So I made this yesterday and it turned out absolutely phenomenal. I can eat ALOT and was full after 3 pieces. Air fried a couple today for an early lunch and it tasted amazing yet again. So happy you share these recipes on RU-vid. Everything you make is 100% amazing

Seriously. Actual recipes as opposed to just replacing full fat with fat free and sugar for artificial sweetener. Don't get me wrong--those are great ways to save calories but some channels saying use low calorie buns, lean meat and fat free cheese is just common sense and doesn't require a full 'recipe' video. Props to Nick.

Or the amount of recipes that are redecorated versions of the same ingredients, flour, protein powder, Greek yogurt, egg whites and sweetener. One is microwaved and has chocolate chips and is now a cookie, another one has black cocoa powder so it’s a brownie, another one has some oats in it so it’s overnight oats.

For those of us that are stuck with the bagged fat free cheese try this trick. The preshredded stuff is covered in anti clumping agents you can actually wash it off if you soak the cheese for a bit ik sounds weird but the cheese will melt properly when you get off the anti clumping stuff.

Alot of people recommend this but I wasnt a fan of doing this in a extra step to benefit aspect. I wouldnt even waste the time getting it off for this recipe. Itll work fine with it on. There is definitely some recipes where it could help it melt better, but just isnt enough of an improvement for me to do it every time I make a recipe, which is usually everyday.

Will this help the vegan cheese to melt better too? I've got some friends and family who can't eat anything else and they always complain about how it doesn't melt properly on its own or tastes too salty or grainy when I use citric acid and baking soda (much easier to find than proper citric salt for us layfolk).

Great recipes but do yourself a favor and list out the ingredients and amounts, and make these videos half the length. Way too much fluff which is off putting, and once you get to the actual recipe, you go so fast through the ingredients it’s hard to actually measure out ingredients.

This video is misleading. Half of caleroies doens't mean it's low calories. One slice is 365 calories * 8 slices (11:19min) = almost 3000 calories for one pizza. One normal meal is about 600-800 calories. People will eat this is think they are doing great not to gain weight but it's quite the opposite and at the end of day it's also unheatlhy food.

@@takeyourtime3328 Most people can't eat more than 2 pieces so it fits perfectly in a meal. I can guarantee noone is eating this whole pizza in one go. I have had several DMs thanking me and saying they are able to make this and have it for 4 days. Not to mention they are losing weight and feeling great. What makes this unhealthy? A homemade crust? Homemade tomato sauce? Or cheese? If from scratch recipes that are half the calories of the real thing are unhealthy, I might as well just give up. 😂

​@@Exercise4CheatMeals Thats the point. Why do you need a big 3000 calories pizza to begin with? There is NO reason to make big portions if you want to cut calories. Thats how you tease yourself and we all know people are going to eat more than two slices remembering your statement "half of the calories pizza". Most likely 4-5 slices which is 1200-1500 calories. You picked that line on purpose because 3000 calories just don't sounds good to lose weight. Nevertheless it is still considered as unhealthy (fast) food even it takes more time to make. I understand that many from the west consider this as normal or even healthy food but it's not. ...to much dough, to much cheese, to much meat....

Is it on purpose that you roll the dough out and squeeze the air out of the dough? I haven't made deep dish pizzas much, but in normal pizzas, squeezing the air pockets out of the dough is a big no no. You just stretch it with your hands instead.

I love lous. I’m a big fat fuck and I get them shipped to my doorstep. Despite living a 5 minute walk away Made the mistake of getting both feet cut off as doc said “ you need to knock it off” I thought removing my feet would stop diabetes. When I go out. I get alot of dry heaves from people or “ pew” or “yuck “. I get that all the time. I usually ju at throw a bunch of my favorite foods into a massive blender so I can eat a doazdn of my favorites at the same time. Well I hope this helped you.

Nick, as a Chicagoan myself, I can say this definitely gets the stamp of approval. Made it today and it’s definitely going into my rotation. Pizza is definitely the thing that wrecks my diet. Being able to satisfy that addiction in a healthier way sounds great. Plus, this is way cheaper that ordering Giordano’s, Beggar’s or Palermo’s 2-3 times a week. Thank you for this.

I’m from Chicago and we don’t have many deep dish places where I moved to. And the deep dish I got last time was $40-$50. I said never again. Then I found this recipe. Tried it out. Nick, thank you so much for all these amazing recipes. I’m currently eating 2 slices from making the pizza 4 nights ago. Reheated in air fryer for 8 minutes at 400 degrees. Tastes even better than when it was fresh. It took about 2-3 hours to prep and finish but it was literally SO worth it. It’s DELICIOUS and probably one of my FAVORITE recipes you’ve made. Every time you put something out I know I can count on it to be NEXT LEVEL and actually taste amazing. Thank you for all the content you continue on putting out! You’re literally THE BEST anabolic chef out there🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

Lately I've been doing quite well on the weight loss journey. Mostly focusing around diet choices and cardio. @@takeyourtime3328 You’re the misleading one here bud. No one’s eating the entire pizza in one sitting. At most they’ll have 2 slices since it’s really filling. That’s only 730 calories which is still less than that 1 slice from the restaurant and within that range of 600-800 calories per meal which you mentioned. This may not be healthy per se but it’s healthier than eating out with the same satisfaction factor, so it will indeed aid those looking to lose weight as long as they work out consistently.

I know a few of the deep dish places cook the pizza in the oven without the sauce. They keep the sauce hot in the pot instead and pour it over the top in the end. This adds some browning to the cheese and toppings.

