31:05 Doom Foretold works against stonecoil serpent because it doesn't target, just forces a sacrifice. Protection doesn't matter if a spell doesn't target it.

Maybe try changing your sleeves so your lands dont stick together, they seem to be stuck on the bottom of your deck regularly

I added Kaya's Ghostform to this deck to throw on Cavalier of Dawn. Creates a nice combo with doom foretold. Drop doom foretold, sac cavalier, and bring back Ghostform every turn.

In my experience, playing a one off of Divine Visitation really added a nice spike in power. It helped me close games a few turns earlier.

29:27 Oath of Kaya often does nothing to you on board, as you don't have many walkers, so don't be afraid of saccing it to your Doom.

oath is a great sac, but in this instance he forced the opponent to sac yorvo with the open board, keeping the oath for a future sac.

Been running Revenge of Ravens with mirror maid. Some games I get 4+ copies down. Mirror maid works on their Artifacts and Enchantments also. So they cast Great henge, you can make one for 3 mana. I had 4 Ravens down last night and then stole their ethereal absolution and next turn copied it. Pretty crushing

After new season and i was deranked to gold, i built this deck but splashed blue for 2 dance the manse, and made a sideboard for Bo3 and made it to diamond in one night of playing. From gold to plat i lost 1 game. Once i hit plat i started hitting more meta decks like UG oko nissa, and needed to sideboard 3x dispark 3x dovins veto etc. Swapped the prison realm for murder riders because the instant speed helps against Questing beast etc. And the deck is fire! Going to keep testing it and taking it to a tournament in a few weeks.

The serpent has protection from multicolored. That means, it can't be targeted by multicolored spells or abilities and damage is prevented from multicolored creatures and spells. Doom foretold does not target the serpent (it doesn't target at all, actually). So the opponent has to sac it

@badboygaming when you were facing R31+ and did a max attack at their Vivian while they had Questing Beast on board, my two cents about it is that you could have had the spirit token and the cavalier attack Vivian while the other two tokens attacked the player. Yes, the player could of still blocked one of the humans, but if the guy really wanted to keep Vivian, he could have blocked the cavalier with Questing Beast.

great deck. I added Divine Visitation for the win-con. Some changes I made are cut 3 Ethereal Absolution and 1 revenge of ravens. Add 1 more prison realm and mortify. The early 3 costs help stabilize and control a lot sooner. The 5 costs drops are better bombs like Massacre girl or Clackbridge troll.

The thing you said about adding the extra land in the beginning made me think of how sometimes the Bo1 hand algorithm ruins mana curves.. I used to run a Divine Visitation deck and most of my token making cards ( every card in the deck except DV and that convoke removal enchantment) were 1-3 mana and DV is 5, but id always start with a 2 mana hand. I need 28 lands to hit 5 drops on turn 5!!

13:22 Wow. That cavalcade player is dumb. He should've sac'd the Torch Courier to give the Spitfire haste and swung in with everything. That would be 3 for cavalcade, 3 from damage on the board and 9 from the Spitfire triggers for 15 damage. You'd still have 4 from revenge of ravens triggers, but that would put you in range of any number of burn spells he could be running in that deck. Edit: Oh my god, he even had two shocks in hand! What is this joker doing!? That match was his to win and he threw it.

Awesome. Iv been looking for a different B/W deck to play. I got all the way to Gold tier 1 with my outdated Orzhov death matters deck but i can not for the life of me get into Platinum. Definitely will build a deck based around this one and try out. Thanks.

Revenge of Ravens is great in a life link deck. I was playing against a boardstate of 10 4/4 angels, and was at like 35 life, and they swung. Well I gain 10 life and they lost 10 just to revenge of Ravens, in the end with me at 5 life, but it did lethal to my apponant

every time i get revenge of ravens down my opponent eventually seems to forget about it and kills themselves by mass attacking. it is an awesome card!

I've been playing a really similar list to this since rotation and it's great. I highly recommend fitting in shepherd of the lost. That card just takes over games in this list.

@@JoeyMossBBG Just remember the line where if you put an upkeep stop, you can bounce your doom fortold to it's own trigger when they have no nonland nontokens out and you get all the benefits and the doom fortold is in your hand now instead of in the yard. Basically wins the game on the spot.

Sacrifice effects are not targeting the creature with protection from multicolored spells, they are targetting the player. So Doom foretold asks HIM to kill his creature with protection from multicolored, just like liliana's triumph could make them kill something with hexproof.

