I can't identify in order to make it even faster because if people know what your deck does... they focus you, and because there are not many creatures in your deck for 5-6 turns you are completely without any ways to survive..There are plays that even with 1 LP you could capitalize but it's not occasionally. On the other hand if they will not focus or play in a way to kill you, they are doomed... This is the problem, they play against you like they know what will happen since turn 2 or they leave you be and they lose most of the ways to go against you late game.. You are out since 7 turn or you win most of the times.. and because this is kind of absolute it's like they will do you the favor to win or kill you fast. For this reason isn't brutal in the level to not use it, but at the same time is brutal for you to take so much focus from the start of the game.. So i don't find it brutal for others but for you. Maybe in a less budget way could play faster and also with more creatures.. Don't take me wrong, the reasons I write this comment is because I loved so much this mechanic and i try to fix it in the level it is as brutal as you put it on your video.

Maskwood nexus in this deck would be good as well because it gives all creatures in your deck and hand all creature types as well as the ones on your board. I use it for a swarming skeletons standard deck. On that note meathook massacre is kind of OP in that deck, I get a board wipe for as little as two mana and I keep getting creatures

Honestly, a slightly out of budget card that would be an immediate include would be Basalt Monolith. Only a couple dollars, but goes infinite with Zirda and you have an outlet with your commander? Too good not to include

I had this without cycling. Much better draw aspect. I tossed in an Isochron Scepter for added shenanigans. Unnatural Selection and Evolution too. Might be expensive now.

I'd make a single change, and that is to add Shay Cormac from the Assassin's Creed set His activated ability is that all opponents' permanents lose shroud, hexproof, ward, indestructible and protection

This is the main strategy for my sliver tribal. Get sliver overlord out, tutor for ameboid changling, and steal everyone's stuff. I use training grounds and heartstone as my ability cost reducers. It's fun. Definitely say a few more cards in this video that I'll needs to add. Your golden pig is a great card I didn't know existed. Lol. Thanks for the video!!

I was wondering the whole time: So if your companion eats a sword to plowshares or any other exile effect, the deck is rendered completly useless?

I have an Overlord Sliver deck with no Sliver creatures but Shapeshifters with "Changeling" before this posting. Before Zirda, the Dawnwaker was release I used Training ground and other cards that have similar effect before Zirda. My point is that, there are decks people built uniquely by themselves without others help the likes of EDHREC. Hours of researching cards and self trial and error play. So why expose it? People will lost their ingenuity of deck building if everyone starts copying other decks 90% of the times.

I mean, why build a whole deck assuming graveyard hate doesn't exist for the tribal instant... And the most common removal in EDH is mostly exile, so Zidra's gonna be gone quite quickly once you opponent knows you strategy.. It looks funny and is very funky, but i doubt its actually functionnal

If you are pissed off by ANY mechanic your opponent in a friendly game uses once, you might want to rethink your life. Hit me with this deck and i have a good laugh while losing - do it over and over again and i get bored (unless i start adjusting) Harshest deck i ever played was in 1996 in a 3 vs 3 commander without any limits. Revealing the regrowth and recall on my hand after we just finished a round of Shahrazad just made them give up laughing.

I have a question about The First Sliver and how it interacts with reflections of Littjara. Say I have The First Sliver on the field and play reflections of Littjara . I then cast say bonesycthe sliver, do I get two cascade triggers one from the original and then from the copy or does only one cascade happen. I’ve looked online and can’t find the answer so I’m hoping someone could answer love the videos keep them coming.

Theres a few cards that dont make any sense. First the orc shaman, and the 1 god card. Yeah their cheap to play, and are under a dollar but you could easily replace those and the 2 hedron artifacts with the following, maskwood nexus, elixir of immortality, promise of tomorrow, and manabond... now these cards arent super cheap but 2 of them are less than $3 and 2 of them are under $10 but more than $4. Maskwood makes all creatures cards that you control on the field and creature cards you own that arent on the field every creature type. Which if you have a sliver you want to take advantage of ability sharing when you steal from other players, promise of tomorrow super useful when a creature you control dies its exiled, if you have no creatures exile this card and all the creatures exiled by it come back to the field. Elixir of immortality sacrifice this card to shuffle it and your graveyard into your library! And gain 5hp. 5hp gain is nice but getting everything in the graveyard back is even nicer. Then manabond play every land basic and nonbasic that is in your hand at the end of turn but you have to discard the rest to the grave. If you paired enter the infinite, manabond, and the elixir, you could play every land in your deck, then instead of sending to the grave it goes to your library.

I mention this around, but MTG forge, I have the version for android phones from their site, let's you play Magic for free. I remember my love for magic, but I'm not about to spend hundreds on cardboard, I've got motorcycle parts to save for!

I’m new to the game and my question is; if I include Zirda in my 99, then I can still utilize my Sliver tribal deck so long as I do not use her in the companion role correct? If I did use her in the companion role then I’d only have 5 slivers to choose from correct? Sorry for the noob question. Just trying to make sure I have it right.

Im one of the 45 on edh rec with a zirda companion sliver overlord deck. Unfortunately I had 3 different deck ideas to actually build out and I didn’t end up going with the Companion build.

I''m confused, what happens when Zirda is exiled? maybe the answer is at the end. Exile is popular enough to stop this often

You do realize companion doesn't work with commander, you are not legally allowed to bring cards from outside your deck, or at least I was told that by someone who has been playing commander for years now.

You should have made this deck even worse by adding animation effects to turn their other permanents into creatures. I'm not happy just stealing your creatures, no, awaken your lands and give them to me.

Fuck i hate changeling decks like this so fucking much, in my play group someone does this but with Reaper king as the commander and they're goal is to get alot of changelings flicker them and blow up all your permanents and its terrible I made a sliver hivelord deck to deal with it but then it was race to see who can get a 5 color commander out first, I'm definitely going to make this deck to give him a taste of his own medicine

So total rookie question, wouldnt basic lands count against zirda as they dont have a activated ability? Sorry for the noob question.
