X is the arm shape, 4 arms coming out from the center in an X pattern. True X means all motors are equidistant in each direction, the front right motor is just as close to the front left as the back right. (Basically the motors make a square) Stretched X means the motors are moved more to the front and back, making a tall rectangle. (Theoretically giving you more pitch authority) Squished/Squashed X is the motors moved more left and right, making a wide rectangle. (Theoretically giving you more roll authority) Deadcat, the front motors are wide but the back motors are normal, making a trapezoid. This is mostly just to get the front props out of view of the camera. There are other options besides X shapes too. For example the popsicle drone here is an H, since it looks like a capital H. With carbon fiber frames we rarely see this anymore, it's heavier and less durable with more vibrations. Much less commonly was the side-H that's basically the same layout but 90* rotated. A Box does both, with supports coming both vertically and horizontally and the motors all connected to each other in a big square. (Heavier but more durable)

@@dfgaJK it wasn’t hot, it was seized because it had a bent shaft from landing upside down multiple times. It was a very old, inexpensive motor i pulled from my spare parts bin
