Because Santa Monica actually cares about and values their fanbase, this is their way of giving back after so many years of fan appreciation, patience and loyalties
Not sure if that’s the case. Listening to the fanbase too much will often lead to their downfall. You know how people get when they are allowed too much input. They get controlling, send death threats, etc. It’s also been mentioned in the past that they prefer “old style gaming” which is why their games are so long. It’s so the game is complete from the moment of release. They even said that they hated the idea of making DLC way back in 2018. Granted, even they have to get with the times, which brings us to the logical conclusion of a free DLC. That way, there is no extra cost when buying a game. So it’s like you bought the full thing from the get-go. That’s my assumption based on what little I remember about their old statements.
@moistfist1054 When I said that Santa Monica Values and Appreciates their fan base, I meant that in terms of loyalty, as in the people who show genuine appreciation for the things they've made, this is their way of saying "thank you for walking this journey with us". I mean that appreciation and value can come in a number of different ways this simply their way of giving back
Ea: HOW DARE YOU BE GOOD AND BE SUCCESSFUL Santa: well jokes on you I'm going to make good content Ea: you won't get away with it! Meanwhile they get away with it by making great content
I love how this DLC really makes me respect Tyr as a character more. Because after you beat the first game, all you see him do is like meditation exercises from different mythologies, and I didn’t like that that was all we got of real Tyr. But when we got the DLC we get to see him fight and yeah I could see why he is the norse god of war
Bro this dlc was phenomenal. The amount of nostalgia that it had was insane. The moment when kratos pulled out the blade of Olympus I lost my mind. Just so many good things happened in this dlc it was just mind blowing, especially the ending to it. This was the best dlc I’ve ever played.
I love that Tyr uses different weapons, Kopeshes, Katana, Spear, showing hints of other mythos and gods pantheons, can't wait to see Kratos trading blows with Jesus Christ
When I saw young Kratos I was fully expecting to hear TC Carson belittle old Kratos. A debate going back and forth. A boss battle would have been cool, but would have betrayed the theme of the DLC
I'm having a lot of fun with it. I've been playing Mastery difficulty and I've managed to beat max level Týr 3 times. IT IS HELL but the euphoria I feel after beating him makes it absolutely worth the effort
This was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be. And you can tell that a lot of the new enemies are clearly built off of pre-existing enemies, but the changes to how they work make them stand out. And Tyr alters how he fights even after the final story fight. He changes things up slightly each time you fight him.
This dlc uses a lot of reused assets so k feel that this was a great idea. They added rotating set pieces and if they were working on it for just a year (though prob near the 3rd part of GOWR) it's really aweskme work. If next dlc is a more story or an arc that also incorporated something with replayability. I would easily pay £25-40. Not to mention they add new moves or abilities. Though it might be an atreus DLC. Could still be great if they exploring distant lands. Hope they give him a shortsword or something if so.
@RUSHYRUSHY39 yea but they reuse it for every dungeon crawl. So you'd continuously see the same area and it's recycled. All the dlc is original to an extent (the realms are a mix of different distinct areas in that realm mixed to make somethjng new). But the dlc (and other games of the genre) are a collection of assets swapped out and reused in different sequences.
Spoilers Did you realise that to the left/opposite of the boat door there's a door to the desert. It the desert where Kronos roamed. And up at the top u can fight the gravestone bosses. It's above the starting area.
TBH with this dlc the blades of chaos are the best weapons. Especially when you use the triangle attack with the blades. So many weapon perks for the blades are just great. Then add in valour for healing or fury which you can use to if you didn't parry a yellow ring attack correctly.
Tbh, this has been an issue the entire series, whether it be the Greek or Norse saga, there are times where Kratos should be able to just bypass the puzzles by just brute force or jumping, we see he has insane hops when he actually tries, and I don't need to explain why he's strong enough to ignore most puzzles. But, game going to game, it's the same reason he doesn't just one shot most enemies, although in the novels he usually does just bypass the puzzles lol, he ain't got time for that shit.
I beat it in show me mastery after completing it fully in show me Prowess. It is the most satisfying win ever. After getting my ass beat many times, getting tht first win has never felt so good, I roared like Kratos when he roared against Bear Atreus (Bjorn) 😂
The DLC the story is awesome and kratos realizing mistakes of his past and when he steps in that chair he just hope that he doesn't become that same man again
I think they did a good job to help Kratos forgive his past, so he can look back as a guide for a better future and to tell him to continue the path he's on to be better.
To me the dlc was pretty cool, still just a B or B+ like the main game. Gameplay and story and pacing just got worse after 2018 and it’s just not living up, but it’s still good. I’d give it a solid B+
No I think it's been a year in game since the end of Ragnarok. They talk about the plans and things they have been doing as if it's been awhile. And Mimir has that line "you're more yourself than I've seen in moons." Moons means months
I think it all comes down to how much interference they have. With suicide squad they pretty much had almost complete interference. But with this game I don’t feel like they had too much interference at all, outside of one or two notable things. The less interference that they have with a game, the better it is.
So that “combat challenge inside a combat challenge” is actually 1 of 3. After you do the boat, you can go to another door on the far side of the”Olympus” and go to the desert from the first game. After finishing that, you can go to the highest peak of the area and fight a beserker boss, and the third time you do that it’ll be king hroulf
I found a practically immortal build with the spear, you need the ability that gives you a random siphon each time you throw the spear, range damage up, health burst for spear kills and, elemtal storm for the triangle ability when bifrost, ice, or fire element on the spear.
I think if Thor was a secret boss would’ve been badass like after u beat the game on the hardest difficulty and then go back to the trials and make it the end U fight Thor and not just a memory like the actual Thor after U beat him Kratos and Thor become rivals and can fight him whenever u want Edit: Or have him as a companion and the 2 talk about their past and an interaction between Tyr and a Thor on the road of redemption would be pretty cool
You didn't talk about the dessert you unlock, which is also like the boat, and the arena where you fought hercules in gow 3 exept this time you fight a beserker. Maybe because you didnt unlock them yet.
Wish they brought up that girl he shoved into a giant gear to hold that door open. He walked past debris and killed enemies he could have used and just dragged her to her horrible death as she begged for her life.
i was lucky on the last fight i had health burst and rage burst on an r3 takedown soon has the other enemy's came out when his hp hits half . i put my weapons away and beat everything to death had my most of my rage and hp up by the time they were all dead
the only thing that disappointed me was that they missed the opportunity to do kratos vs kratos where the new kratos must overcome his inner demons and accept himself!!!
