You know while that is true, I do agree with that argument. I see it like this. Since this is just a focus on Kratos and Mimir alone, this DLC I feel will be Kratos finally confronting his past and putting those inner demons to rest. Why I think that is that you have the cyclops, you have the OG music that was in the trailer, and you have the possibility of other manifestations of his past coming back to confront him, we always knew that as happy as he is for Atreus/Loki through all their ups and downs, his past still haunts him, Christopher Judge does such an amazing job of showing that on Kratos’ expressions and visions and talking throughout the two games. If he truly wants to “master thyself” he must face his fears and confront what he tried to keep away, and maybe this is hinting at fighting a younger more greedy Kratos along with other Greek monsters and maybe even one of the gods again. Yes yes I know a little ambitious for a free DLC but Santa Monica always delivers on these games so I have no doubt that it will still satisfy most if not everyone while we wait for the next big DLC. Either way I love me a good Roguelite/roguelike and combined with the God of War combat is gonna be a thing of beauty.
@@ArmoredG Exactly and there can still be like temporary companions, because Young Kratos did have spells/skills like soul summon. So temporary companions, but I definitely agree, this needs to be a Kratos thing and Kratos alone, he still has mimir for guidance and support, but “master thyself” makes the most sense in that regard too.
He cannot move on considering he is hiding a big secret from his son. That burden will only be lifted if Atreus of Kratos’ original family and what happened to them. 😊
I mean… is free tho, they could have give us nothing and let us wait for years, or charge this a small fee, I personally don’t see a problem with this.
Ok so what? If its free doesnt mean it has to be mediocre. Id rather have nothing tbh. Was doing just fine playing mw3 and allan wake 2. Dont really need god of war right now lol
@@Jay-vm4lcbut who said it was going to be Mediocre? It’s Santa Monica, this will for sure have lore and Story, they said we’d visit all the realms. This is the last realm to visit, and it’s free.
@@Gundam4 I mean if they gonna potentially bring Thor back in Valhalla I’m sure he’ll have mijolnir with him even tho thrud has it. Valhalla is a mirage of kratos past so its still possible imo
If Rogue-like is fighting numerous enemies in succession and if you die you lose everything and/or having to restart from square one I don't like that at all.
I totally agree with you man! Hopefully, we will get some answers here too. I try to stay positive, but I really agree we need something with more story.
Because it is attached to the game (Ragnarok). Whether the Ragnarok event in game is over, or not, the dlc see remains within the Norse realm, within the game (Ragnarok), so they don’t want it to seem separate.
@@Morgothwasbetter I understand, but what is your point in saying that? Seems redundant. *Free* implies what you needlessly stated, so I thought maybe you weren’t happy with his disappointment of what this dlc will entail.
Where is Freya? Kratos literally asks her if she would join him on the next journey. I feel the exact same way as you do. It's nice getting a DLC but this indeed isn't the DLC we wanted. I would like to eventually find out what happens to Atreus, would Baldur come back? Would Sindri become King of Dwarves? Many Norse-Mythology related things and after completing the game, I have read different versions, old and new, including the original version translated from a thousand years ago. There's plenty of room to answer the unanswered questions for what happens next in THIS universe, especially at the end of Ragnarok. Like Odin says; "I have to know what happens next."
RIGHT THERE WITH YOU! This is great and all but a story heavy DLC with answers to all these burning questions was what I was expecting and hoping for. But... I do think something more is still to come
@@TheStenius It was actually because of God of War did I start reading into Norse Mythology and grow an interest into learning about Vikings. I would say I don't just "like" this game, I love it. If I didn't love it, I wouldn't look into this stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with just liking God of War, of course. ;)
@@pickledpixel I also love GoW. All games. Finished GoW 2018 11 times. But I love the games for the combat. The Story doesn't drag me 11 times though a game. Ragnarok was way to boring for those combat lovers like me. But holy cow, the nailed it with Valhalla! They delivered non stop combat AND a pretty good wrap up of the story!
I liked Faye better when she was a mystery. I honestly disliked her in Ragnarok. The actress they chose didn’t fit; her looks & voice. Just my personal opinion.
I'd rather have a Faye expansion game than an Atreus one. With Atreus, I think his story is best told with Kratos around, that way he gets to find out what he's been doing at the same time as us. He makes a better playable character in duo playable character than having his own standalone game and his future story doesn't interest me that much as a playable story. Faye's story is much more interesting and she is someone who I'd love to be able to play as. I think, with how mysterious she is as well, she's the more interesting person to follow and see what she was like before meeting Kratos. Imagine fighting Thor for the first time again and creating another (and the first, technically) frozen lightning bolt in Vanaheim.
You are exactly right, I was really hoping for a half game like Miles Morales. I hope there are some story elements to this DLC. I can see them releasing another expansion next year. I think an Atreus solo game could answer all the questions or at least most of the questions left unanswered in god of war Ragnarok.
No you don but make sure you have it downloaded from the store. It’s not just an update. The dlc is a separate download. Also restart the game for it to take effect. Hope it helps
My thing that I hope they explain is how the fuck did he get there? he never died in the game so he had to have died off screen. How is he in Valhalla?
I don’t care about that at all. He is there that we can FINALY enjoy combat without endless interruptions. The story for that can‘t be more than a means to the end.
Ragnarok story was dumb! 45 min main batle lame! Gna took herself out!!! Dumb!. Odin mob boss so bad! Garm NOT SIZE OF MOUNTAIN! No interaction with mob boss Odin. Kratos gets army in 5 min! Master craft story! Skull hatu not in the sky. Sobar dad complete rubbish. NO THANKS! NOT EVEN FOR FREE!!
You expected more story!? Holy shit please NO NO NO!!! We had enough cumbersome walking, endless family drama and boring Atreus parts in Ragnarok! A whole evening is wasted on every playthrough with that awful Iron Wood part alone. NOW it‘s time for those who love GoW for the COMBAT! For those who PLAY the game and not just stream or watch it. A Roguelite-DLC with endless Kratos-combat without interruptions is the best possible addition to the game!🙌 Sorry guys, but do you even like video games? If you‘re just interested in storys, READ BOOKS😉