Just made this with a 10 in cast iron, reduce everything by 15% and king arthur Keto Flour blend is a great substitute with 80 cals per 30 grams with 17 g of protein

Please don’t compare wheat protein to whey protein, saying the macros are the same is incredibly misleading! Wheat protein is a huge distance from whey when looking at the amino acid profile, you need a lot more wheat protein to get the same benefit from whey protein.

I am sorry, but your comment is misleading. The entire bolus of the meal is what matters. There is plenty of dairy/meat that you are consuming with the same meal that will still do all the things needed for protein synthesis/muscle building that the one missing amino acid in the VWG isn't able to do. Also, the majority of the protein in this recipe comes from other protein sources. Like over 85% of it. It is like saying white bread spikes insulin, but bread is usually eaten with meat and vegetables which completely changes how it is digested.

Thought I would share for the rest of you that do not measure things in grams. 1.5 cups AP Flour 5 tbs vital wheat gluten 2.56 tbs cornmeal 3/4 tbs sugar 1/2 tbs salt 1/3 tbs yeast 2 tbs of butter half of a cup of water for the dough Sauce: 3/4 tbs of olive oil 2 tbs of garlic 4 tbs tomato paste half tsp oregano half tsp of salt 1 tbs of your sweetener Exercise4CheatMeals having both units of measure in the future would be much appreciated. I made this one and there were some things I did slightly differently, I used garlic powder instead of fresh garlic and I don’t think I used the right amount of full fat mozzarella but even with those two small changes this was absolutely incredible. I ate half of it and put the rest in meal prep containers. I didn’t measure the Turkey pepperoni very well but otherwise measured everything out. This one takes a bit to make, I’d say plan on making it during a meal prep time almost. Two hours or so for me, I can say with absolute certainty though I’ll make it again. Great job again!!

Fresh garlic will always be better than powder because it’s flavor is more astringent and the powder doesn’t retain as many of the compounds in fresh garlic like allicin

I was hoping you'd have posted the nutritional facts for this, but I went and sorted them out myself. Making this recipe, verbatim as the video measures, gives you: 3260 calories, 256g carbs, 157g fat, 214g protein, 9265 mg sodium, 63g sugar If you cut it into 8 slices, that's around 410 cals/32g carb/20g fat/26g protein per slice

Never had real deep dish before and made this. Reaction pretty good but still too much cal/protein ratio if you don't have protein shakes on hand. Still the best deep dish i can get in Texas. I can find better newyork style pizza in texas (not enough protein either but tastes better than his recipe.) You got to meet up with my new york texas boy in houston.

I didn't like Malnati's. This is the pizza I didn't know I wanted. I can't find fat-free mozz, so I got part skim mozz, and provolone. I didn't love the cracker crunchy crust. I'll let the dough rise in the pan and parbake it next time (which will be very soon). I found turkey pepperoni, and 500g grilled chicken thighs will bring up the protein to make this a meal.

Some proteins are not complete now if you eat 1g/ib of body weight normally that should not matter but if i eat 3 pizza in one day maybe it starts to matter that gluten is probably not a complete protein. Disclaimer i have done no reasearch but so far protein pizza is too good to be true. Like why wouldn't pizza joints just make a protein option with vital wheat gluten?

One piece of advice that helped me lose weight: 1. If it's fattening, it better taste fucking good. Just like that I was skipping shit likp chips, chocolate and soda for better, more delicious and filling meals. I swear to god, it's a lot easier to eat 1500 calories of sugar and chips absentmindedly than a 700 calorie steak deliberately.

Duuuuuude! Loved this pizza! I need to make this for a friend of mine who grew up in Chicago. Next time I will bake it a bit longer because the crust wasn't quite crispy yet, though chewy was good. This was easy to make. I cook a lot anyway so with my skill set this would not be a problem, but with anyone else it's still easy to make. I have your recipe book already. I've had it for a while and I need to explore more of your recipes.

Looks yummy and I LOVE pizza...but that's the thinnest crust I've ever seen anyone call 'deep dish.' Also, I LOVE tomato sauce...but that's way too much for even me! Regardless, pizza is THE BEST!

I am also from/in Chicago. Chicago pizza got me to my weight, and only a Chicago native can provide a pizza to rescue me from it! Going to try this out for the Bears game - unfortunately as you noted I can only get my hands on preshredded fat free so that will have to do. I kind of also want to try to do a tavern style crust….

@excercise4cheatmeals Its interesting that you mention Lou Malnatis pizza but then choose to make your sauce with onion and garlic. Lou is know for using just San Marzino tomatoes with nothing else in the sauce (minus a bit of basil or oregano or something to the top). Not much a difference in macros to use these or not, just a flavor thing really, but maybe you should try making the sauce with just high quality tomatoes and nothing else one time and see how ya feel

In case you can't find Vital Wheat Gluten, or are in a pinch. I've been substituting the Vital wheat with Whey Protein. For the 40g of Vital wheat, sub instead 18-20g Whey Protein. I found 18g to be a sweet spot but up to 20g works good.

i would let the dough rest for a longer time. at least 24h in the fridge and than 4 hours at room temp afterwards. and than i would stretch the dough instead of rolling it

Tip you may be able to get away wit course pre shredded cheese if you rinse off the anti clumping dust (probably cornstarch) with water. Just make sure you pat it dry with paper towel before adding.

Good tip if shredded is all you have. Although in my opinion its like watering down your already flavorless cheese. I highly suggest anyone just get a brick from the deli or in a package and take the 5 minutes to grind it yourself. The flavor is unmatched, rinsed or not.