I run a deck very similar to this. and the one problem I always have is Lands don't show up. if you put 25 in the game doesn't give you lands, but if you put 26 in, the game will give you all the lands.

at 31:10 protection just means it cant be targeted by spells of the color its protected against. doom foretold dosent target it there fore it dosent matter. its like if you minus 4 liliana even if the creature has protection from black. since no target has to be selected for the effect to trigger, its effect dosent come into play

This is not bad and it's shockingly budget except for the Godless shrines and maybe Calvelier of Dawn, I mean it's a little cheap on Amazon but you should get it at your LGS to help support them in this day and age of them being pressured by online markets and now premium stores too.

That was like the weirdest reasoning to not running a fourth shrine. Just put it in play tapped and you have a non-shock. Cool deck nonetheless. I will try this if I manage to get the wild cards needed.

Joey, if your so concerned 'bout having 6 Mana out quickly, try either adding more B/W dual lands(especially any that gain you life) or put some mana ramp/dorks in to gain it quickly. As an OLD(from all the way back in Non-planeswalker days) player, i'd honestly go with Mana Rocks for this one: since Orzhov doesn't have a lot of ramp, the rocks should both speed you up and give you a sac outlet for Foretold. Hope it all helps! : D

@dittmar104 -- true, he would run that risk, but 1-2 mana rocks won't hurt him that bad. It looked(to me at least) that he kept missing land drops, so a super cheap 1-2 cmc mana rock could help him out...

Remember to always sac a dead Oath of Kaya before globe or eggs. one point you sacced a globe when you need lands heh. The oath is dead on board as you play it since you have no planeswalkers to speak of. I build this deck and me and a friend played it on MTG Arena yesterday a bunch, Except I had two Dance and 4 teferi as tempo and win conditions much better. ;)

Doom fortold targets the player, not the creature. That's why it affected the serpent Edit: it actually doesnt target at all

I love the deck, but I would add the 4th Godless Shrine over Orzhov Guildgate. You don't have to pay the 2 life for Godless Shrine, but it does give you the option.

If u wanna play a really fast deck try this 4 young pyromancers 4 shock 4 lightning strike 4 molten rebirth 3 calvacade enchantments 21 to 24 red lands 4 of the Phoenix's this guy used cant remember the name 4 trumpet blast And 4 of the red enchantment that gives ur guys plus 1 defense 4 arc lightning And 4 cheap one cost creatures with haste

Doom foretold doesn't target the creature it forces the player to sacrifice. It could also be a way for someone to have to sacrifice their indestructible

Black and white decks in general seem to be owning ranked right now. But I will not join the dark side =P. I've been trying to tweak my mono green deck to handle them, but I'm stuck at gold tier 4. Although I'm a pretty new MTG player and haven't spent much money on arena...I'm sure with a couple swaps for some legendary creatures I might do better. Oh and I'd rather lose to a blue control deck than a black and white lol.

Yo found this deck, played a few games. Pretty fun but games seem soooo slow. This might seem crazy but what about adding 2 Circle of Loyalties into the deck? I found myself having lots of turns where I just sat there with lots of mana unused. Could use that artifact to pop out 2/2 knights w/vigilance that become 3/3 instead of those 1/1 that come from the castle land.

Tried out this deck this morning..Not ranked just normal games. Ran into two control style decks and lost. Either I'm not playing it correctly or it's not as strong as some of the other simic/gruul decks out there.

Do u read Doom Foretold? it tells the player to sak a nonLand card in play, it dose not target the snake or any other protection monster or indestructible monster, because u can still sacrifice a protected monster, you just can't destroy it

Why is this deck good? And how do you reliably win the game? There's no danse of the manse is what I mean even though it's an enchantment deck so how does it reliably win? (I generally don't understand so please be nice in comments to this question).

Why do you want to play danse ? To get foretold or absolution back ? Cavalier of dawn does it.

I really, really like this deck. No room for Mortify, I suppose since Oath and Prison do the trick? This is actually the kind of control deck that I used to like playing back in the day, only with U/B. U/W Teferi BS just ruins the game. I've been favoring B/W on Arena lately. I have a jank B/W knight deck that isn't too bad but it'll get smoked by RoR unless I draw a Mortify.

You have to ask for advice by sending a handwritten letter in the mail. Then it's not netdecking.

I really like shepherd of the lost in this kind of list. It saves you from agent of treachery, can rebuy eggs or oaths, and you can bounce your doom fortold to it's own trigger when they have empty board and you still get the draw/discard/drain/dude and keep the fortold. Can also be a relevant blocker and help close out games, a nontoken for the fortolds, etc.

Yeah I had an easy time climbing from Bronze to Gold with an Orzhov control deck. Except I was just memeing on people with Hushbringer and Clackbridge Troll.
